I am not opposed to the idea of acquiring Kevin Love (Cavs buyout his contract?); however, are you advocating that the Warriors start Kevin Love at the center position? Are you concerned with Love's inability to adequately cover a smaller player on the pick and roll?

I like your "out-of-the-box" thinking!

At the other end of the spectrum is bluemanhoop.com. Their take on who should start at center for the Warriors: https://bluemanhoop.com/2021/08/25/start-center-golden-state-warriors/

Looney should start because of how we've done it, but ultimately they should all be tabbed for 14mpg with Draymond picking up the other 6 in the death squad

I'd like to see if that's actually the case. I don't want any part of him, he's a terrible fit and oft-injured, and we have 3 rotational Cs in Looney/Wiseman/Bjelica already. If we use the 15th slot on a big, make it someone like Chriss, who has experience in the system, can play a little defense, and is the proper archetype for what we're trying to do

I'd even be willing to bring in guys like MKG (could play the Oubre role but knows not to shoot), Thon Maker (at least there's potential there), Shabazz Napier (there's the handler everyone wants), or even Ian Manhimi (set screens, rebound, be Zaza)

Saw a story yesterday on the worst contracts in the NBA. #1 worst contract? Kevin Love.

Starting the season I'd imagine it would be Looney 15, Bjelica 10, Draymond 5-8, Wiseman 15. Something like that, but maybe Bjelica gets way less and we keep him at the 4 for longer stretches. Looney I'd actually expect far more than 15 (career he is at about 18) but I'm being conservative there.

As Wiseman plays better I can see him earning more time. But the reality is, barring injury, we don't have to gift him minutes. The main variable for me is Bjelica. I just don't know how the team views him now coming off his weirdest year in the NBA. There's a world where he plays 2 mpg at the 5 early on and Wise eats those mins.

Love doesn't want to be bought out, so that ends that.

I still think he'll be bought out, either sooner or later, but I seriously doubt he will end up on the Warriors no matter what. Which is alright with me.

Yeah, I think it’s just going to be a staring contest until either Love or the Cavs blinks.

It’s not that he doesn’t want to be bought out, it’s that he doesn’t want to give up much of the $60M he’s owed by contract over the next 2 years. And conversely, the Cavaliers would be happy to buy him out, but for way less than the $60M. It’s just a matter of who makes what compromise. But eventually one of them will.

I just think Kerr would really like him. He's got good vision passing so he can create a bit out of the post, can rebound, and most importantly can hit the 3. Not as good as Zaza defensively, but not that much worse.

Any interest in Juancho Hernangomez who is supposedly available?

What does Juan provide that Belly doesn't, other than Belly being a better shooter and passer. Seems redundant at best and a downgrade to what we hope to get from Belly at worst.

If DeAndre Jordan is bought up and wants to come, do we want him?

Or Marc gasol if DAJ goes to the LA?

For the minimum, ofc.

i'm on the fence with both of them, not sure they still have something left in the tank.

Doesn't seem to be a priority for the team and I mostly agree with that. To start the season, we have enough Centers to take up minutes – although it might be useful to just sign a big body we kind of like to a 2-way contract. If halfway through the season it turns out that our Center rotation is insufficient for the playoff rotation or season finale – either because of injuries or insufficient performance by Wiseman – then we can still look at what's available at the buyout market, and potentially even sign someone for more than the minimum.
