Kuminga has All-Star potential. The tools are amazing, and the flashes are already there, and keep appearing more often as the days passes.

He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, and the environment around him helps a lot too.

That's a recipe for success.

It's that simple for me; all the day to day concerns are just growing pains on the road to his maturity, both as a player and as a person.

Are there really day-to-day concerns? The kid is from the **** Congo and came to a new country as a young teen to play a sport. Now he's playing basketball at a high level. If that's not maturity idk what is - the only day to day concerns I see are normal rookie growing pains. He's already way surpassed my expectations - thought he'd do nothing for 2 years.

Not hating on you or anything, just sharing my excitement for Jonathan.

No concern from me, just stating what some other posters have said in the previous 2/3 pages.

For example, criticism on his rebounding from a 5 game or whatever sample.

Or not playing hard, etc.

That lineup with Kum, Wiggs, Steph, Klay, Looney is very intriguing. JK brings a whole new dimension than what draymond does. For one, the difference in athleticism between the two is like night and day. Kuminga's scoring potential is so much greater than draymond's as well. His slashing ability with and without the ball as a rookie is already solid. Would much rather have draymond healthy, but seeing kuminga get these early opportunities is a nice silver lining.

Has anybody floated the nickname "Minga the Merciless" for Kuminga yet? Maybe I'm the only one that loves that old Flash Gordon movie.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

I'm going with KuJo. It's first two letters of his last name and first two letters of his first name. Just like you'd find him in a phone book. Kuminga, Jonathan. Any objections? Okay, it's settled then. KuJo it is.

Saw someone on the general board use that the other night, it kinda works...if you appreciate campy 80s science fiction operas. But I think it's too long for a nickname, most of the best nicknames are a single word. "Minga" is probably going to be it since it comes naturally.

Not bad. Personally I like KONG but...

KuJo and MoJo (Moody) fits the bill.

Or would that MooMo if we use the same rule as KuJo?

I think we need to slow our roll on Kuminga being the next coming.

Remember Eric Paschall? "Going to be the next....!" fill in the blank. He's not even in the league now.

Yes I project Kuminga higher. But let's not get carried away. Just look at the highlights from Paschall and it just goes to show you that unrefined young players are a big time roll of the dice. Heck...the way it's going now, Wiseman may be a injury prone kid that never develops.

Paschall? Sure he's in the league. We'll see him Sunday when Utah comes to town.

I think the main issue with Kuminga right now is how Kerr is coaching him.. He doesn't seem to have a typical immature, unsure rookie mentality, so I think all the kyle shanahan-esque decisions that are made with his PT arent doing anything to endear him to his role or make him play better. If you give him a defined role and let him sink or swim and figure it out.. he can be a contributor this year imo.. But he isn't Jordan Bell which is what Kerr seems to think and its kinda odd.

He also needs to be playing Center and only Center right now

Paschall, as a 23 year old rookie, averaged 14/5/2 in 28 mpg in a tanking Warriors team.

Kuminga will be 23 years old in his 5th season.

The 5 in our system leads our defense, calling out rotations and covering for blown assignments. That is what Kuminga is worst at right now so that might be putting him in a position to fail.

I love this kid!

He is learning very quick.

Remember his clunkfest at the FT line? He basically fixed it. Could get better, but he is not Biedrins like after that game.

Then his 3 point shooting looks good. Curry like. Okay, Curry sucked at it recently. But he does not chuck if he is not why open.... And making them. My favorite part.
