That's basically a vet minimum (i.e. the worst players in the league).

He's an above average guard in this league. In his first 3 seasons, he's gone from scrub to a player that can light up bad defenses. The next step in his progression is to figure out how to light up good defenses.

I went from Poole hater to Poole believer. Yes he sucks at D. Yes he is crapping the bed in the playoffs. But he can break down defenses. He's the only Warrior who can do that besides Curry. It's a necessary part of a successful offense to have a player like that on the floor, and Curry can't be on the floor 48 mins. He will get better on the big stage. His defense may never be good, but he has had stretches where it was better, so it is possible to at least not be horrible.

If he stinks in the finals this year the silver lining may be that it's easier to keep him?

I've gone from sign him at all costs, to keep him for a cheap deal around $5m per season, to not givign a rats ass if we cut him tomorrow.

People are in here hoping we can trade him for a high draft pick + young player? Lol, we'd be lucky to trade him for a 2nd rounder.

In the almighty words of jabari parker; "they dont get pay players to play defense".

I dont expect him to ever be good. The problem is that he doesnt put in effort either most of the time. Im hoping he realizes that after going through these play offs.

Poole should be starting. Klay should not. It's been they way since Klay came back in January. They won't beat the Celts with Klay playing vs those starters, and Poole plays better as a starter, more relaxed, more focused. He isn't a 6th man..

This board is crazy pessimistic. NO QUESTION Poole has issues in his game, but he went from 3rd team G-League to being the difference between winning and losing in a lot of games this year for a team in the finals.

Look at the history of the 6MOY winners, their defense, their consistency (or lack thereof), and their contracts ... I think Poole fits REALLY good in that group, and he can still get better.

Hit some huge shots in the last 3 games of the Finals.

Team relies on him in high leverage situations — including with Curry in the game — to put up points and he delivered.

No reason to think he won’t become better either over his second contract.

Amid the celebrations in the locker room after game 6, Poole and Wiggins had this convo.

Following the Warriors' 103-90 NBA Finals-clinching win over the Boston Celtics on Thursday night at TD Garden, both Poole and Wiggins celebrated the championship in the locker room, where they had a sudden realization.

"You a world champion," Poole said to Wiggins.

"You are, too," Wiggins responded.

"And you about to get a bag!" Poole added.

"No, YOU about to get a bag!" Wiggins said to Poole.

"You about to get a BAG," Poole said again.

"We about to get a bag!" the two shouted in unison.

I think Poole would be more conscious of a big extension than Wiggins, since he hasn't really made big money yet -- probably a couple of million before taxes?

Poole is talented and seems a good guy too.
He is young and he will get better.
He is a good athlete, has talent, puts in the work.

I think right now he cannot handle the focus of the defense. He excels when the defenders focus on the other players.
But he will improve for sure and has a case of being Curry lite.

I think a contract 20-25m would be nice for him and the team.
He will have a chance to get paid more in his next contract when Curry retires and he will be better.

The Poole situation will be interesting. The only way his stock gets higher is if he puts up bigger numbers with better defense next season while exclusively coming off the bench. If I was him I'd probably still say **** it and bet on myself. That 4 years 20-25m annual deal will be there next year anyway unless he really stinks.

Wiggins is also fascinating. I still think he will get the Bridges 4 years 90m deal...but didn't these playoffs prove he's better than Mikal? Maybe not better at one specific skill, but more well rounded and versatile.

Suns matching Ayton's offer sheet is why the Warriors are going to keep Poole unless they can get a return back at the trade deadline.

They were acting like Ayton earning too much money would keep their ceiling well below championships yet they can't let him walk for nothing.

We will see what Herro gets, even though the Heat would like to trade him for KD or Mitchell. But he's one of their leading scorers so if they want to contend, they have to keep him.

Similarly I don't see the Warriors letting Poole walk. Even if he got a $30 million a year offer, they'd match it and worry about trading him if necessary later.

But at 23, he's already a key rotation player on a championship team so doubtful the Warriors would let him walk.

I see Jordan Poole as a Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford type player. Nice players to have but at a reasonable price.

which is why they should've traded him last year. it's always better to trade these guys a year early than late , and now you've got a 30m contract on your hands which instantly devalues most players and makes them way harder to move.

Poole raised his value in the last 2-3 months of the season and the playoffs.

IF they traded Poole back in January he might not have brought back as much.

Now, if they trade him before the next trade deadline, he's still earning only like $4-5 million, so the return would be some players on rookie deals like him or vet minimum salaries.

Not much to speak of unless the Warriors can get other teams to add draft assets.

Once he signs an extension, other teams would have to send a lot of salary back as well as trade assets.
