Would you guys trade for Beal at this point?

Post#1 » by ILOVEIT » Fri Jan 29, 2021 1:40 am

Would you trade Wiggins or Oubre plus a future 1st rounder for Beal?

I wouldn't trade Wiggins at this point. He is just too valuable as a two way SF.

I think moving Oubre for Beal this year helps a lot....We lose some defense but Beal would kill it with Curry attracting all the attention.

Oddly, this team looks better NEXT year without Beal....

What do the rest of you think?

If the trade were somehow Oubre and a single first for Beal...yes.

But it wouldn't be. It would be Wiggins, Wiseman and at least three firsts most likely. Lots of teams have a lot of assets and Beal might be the only superstar on the market this summer. We'd find ourselves is a bidding war for sure.

I know some disagree, but I feel like its not worth selling our decade in 2020 for. The James Harden trade is a reasonable baseline here, and Beal being younger and headed towards a scoring title likely means he costs more.
Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

Beal seems like a terrible fit for the Warriors. He's a smallish ball dominant guard. Yes, he's great at what he does. But, we've already got that guy and then some. His name is Stephen Curry. To make matters worse, we'd have to kick in two or more future draft picks along with Wiggins to make such a trade happen. Wiseman, our own 2021 draft pick plus Minny's 2021 or 2022 high draft pick are the foundation for very bright days to come. People need to be patient and put this dumb idea to rest once and for all.

He's become ball-dominant because the Wizards havent had Wall or a legitimate PG.. he doesnt need to be ball-dominant, and was a solid defender before he had to be

So, what do you propose - that the Warriors offer garbage and the Wizards magically accept that offer and give us their best player? Acquiring Beal would require a haul.

... no. Wrong direction - I thought that was obvious but guess not. I forget that there's a lot of echo chambering around here

The two offers above are ****. Wizards wouldn't take either, and they don't consider the W's very much either

The best offer would be moving Oubre for a 2 year contract, then in the offseason: ballast (14-16m range) + Looney + Poole + MIN 1st + GS 1st - at minimum. And if they wanted Wiseman I'd consider that too. We're trying to win rings here, not create some unlikely never-ending dynasty. Teams that hedge don't win. Because the rest of the teams won't hedge.

If we traded for him during this season, the trade would absolutely have to include Wiseman and the Minny pick. My guess would be something like:

Beal for Oubre, Wiseman, Minny pick, 1 additional future 1st.

And as insane as that sounds, i'd probably say yes. Steph/Beal/Wiggins/Dray/Looney could give any team a run for their money, and obviously adding Klay next year would be an instant contender.

You guys Harden netted four picks and four swaps. Why would Beal move for significantly less? Especially condiering he is younger, under contract and not a malcontent.

Harden's resume is waaaaay better than Beal.

But besides that, I get what you're saying. My trade of Oubre/Wiseman/Minny pick/1 future 1st is less picks than what Harden got, but i'm guessing Wiseman and the Minny pick are higher quality than most of the picks Houston got (haven't looked into it much though).

Thank God nobody advocating mortgaging the present and future of the team currently or ever will work in the Warriors front office.

A deal that has Wiseman going for Beal is an epic fail.

I said yes to the Oubre suggestion because it seemed like a suspiciously good deal value-wise. But I don't like the fit of Beal here. If it comes to trying to match what some here think he's actually worth, and including Wiseman, the Minnesota pick, other picks, etc., then I immediately lose interest.

Why is Oubre, Paschall and a future 1st round pick for Beal even an option? In what alternate reality would the Wizards GM, upon being called up and offered that deal, do anything other than squat over his phone and take a massive dump on it?

Yes, can’t try 100%, that’s not how you win titles. Half measures is how you win titles

I can’t seem to buy into the Beal idea for what it would take to get him.

I think trade talks would start with Wiseman, Wiggins and the Minny pick so I am a big fat NO.

Beal...as great of a scorer as he is....is nowhere near Harden (and I hate Harden lol).

I guess the bottom line is would Beal make the Warriors a contender this year. If we think so...you have to make a run at him.

If we think Beal will only make then a second round playoff team....then...?

I don't see why the Oubre deal is listed. Beal makes about 29M this year, you have to send out about $23M in salary to trade. The Oubre deal is about $7M short.
