I don't think you all realize how good Moody is going to be

Post#1 » by EvanZ » Mon Oct 11, 2021 6:23 pm

Warriors fans keep looking at Kuminga and Wiseman like that dude in the boyfriend meme. Moody is the real thing folks! Very very very few 19-year olds play with as much poise as this dude already shows. Get used to saying "Damn Moses Moody is legit." This dude is going to be part of the future core.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

I just hope Kerr figures that out quickly.

The 2 and 3 spot sorta has a logjam for minutes with Poole, Klay, Wiggins, Iguodala, Minga and Porter. Hopefully Moody gets his minutes in.

Kuminga and Porter are currently 4's. Sure they could play some spot minutes at the 3 but Porter doesn't have the athleticism and Kuminga doesn't have the shooting ability (yet) to be considered at 3 right now.

Of course, it's all about how you mix and match. A front line of Kum/Porter/Bjeli would make Kuminga effectively the 5 (screener/rim runner/dunker) on offense but he'd likely guard the wing on defense. So I guess thinking about positions in a linear or global way is a moot point anyway.

Can only hope that management helps and takes Bradley off as an option? I'd guess Lee gets first crack at that rotation spot, even though it should be Moody.

I think pretty much everyone on here was on board with drafting Moody (some even at #7) so I don't think he's being underestimated in these parts. You don't see that kind of consensus on a draft pick here very often, I don't even remember Stephen Curry having that kind of support.

That said, I don't expect him to be a superstar, but I definitely think he will be able to contribute early and often. He's got length, decent 3 point shooting, defensive chops, good BBIQ, and a willingness to learn. I think Kerr will come to trust him off the bench a lot sooner than Kuminga for example.

My favorite Moody moment is when Krysten Peek told him the Warriors were in win now mode and he responded with "I'm in win now mode too".

Too bad we didn't trade Poole when he finally became a minor asset last year!

On the topic, Moody is going to be very good for us. His catch-and-shoot game is legit and only going to improve, and I have high hopes that he'll develop into savvy multi-positional defender – and maybe he can even become a tertiary playmaker down the road. That being said, anything positive he gives us this year is gravy and shouldn't be counted on, as it almost always is the case with young Rookies on win-now teams.

I wanted Kuminga. I didn't have a clear answer at #7 if Kuminga was gone... I felt there was a big dropoff after him.

I was fine with Moody at 14 though.

With Poole looking the way he does, I'm not sure the Warriors need an Avery Bradley / GP2 defensive guard type of player.

Let Poole run the backup Point Guard spot (and starting 2 until Klay gets back), and play him next to a true wing when he's not next to Curry. Should open up minutes for DLee and Moody.

Hope he gets a chance with real NBA rotation guy in the remaining preseason games.

Agree with all of this. Has the added bonus of leaving the 15th spot open for what we really need...a legitimate center.

He was 5th on my pre-draft board.
