Re: Game 31 GSW vs SAC
My guess is Curry/Lee/Moody/Dray/Looney
GP2 comes in for Moody 1st
Kuminga comes in for Dray towards the end of the 1st, and is always paired with either OPJ or Nemo
Starting Moody is a no-brainer. For one, he's a rhythm shooter who's taken the majority of his shots with Jordan Poole running the team. And Poole is good at creating inside, but not outside. So any minutes he can get with Curry and Dray are a good thing. But he also needs experience playing with Draymond because Dray is unique in the way he plays, he cant be simulated, and he frequently goes off-script based on what he sees.
To slam that point home, look at Draymond's first full season as a starter compared to his 2nd. The first full season, he couldnt have been point forward. People had to get used to playing with him because he called so many audibles. Klay wasnt as good with him back then. It takes time for anyone to acclimate.. so any time Moody can get with him is ideal. When Klay returns, that wont be as important, as the Barnes/Durant/Wiggins role is less featured than the spot-up, no dribble 2 guard.

Also known as the Almost Return Of Klay game...
Want to see Kuminga be more aggressive on the boards tonight.

Moody did not do well in his chance - in particular the hesitancy he played with on offense … while I wanted JK to start … I understand needing to keep the shooting on the floor with Poole and Wiggins gone … funny I mentioned Wiggins and shooting how times have changed.

Moody didn't hit his shots. He played good defense and kept the ball moving.. I dont understand the standard people are holding this kid to.
Klay was moved from the bench within 2/3 of a season because even someone as... limited... as Mark Jackson understood that his archetype would not do well off the bench, because he is an off-ball player. And even though he was good, he still needed 3 years (24 y/o) before he returned to an above average TS%. And another year after that for his defense to improve.
Moody is much younger and the weakness/strengths are reversed: His defense is ready now (on and off ball) but his shot hasnt come around. He's been a good shooter every year since being a sophomore in HS, so its pretty safe to assume the shot will come. And the best way to do it is to put him with guys who will give him the best opportunity to hit in rhythm.
So why start Kuminga, when Kuminga's mostly going at defenses on his own? He can do that with the starters, the backups, garbage time.. Moody - like Klay, Draymond, Iguodala - is an enhancement talent that relies on being in a good systemic fit. Guys like Poole and Kuminga, as well as Barbosa, Speights, Jack, Landry, JON.. they don't need a system to get their points, because they did it mostly in isolation. The hope was that Poole could assimilate into the starting lineup while retaining that value (he didn't, so far) and now the hope transfers to Kuminga. Because players who can do that are extremely valuable due to that versatility. We kinda have Wiggins doing that for us now, and he's good in the starting lineup but average at best with the bench squad. Can Kuminga be that player eventually?

Doug Christie looks like he is in shape to become a Covid replacement player.
