NBA Buyout Market

Post#1 » by Dubs 707 » Sat Feb 8, 2025 5:40 pm

I'm not even sure if we have the Cap but here's a list of players who've been bought out recently:

Ben Simmons Nets
Daniel Theis Thunder
Bones Hyland Hawks
Reggie Jackson Wizards

Can one of our cap expertise explain if we're eligible or not. TIA!

Surprised Theis was bought out by the Thunder.

I'm not sure there's every been a steeper drop than bench simmons. Max all nba to a buyout player.

If we had traded dray instead of wiggins, id be all over this.

Steph, Wiggins, jimmy, simmons, and post.

Being a non-Apron team the Warriors can sign a buyout player regardless of what their salary was before. An Apron team can't sign a waived player whose salary was above the NTMLE (about $13M). Cap-wise the W's could sign a vet to a rest-of-season minimum and still have room to fill the roster with a rookie. Some buyouts may get more than the minimum, though.

That would’ve been nice. But the heat have no use for dray, he’d have to be moved somewhere else. Maybe det would’ve been interested but I think Miami actually wanted Wiggins which is surprising that we had to add a 1st as well.

Me too. Most teams want a 3rd center on the roster and Jaylin Williams has never looked like a center to me.

This is the most predictable thing that's happened all season. All the best IG thotties are in LA. I guess the Lakers wouldn't have him.

I wouldn't mind Theis and Bones I guess.

Stretch-ish big and a dime store Poole?

I guess this will be a litmus test of sorts to see how players on the buyout market view the Warriors' postseason chances.

Don't have room for two vets. One vet and a rookie puts them right up against the hard cap.

OK

Didn't see that Kelly O was bought out until now so I would target him first.

EDIT:

He is not available so I guess I would go Theis or Bones.

Hyland and Simmons are team killers.

Simmons and Jackson are unplayable.

Theis is usable, but not what this team needs most.

I’m waiting on Bruce brown otherwise it’s likely we just sign Spencer and Rowe. Though I’d look for anyone that can play poa and be somewhat credible from 3

This.

In fact, I don't want any new vet that Kerr will ultimately play over people on our current squad.

Brown would be pretty handy.

A few reports mention Nance Jr as a candidate. He'd be a good fit.

What veteran sees the W's roster, its coach, and its tough system and thinks - this will help me get a ring and/or get paid?

In the past OPJ, DDV and GP2 used a good season with the warriors for a contract but that was then…
