The Warriors have a TJD problem

21 minutes, 0 rebounds, relentlessly attacked by the opposing team

He doesnt help on the boards, he doesnt help on defense, his only marketable skill is his hands, as he can catch and dunk pretty well

Either play SloMo at C or give Post a chance, because this is just getting worse as the year goes on

The tjd on vs loon on is crazy.

I was screaming for Loon to come back in earlier than he did in the 4th. I have no idea why Looney isn't allowed to play longer, he didn't look particularly tired and often looks fresh and still plays short stints. 27 minutes tonight, I think he can do that consistently if not 30 minutes. He's clearly our best center and should start, there's absolutely no question.

And yes our #2 need is another center. TJD has not seen any improvement this year unfortunately.

If tjd starts again, kerr needs his head examined. It's time to look at the back up C market unless we pay dray and slomo more.

Re: rebounding

Tjd and jk are alot alike. Both guys have no clue how to rebound, so they just jump or ball watch. It's a big reason you can't playing then together at the 4 and 5.

JK had 7 rebs in 32 min despite not being near the rim all that much (and not playing C at all). Tjd was only near the rim and his main job is to rebound and defend. He had 0 in 20+ min. While I agree with your broader point, they are not the same.

JK put his body on guys many time tonight to help his teammates get the boards...had a great boxout on Adams late in the game.

another "youngster" that should be inserted in any possible trade.

I'm not sure how we end up with so many players that are really useful in one way and a real problem in another, rather than well balanced players heh TJD is kinda interesting at the offensive end, but we have to be careful who we play him with if he can't/won't rebound. Draymond is great on D, but he can't shoot (though I guess he's trying to prove us wrong). Hield can shoot, but he's a liability on D. Loon can defend but can't shoot. etc. etc. I guess to Podz' credit in this discussion, he's kinda good at most things but not great at much of anything. But all these guys we have with major shortcomings make it really hard to put together a lineup. We quickly run into, "Nobody on the floor will be able to shoot", "Nobody will grab any rebounds", "We'll be a sieve on defense.", etc. etc.

I think the one criticism of dray offensively is his TOs and inability to finish inside. His shooting has been the biggest bright spot in his offensive game since the start of last season. Everything else is pretty spot on.

He's a situational backup big guy, that can spot start depending on matchups. He reminds me of Larry Nance.

TJD needs to learn to bomb 3's if he wants to play big minutes.

He has a had a couple bad games, but I am not worried at this point. He has the skill set and just needs to improve. He won't be a unicorn and I like to see him as a walking double double. His ability to pass is a nice plus.

His entire season has been bad. What skillset does he have that's worth investing in? His plus skills are that he can pass well and can dunk. Is there anything else he does at an average level? He's not big enough to defend big threats (or rebound against them) and doesnt have enough skill to keep up on the perimeter with the smaller threats. No range, bad FT shooter, and he's already 24. He's a passable backup center, and he's arguably got a tenuous grip on that too

He'd need 36 minutes just to barely get to double digit boards... has a boxout rate that's almost half of Looney's. And most damning, he frequently doesnt explode out of his picks to get dunks, the one thing he can do that's unique to the team. He's a severe drain at this point... but at least he isnt starting anymore

if you combine podz, kuminga and tjd you'd have a pretty good player

That sounds like John Collins with worse shooting.

Sometimes a player needs to hit the pine for awhile to wake up. It's time for TJD to get some DNPs.

As well as everyone played tonight. The tjd dnp might have been the most vital.
