Corey Joseph Appreciation Thread
We hardly knew you Corey.
He's moved into my top 10 of recent guards to play for us that I did not enjoy with my eyeballs.
1. Brad Wanamaker
2. Chris Chiozza
3. Corey Joseph
4. Nico Mannion
5. Charles Jenkins
6. Acie Law
7. Quinn Cook
8. Jacob Evans

Re: Corey Joseph Appreciation Thread
I was excited when we signed Cory Joseph this off season. To have a 3rd string point guard that is a veteran and a ball handler who doesn't turn the ball over much? Huge.
Never understood the dislike of a 3rd string PG, but I thought he was safe player for us to be 3rd string.

Cojo was fine as an actual 3rd string PG, the issue with him was Steve's decisions with him. Same thing has happened at times with CP3, both guys do well in their natural role.
Thank you Corey

Re: Corey Joseph Appreciation Thread
I was tired of Warriors twitter bashing Joseph all the time. As if he was being paid $10m + and was our starting PG.

Mullin said in postgame that we signed him on a recommendation from Popovich that he was a good leader

I figured there had to be a connection like that. There was no reason for Kerr to play him that much. His play cost is a few games and some chemistry building.
Thanks for the 2nd rounder, I guess.

I was excited too, but he's the 5th string PG behind Podz and Green and was getting more minutes than guys that actually fill a need. He is small, slow and he just can't do anything on the floor.
We have 15 guys with 100+ minutes. He ranks:
15 of 15 in PER
15 of 15 in VORP
15 of 15 in BPM
15 of 15 in WS/48
15 of 15 in TRB%
15 of 15 in FTr%
15 of 15 in TS%
And I'm not impressed with his ability to not turn the ball over because he ranks 362nd of 365 players in Points Per 100 Possessions and 360th of 365 players in PER. It's easy to not turn the ball over when you don't do anything.
This team needs size, scoring, defense and an interior presence. Not a do nothing 5th string point guard closing out games against LeBron James.
And like I said, I was excited to get him... but it's been painfully obvious that he's not an NBA player and a terrible fit since the first game of the season. And yes, his short presence on the floor during that first game cost us the win (as well as a few others). viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2327137&start=500

Better than Brad Wanamaker
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

CoJo and Podz were great together while CP has been out. He was a great last minute pivot once Jerome got more money with the Cavs, and it worked out really well since unfortunately Jerome has been injured all season.
Now we just need to get lucky with health for the rest of the season with our main rotation guys.

I would have had Bimbo Coles way up there. CoJo was just a seat filler.

Bimbo's a good old name, I'd raise with Mookie Blaylock. Traded for his veteran leadership, he immediately announced that he does other things than basketball as to why he skipped practice to play golf, and then promptly became an alcoholic

Re: Corey Joseph Appreciation Thread
Coxy's list made me nostalgic and prompted me to do a "where are they now?" research project:
1. Brad Wanamaker - played 1 game for Washington last year and retired
2. Chris Chiozza - plays for Spanish team Baskonia
3. Corey Joseph - free agent
4. Nico Mannion - plays for Italian team Pallacanestro Varese
5. Charles Jenkins - plays for Serbian team FMP
6. Acie Law - OKC front office
7. Quinn Cook - free agent, played in China in 2023
8. Jacob Evans - herding sheep in Swiss Alps

Wait did people actually enjoy Jarrett Jack?

Guilty.
I liked that dude. I thought he gave us good minutes in 2013. He and Carl Landry were likeable bench vets that year for me.

Chiozza, Evans and Wanamaker are the medalists for me... in that order.
Jarret Jack could actually play.
