Jimmy Butler Awesome Trade, Great Job!

This OP is made on the Friday before Jimmy plays his first game as a Warrior so, sight unseen, I'm declaring it a fantastic trade by our FO.
Jimmy is exactly what this team needs. The template of generating offense by perpetually running Steph off screens for open shots or forays to the bucket has come to the end of its useful life because the key pieces have gotten old. Steph just can't convert enough to beat the best teams with the quality of defenders he consistently has chasing him. He has to shoot his 3s too quickly and his layups with too much english to be efficient.
The new offensive framework will be built around Jimmy's midrange and paint scoring causing the defense to sag which will allow Steph to get just that little bit more open. It will pay big dividends.
The other player that will benefit is Kuminga. Largely because Jimmy will become a mentor of sorts for him and Kuminga will develop his game with Jimmy as a template. Kuminga will also be one of the main beneficiaries of Jimmy's passing with many easy shot opportunities and layups resulting.
The guy that may have to recede into the background on offense somewhat is Draymond. But I imagine at this stage of his career, he'll put his ego aside and recognize the necessity of it for the team to win. He might even go to the bench to take the expected Kyle Anderson role(

).
What I'd like to see:
Curry/Podz
Moody/Hield
Jimmy/GP2
Kuminga/Draymond/Gui
Post/Loon/TJD

Someone's gotta take a stand around here. Too many 20/20 hindsight complainers and I-told-you-so-ers.

I am curious if Jimmy will decline the trade kicker. It might help with a late season add. Really hope that he does out of principle. We gave the dude a raise the next two years!

You have to take a stand in order to I-told-you-so.

Apparently his bonus is only $418k. If waiving it allows the Warriors to stay below the tax line I don't see how he could refuse. Lacob could pay Jimmy that out of the change he pulls out of his sofa and car seats.

I realized that after the fact and hoped nobody would catch it. I guess you told me so.

I'm cautiously optimistic on it. One thing that is certain is what they were doing with what they had was not working and was not going to work. Another is that there wasn't a plethora of great other options to improve the roster. My biggest concern other than injury is how will Kerr utilize him? Will he adapt the offense to his talents?
Giannis: not available
Luka: we didn't have a top-10 caliber player to trade
KD: didn't want to play here
LeBron: unrealistic
Cam Johnson: too expensive and not a real difference-maker
Lavine: too expensive and poor defensively
Vucevic: Bad defense and also apparently too expensive
Zion: maybe not available and would cost a lot of assets probably
So yeah, it might not work, but Jimmy is a good option, a direct replacement and an upgrade over who he was traded for, that didn't cost a lot of assets. A big time clutch playoff performer and playmaker with the junkyard dog mentality who brings it every night.
I'm on board. Even if it all flames out it's better than the lifeless mediocrity we've been watching for the last 2 1/2 years.

Not perfect, but we weren't going to go full rebuild. We absolutely got better. But -- too much loyalty to Draymond, it'd have been better to move him than Wiggins (Or maybe they didn't want to pay the extra price, IDK). I am very happy we made this trade.
Overall we addressed our #1 need, a 2nd option, really actually creating a 1A/1B situation which is exactly what Steph needs at this point. We didn't give up that much (1 pick and Wiggins asset wise) and dumped what I thought was a bad contract for us (Kyle). Dennis turned out to be bad for us, so that was fine to move on from, though it didn't matter as he was expiring. So overall I think it was a good trade given the context of "We're not rebuilding now," even though weren't not championship bound.
But the biggest, most important thing, is that we did NOT give up the future. We picked a direction for the next 2.5 seasons, and we only lost 1 FRP. The worst thing we could have done is some wild multiple picks-and-swaps thing like the Suns did for KD. At first I was sad we weren't getting KD, but once you know the package I'm really thankful we passed.
This is the disaster deal we dodged:
[Charania] The Warriors made several aggressive offers (for Kevin Durant), including one framework in a 3-team trade that would've sent Jimmy Butler, Jonathan Kuminga, first round picks, second round picks, and swaps to the Phoenix Suns.
Thankfully we did not do that, and instead have almost all our assets. I think it was a good trade given the circumstances. Sure years later if we don't win a chip, you will be able to look back and say "should have rebuilt earlier" but the NBA is also a business where the owner isn't giving up the #1 jersey seller in the NBA with sold out crowds and we get a chance at a chip. Great trade!
Time for some fun basketball!

Jimmy is going to make us a better team. Will JK step up to be the 4th guy and who will step up to be the 5th guy? This has always been the problem which hasn't been solved. It could be Moody, Podz, GP2, Looney, Buddy. Really think it needs to be a shooter so hopefully it's Moody or Buddy.

Butler: Heat issues in past, hungry for title with Warriors"We good," Butler said. "Pass the ball to Steph. And get out the way. Easy."
"Playing with Steph, I mean everybody knows he's the greatest shooter in the world, greatest shooter in history. Makes my job a lot easier. I probably got a lot more space out there."
These 2 working off each other is going to be devastating.

Jimmy needs to be aggressive. He was working with a lot of space in Miami. I’m excited to see how he looks. He just needs to be able to beat 4v4 when Steph is off the ball.

Butler got to the line a lot. Wonder if whistle now disappears. It is the Refs against the Dubbs as always.

Refs even give the other team 9 seconds to get the ball over half court! It's pretty tiresome.

That call was complete BS, along with a bunch of the Austin sneeze fouls.
But I'm not going along with the rigged stuff unless Jimmy also gets the Steph treatment. The refs are just convinced by the way certain guys sell fouls, whether it's Harden, Shai, or Reaves.
Historically Jimmy has been great at pushing the right buttons for the refs, so I expect that to continue and be a big benefit.

Yeah I’m going to say not to Post starting over Draymond lol. I hope that wasn’t a serious thought.
My guess is Buddy gets hot here pretty soon and gives us but especially Kerr false hope at exactly the wrong time of the season when the playoffs start and Buddy goes cold again. But that’s a problem for another time I suppose.
