Transparency in sports means you lose leverage and diminish valuable assets. You can be transparent to a point...but this is how it's always been. I don't understand why OP thinks this is a new phenomenon?

It doesn't take a PhD to figure out you bridge the gap by trying to develop some young guys while still playing vets to try and win now. How else would you do it?

Teams don't owe the fans or the media anything in terms of transparency. They're private companies. They put a product out there and you can either take it or leave it but they don't need to disclose anything that's happening behind the scenes (99% of fans aren't reading online forums and don't care anyway).

One main reason I would never bet on sports either.
