Yeah, it’s hard to see how he can really win here. He’d be working with extreme constraints, vet min contracts only, aging core, probably some negative-value contracts, few assets, low draft picks (and a year with no pick coming). A coach who doesn’t trust young players, won’t do a good job developing them, and has a rigid system that is very difficult to plug players into. The best he can probably do is be in maintenance mode and hope for the best. And the worst could be a lot worse. It’s not an enticing setup.
The only thing enticing about it is those extra millions of dollars. Beats watching daytime TV...
Seriously -- now is the time to make significant trades and re-energize this franchise. The Lakers did it last year at the deadline and almost pulled it off. Maybe Bob just doesn't want to have do it.

Yeah, annoying and clueless most of the time. But, I imagine he does have sources.

You nailed it! And I agree he probably has some sources.

Not good.
Maybe it's a sign of internal problems he didn't want to deal with, like ego battles between ownership/front office/coaching staff/players, apart from the cap issues as well. Speaking from an outsider perspective, obviously.
Or maybe he's just tired of the demands of the job and wants to spend more time with the family, etc.
Regardless, it's next man up mentality for us.
My fear right now is that Lacob will surround himself with "yes men" and insist on returning ALL the core guys for a "last dance" type of run which will go for 3+ years, instead of retooling and better position the team for the medium/long term.

Re: Shams: Bob Myers likely to walk away
now does Kerr sign an extension this offseason or does he go into next year as a lame-duck coach?

He's an agent.. his value doesn't get any higher than it does now. Walk away and his value maintains that height, if he stayed while we transitioned out of the Steph era, he loses his shine
When he does return he's going to get the best available choices of teams/financials.. or could settle into a POBO situation instead of GM. Lots of options for him, think its the smart move for his career

Got to assume Dunleavy takes over.
Does he plan for his legacy and team future by keeping poole and joku?
Does he keep the dream alive by building around steph, klay, and dray?

I wish this was a sign that Draymond is leaving and trading Klay.

will? He did this years ago
Bob was basically just good hair, the Tom to Lacob's Logan (or now Lukas)
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

In the case with Myers, we'll know right away what the main reason was, the family or the team. If he takes the Clippers job, there it is.
In case of Lacob and "yes men", its been happing for a while now, going back to dismissal of West.
Lacob is de facto GM who had showcased his "excellent" GM skills by possibly prematurely killing an era and the two timeline with his "gorgeous" 3 lottery pics. Compounding it with the premature Poole extension instead of trading him at his highest value right after the 2022 title. Regardless of his 2022 Finals ran, you don't give that kind of money to a one-way guard, sporadic in his only positive trait to boot.

I don't think the clippers or the suns are actually good opportunities for Bob. The suns are stuck with 2 stars that do the same thing and they still need someone else to get others good shots. Probably better than the clippers who are stuck with 2 stars who can't play through a full season. He'll have his pick of opportunities when he's ready to return.
