ChuckDurn wrote:Agreed with all of this, and I’d add that I don’t think either Anderson or Bane are at their best when playing SF. Anderson is more effective playing the 4 (and struggles to keep up with most 3’s speed), and Bane doesn’t have the wingspan to do it that well either. This trade has us over-loading on guards and weakening the 3.

If Barnes is there when we pick (at any of 6, 7, or 8), I think we absolutely would consider making a deal. But I don’t think it would look like this one.

There are so many quality players in this draft whether with the pick or with a trade they NEED to get value. A heavy favorable aspect of using the pick is money. The draft is the best way to get real talent on "cheap" deals. The issue of course is time.

The Dubs lacked veterans to anchor the bench, it lacked shooters in general, a playmaker, a rebounder, and most importantly an enforcer.

First move, trade Wiseman and Paschall to Detroit for Plumlee and Bey. Why Plumlee, playoff tested vet with both Denver and Portland, averaged 9.4 rebounds this past year, averaged 3.6 assists this past year, and is more relief than both Wiseman and Looney. Looney will get injured and miss time again. Bey, a
Fills the void behind Wiggins, a good shooter already who will get tons of open looks.

Second move, The 5.9 million mid level exception, don't know if it can be separate equally or otherwise, but two players that should be added are Patrick Mills and Markieff Morris. Mills a Spurs vet who is a scoring point guard. Morris adds the toughness, some hard fouls, and more playoff experience off the bench.

The Minny first round pick, hopefully in the six to eight range, Moses Moody. A professional shooter already at his age with a seven foot wingspan, should be a protypical three and d player.

The Dubs own pick, 14th, I say trade the pick and acquire Wendell Cater junior from the Magic. Back to Looney being a constant health risk. Cater has played at 270 pounds, his listed weight, should slim down to 250, to improve stamina and his game. Almost averaged a double double in limited minutes.

Bench now has playoff tested vets, shooters, rebounders, a thug, and youth.

Markieff Morris got the minimum salary and he still wasn't that good.

So does this roster have room for #7, #14 AND possibly Jessup and Nico?

In addition to Wiseman coming back?

Maybe trade one of those picks and Wiseman even if the return isn't an all-star?

So you want to keep our two second round picks and trade a lottery pick this year and last years #2 sky high potential pick for a non-allstar player?

Welcome to the Golden State Kings!

No I don't want to. But there are a lot of people who think Jessup and Nico will be big contributors or something.

Question is can we have Jessup and Nico as well as two additional rookies and Wiseman coming back?

Thing is, team played best after Wiseman went down and they essentially played 7 or 8 guys with Curry going all-out. That can't be sustained over a season though.

Well the answer is no. The next question is... whom do the Warriors want to bet on out of the 5 players you mentioned?

We all hope Jessup can come in and surprise us but lets be honest. He was a late SRP who probably wouldn't have been drafted at all if not for us. Is he the great savior?

Lets hope he is alright and we could use the shooting but realistically we should expect a bigger contribution from our lottery picks. You don't just give them (as well as Wiseman) away for some rotational player. These two lottery picks have the potential to be anything. I say patience grasshopper, it will be worth it.

Listen man, I'm a homer. I love draft picks and developing our own and I hate trading for other teams stars. We have 3 stars already, if they are healthy (along with Looney and Wiggens), we have a very strong starting 5 and can compete with the best of them. I'll take that. Having high potential rookies/second year players in the second unit along with a few vets shouldn't hurt us that much and we don't mortgage our future.

Jessup and Nico can get two-way contracts.

Also, they will bring in Jessup for Summer League and evaluate whether to sign him for training camp or have him go back overseas and keep his draft rights.

Jessup cannot be signed to a two-way contract. He has an NBL contract through next year, so by rules for the Warriors to buy him out it would have to be onto the 15 man roster.

I stand (sit) corrected. Thanks.

Nico can stay on the 2-way.

Jessup has to beat the other camp invites to make it.

Right now the roster is:

Curry /
Klay / Poole /
Wiggins /
Green / JTA / Paschall
Looney / Wiseman

That's all that they have right now (I am assuming Looney opts in). That leaves 6 open spots plus 2 2-way deals.

Add a vet PG, a vet C and they have 4 slots.

Add 2 rookies and they have 2 slots. (at least one who can play SF)

Those 2 slots could be any combination of 2 players of Jessup, Lee, GP2, Baze, other vet min player (need at least one who can play SF)

2-way Nico, probably a UDFA.

It's easy to fix that, send Nico/Jessup to the G-League.

G-League doesn't mean they don't count as roster spots though. I think I'd rather limit g-league to either 2-ways.
