Seriously though, he has made moves that have not panned out.

Draymond extension.

Trading for CP3 and letting his contract turn into nothing. I know most of you will point to getting off Poole's contact as a win but he made that deal early and the CP3 year was a waste and we will never know what other options were available.

Drafting Podz and TJD were probably his best moves but they looked better last season than this one.

This seasons big additions were Melton, Hield and Slomo.

The good: Melton when healthy. Getting Schroder without giving up too much.

The bad: Melton when injured, which has been frequently in his career. Slomo, he adds nothing to a team that already had Draymond. Hield, he is super streaky and is the same player every team he has played for is glad to see leave. Schroder has struggled since joining the team.

Let's see if he can pull a rabbit out of his hat and make a trade deadline deal to clean up this mess of a roster.

The Dray extension has not been good. But it was always going to be a bad extension. An undersized big who relies on hustle, outworking bigger guys.

The cp3 contract, I guess that goes on MDJ but that's probably a Lacob thing. Money is always an owner issue. And not trading CP3 for anything to save money is a money issue.

Hield is actually a part of our best lineup that we just don't use. Is that on MDJ that the best lineup isn't being used more frequently?

I really don't expect us to be aggressive at the trade deadline, kind of handcuffed if we aren't allowed to trade young players or future draft picks. And really the only player that is going to make a difference is Zion, which for some reason we aren't interested in.

Finally the right thread. But i think its too soon to blame Mike. We need to see the next offseason. If he doesnt start a rebuild at that point then they will have a Dunleavy problem.

lol MDJ has done an excellent job, unless the PG13 domino is people’s issue. Though I doubt he’d be acting alone in such a big deal

With minimal assets he found great fits and gave the roster a fighting chance. Using any level of advanced stats confirms this as clearly as any advanced stat could

He’s the one part that definitely should be retained beyond the Steph era.. maybe the most important person to retain, all staff included

Not sure I agree he's done an excellent job. He's basically enabling Kerr and Lacob's agenda and not really doing what needs or needed to be done to actually make the Warriors the best positioned for the future. Or the present. It's a bunch of mediocre treadmilling bs which I've now been saying for two years.

They couldn't decide which direction to go and there's way to much hedging and groupthink. Nobody wants to make a tough decision and that includes Steph and Draymond tbh.

Not landing PG13 is a positive for MDJ, IMO

he should cut Waters and trade TDJ so that Kerr has to play Looney and Hield.

Too late, Waters' contract became guaranteed yesterday.

amazing...we continue to play a guard who is shooting 33% on threes!

Yeah the GM(s) has been the Warriors real problem. The roster is bad. Bob pooped the bed before he left, and I thought Dunleavy started off with some nice salvage moves but he's really blown it since his start. Draymond needed some kind of behavior clause in his contract that would have let the Warriors reduce salary or terminate a year.

The last 2 off-seasons we had chances to swing for strong players and just sat around doing nothing. Never selling high on young players. I thought Dunleavy had a nice start when he turned Poole into CP3, and I fully expected us to *trade* CP3 and keep that salary slot to make the team better. But we just let it go for nothing, and now the team has nothing.

I didn't like the Buddy or Kyle signings, and they have turned out to be zeros for us. If you watch other teams, they all have more athletic players who can shoot well. We had a sell high moment this off-season with Podz, and we blew it. We let assets bleed off because we're too scared to make a move.

And he's totally left Curry out to dry with no real 2nd scorer. Many of us have been pounding the table for 2+ years that the team lacks a 2nd offensive threat, and here we are now in the toilet.

Fair, let me qualify it a bit: I dont think MDJ had the authority to pull the trigger on a huge deal on his own, nor do I think he was given anything but a directive of trying to make the team competitive with minimal assets. IE - dont use the CP3 contract, now fill out the roster with MLE + Klay's S&T. And within those parameters, I think adding someone like Melton, a bench big like SloMo, and a microwave like Hield was a pretty impressive showing. Regardless of Kerr's questionable usage of them, on paper those guys are excellent fits and solid rotation-fillers

If MDJ was the one who held back JK in a Clipps offer that dominoed into also not pursuing Lauri heavily.. then that would definitely change my view of him

If you're really approaching it like there may not be a next year you push all your chips in to try to win now - Kuminga, Podz, Moody, TJD, Quinten Post, multiple future first round picks. Everything.

IDK how much you can blame MJD for the roster's shortcomings, most of the problems (years of whiffed picks, an aging roster, salary cap handcuffs) he inherited, and most of the limited moves he's been able to make in free agency and with far less than prime draft picks he's made the most of. Plus he did not open the checkbook for Klay.

That would be my criticism of MJD, he should have torn it down already. But was that even a possibility? Does Lacob let a new, first time GM come in and burn it down?

Doesn't take balls to let Klay walk?

Letting Klay walk was the right move 100% of the time. Took balls.

Trading for Schroder was a solid to very good move considering he sent 2nd round pics AND Schroder stays a trade asset for Feb.

Podz was a good pick. TJD ... eh. My issue is why make a trade for an undersized center when size is an issue for this team.

I give Dunleavy a B up to this point.

Can 100% get behind this take. MDJ should have until the trade deadline. If he fails, get him outta here for a 2nd time
