But that seems like it would be a good result considering all these teams are ahead of us. And if we did end up 1-3, lets hope the win is against the Grizz tonight since that has tiebreaker implications.

The optimistic route is they go all out and get the win tonight…. somehow split the B2B and have a shot at 3-1 against the rockets who we play well.

I'm actually going to the game tomorrow, first time going to a game in decades.

I worry about them resting key players but they really can't afford to rest them and all the old guys opted into playing last night. Otherwise Kerr would have sat them.

But if they keep it up and get a top 6 seed, maybe that takes a lot out of them for the playoffs. Butler's post game interview, he seemed exhausted. Curry sitting on the bench after the game, burying his face in a towel.

Also worry the Curry doesn't hunt for shots in home games as much. All his scoring explosions in the past month, if not longer, have been on road games.

He needs rest but family responsibilities seem to coincide with less energy in home games.

They just played 2 grueling games in 2 nights against 2 of the league's top teams, and 3 out of 4 nights if you count the Memphis game, which was also pretty intense. The 3 old guys all played over 30 minutes in all of those games. Being exhausted is totally understandable and I think even a younger team would be showing fatigue after running that gauntlet.

Remains to be seen if they have anything left for a tough matchup with Houston. Losing it would be a shame because they've put themselves in a great position for higher seeding. Yet I feel like they probably have to win out to have a good shot at holding the #5 position and #6 isn't even safe for them if they slip just a little. Problem is if they end up at either 5 or 6, it's looking almost certain that they'd play either Denver or the Lakers, neither of which I feel very confident in, even though they just beat both teams. But I'd still prefer that to taking my chances with the play-in. This team runs hot and cold and they can lose to any team on any night (see recently losing to Atlanta and Miami consecutively).

Also, the Grizz, Wolves, and Clips are all likely to win tonight, making it extremely tight from 5 to 8 (all 4 teams would be within 1 game of each other).

Neither Denver nor the Lakers have been particularly strong lately so the 3 or 4 is possible with the home advantage. Given how tight the standings are, avoiding the play in comes with having to go all out in the remaining games. That week rest from avoiding the play in is crucial.

That's a quite a long shot. At this point, I would be happy with the Rockets losing to the Warriors, but winning their games vs the Lakers, Clippers, and Nuggets. That would give the Warriors a solid shot at the #3 seed. No idea who would end up #6 in such a scenario.

The issue is that if Houston wins a game they basically lock up the 2 seed and then they won’t need to win any remaining games.

The play in is really causing issues. Like should Dallas / Sacramento really be given a shot to make the playoffs when they’re under .500. Especially when 3-8 is separated by like 2 games. I'm OK with it. It's designed to incentivize all teams to win enough regular-season games to finish 6 or higher. If you finish 7 or 8 and don't make it, that's not on the system, that's on you. You could have avoided it by winning a couple more regular-season games, ones which were winnable but you just didn't show up for or didn't play hard enough in. And the Warriors have A LOT of those games this year (bad teams and teams missing most of their best players), both before Jimmy and after Jimmy, so they have no one to blame but themselves if they don't make it.

I'd just prefer they get 3rd with a game in hand and rest the starters for it. So the old guys can have a few additional days of rest on top of that. Either way, lets see what happens tonight.
