Re: 2021 Playoffs thread
Suns have been so easy to root for since their bubble run, a very impressive feat considering Chris Paul is on their team

Re: 2021 Playoffs thread
clippers succeeding in the enterprise of losing the game twice in 8 seconds and some change, but otherwise they wouldn't be the clippers.... moreover, with PHO missfiring most of the night and booker scoring only 20 points, they were killed by payne and ayton who looked like david robinson at times....
nick ander.... ehm ....playoff p. chocker from the FT line, should LAC lose the series he won't forget that for some time.
suns look on a mission, at the end of the third quarter with booker out for the blow to the nose and without CP15 they found themselves without their main ball handlers / shot creators and still held up when in similar situations there's often the risk of collapsing and taking the partial that decides the game.

DeAndre Ayton yesterday was what Wiseman is supposed to be in 2-3 years.

Got to admit....that had crossed my mind while watching lol. If we keep him...let's hope that's the case.

This is why he should be studying Ayton and Embiid. But when I hear from our camp that they want him to look at Rudy who gets embarrassed during the PS, only thing I can do about our camp is laugh.

Wiseman is going to be a stud for us in no short time. Just give the kid some time to sort his growing pains and he'll be fine.
I mean, if you watch his highlights you can see he definitely has talent. His first bucket of the season, that layup he did against Brooklyn, when I saw that I was already taken for the ride.

One thing I heard about in the last Warrior pod + / - of the season, Steph wore a Wiseman jersey when he left the playin game vs the Grizz. Might have just been the first jersey he found, or it could be a Lebron-like move I'm assuming to keep him.

You're talking about the news the other day who said he's modeling himself after Gobert?
That article was hugely a troll job, its title didn't match the text! The title was just a clickbait by some reporter.

100% in agreement with you!
Also, for as much as KD did for this franchise (brought us 2 championships, giving up salary so that the team could resign veterans, gave up his body and ending up injured), he, KD, is not the person whom Wiseman should be calling for advice during the season.

Re: 2021 Playoffs thread
Love this Phoenix team.
Payne came across as a goofball in the postgame media session, but that's just a shallow take, because he plays with intelligence, confidence, and fire. Booker and Ayton are incredibly likeable guys. I love the way Monty Williams has them playing, they're all in on each other and have great comraderie.
The Clippers, on the other hand, are rapidly plummeting on the likeability scale. Beverly and Morris are **** and do **** stuff that serves no basketball purpose, just to be ****. I'm glad to see Paul George do well in these playoffs, but he goes foul hunting a lot, sweeping his arms up in an unnatural motion to draw fouls or hooking the arm of the defender. I cannot stand that stuff.
Jae Crowder can be a borderline jerk, but Beverly and Morris are an order of magnitude worse. Chris Paul still does Chris Paul things, but being on this team seems to have moderated his worse tendencies and brought out the best version of himself.
I love what I'm seeing from Deandre Ayton. Like others have said, this is the goal for Wiseman, and this is the future of the center position in the current era -- someone who is impactful on both ends (unlike Gobert and Jokic) and is athletic enough to defend in space (unlike Embiid) and not be played off the court against a small-ball lineup. Absolutely love the guy.
I'm all-in on Phoenix to win the title. I thought this is what Utah could be, but they didn't measure up. It didn't help that Conley was out hurt and Mitchell played hurt, but I still see Phoenix as the more complete and better team.

I don't think the Warriors actually want Wiseman to play exactly like Rudy.

Atlanta isn’t really star-struck by much of anybody anymore
This movie is like the Rocky Horror Picture Show where everyone knows all the lines.

I'm scratching my head at their success. They have a lot of young, FRP talent making plays and playing well in the clutch in their first playoffs games.
But as a team, they're not shooting the lights out or anything.
Trae's numbers look average but the one thing that stands out is he's getting to the line about 9 times a game and making almost 8 of his 29 PPG average in 12 playoffs games. These stats do not include the game 1 win vs. Bucks though.
https://www.espn.com/nba/team/stats/_/name/atl
So I guess the NBA really wants Trae to become a big rising star, because they're giving him the superstar treatment, untouchable. For comparison, Steph has averaged only 4.2 FTA in his career and 5.3 FTA in his playoffs career. "Only" 26.5 PPG in the playoffs, though 45/40.1/90.6 as teams are allowed to be way more physical with him in the postseason.
So essentially, they're putting Trae on the line at same or greater rate in these playoffs than in the regular season.
Collins is shooting 54.3/38.9/87.1 on 13.9 PPG. He's not getting as many shot attempts as in the regular season but he's absolutely delivering.
Huerter's efficiency is way up, 48.2/40.4/66.7. And those aren't just catch and shoot attempts, he's creating off the dribble.
So Hawks may have to pay Collins what he wants, gonna have to max out Trae, probably pay Huerter well. They're going to also extend Hunter. So you figure they're probably going to let Reddish walk in a couple of years. May not be able to pay Okongwu in a few years if they keep Trae, Collins, Huerter, Hunter.

Re: 2021 Playoffs thread
Can you imagine....getting rebounding and scoring numbers like Collins on the Warriors ever? Imagine how much pressure that would take off the rest of the team if we got ANY production out of the PF and Center spots.
That's why we have to upgrade Draymond or Looney to get bigger and more offensively skilled. Like playing 3 on 5 sometimes.

The NBA is actually seriously considering changing the rules to take FTs away from Trae starting next year.

I think that is intended to be spelled W-I-S-E-M-A-N.

This is the major issue with the team right now. The most dominant lineup is one where 2/5 guys are worthless when it comes to scoring. Really hope Wiseman develops a good amount this year & Olynyk gets picked up.
