Is Kuminga Donezo?

If he’s getting DNP’d at this point he’s almost certainly out of their future plans?

HiRez wrote:Yeah, I don't see any way he's not gone, unless he gets some really low-ball offer and the Dubs match for a year compensated as a bench player. You certainly can't pay him $20M, $30M+ when Kerr has made it very clear he will not play him. It's unfortunate because it seems like for several years now there has been a communication problem between Kerr and the front office (Lacob) that was never resolved. They had completely different ideas about their plans for Kuminga that were constantly out of sync. If they made a decision a year ago, they could have gotten something for him, now it looks like his value to the Warriors is close to zero, which means they are very unlikely to get anything of value for him. At this point it's better for everyone if he goes elsewhere but they blew an opportunity to extract value out of the situation.

I think they try to strike a lowball deal, and trade Moody to free up minutes.

JK probably should've gotten the 5 minutes that Jimmy sat, but I wonder who said no to that.

That's what I mean about the Kerr <---> Lacob/MDJ miscommunication, or being out of sync. As you said, for so long, it's mind-boggling they have not resolved it. Have these guys not gotten in a room and had this conversation?
Lacob: Hey, we really want Kuminga to play so we can see what he is before our hands are tied with a new contract decision.
Kerr: I don't trust him and I can't play him.
Lacob: Why not?
Kerr: He makes dumb mistakes, doesn't switch fast enough on defense, doesn't get after rebounds like I want him to, and doesn't act like the simple waystation I want him to be in my motion offense system.
Lacob: OK, but can't you, you know, do a little actual coaching on these things to help him along, and give him more playing time to learn and grow? Instead of yanking him from the game for 1 mistake?
Kerr: No. He doesn't work in the system.
Lacob: Can you perhaps modify your system to accommodate what he does well? Because we have seen he can be quite useful...
Kerr: No.
Lacob: We seem to be at an impasse. You say you can't play him because you're trying to win games. But we keep losing games to really bad teams like the Sixers and Spurs, not to mention playoff teams like the Rockets and Clippers. Couldn't we have used some more athleticism, speed, and size to counter those guys?
Kerr: ...
Lacob: I see here he's...[checks notes]...our 2nd-highest scorer per 36 minutes and per 100 possessions, and we seem to struggle to score a lot, using your system.
Kerr: ...
Lacob: And he shoots the 2nd most free throws on the team per 36/100 to Jimmy Butler.
Kerr: ...
Lacob: You say he's a bad rebounder. But he rebounds at a higher rate than Jimmy Butler does. Or Andrew Wiggins for that matter. We just got out rebounded 42-25 in the Clippers game, where you didn't play him a single minute.
Kerr: I have a plane to catch. [walks out]
Yes, I'm kind of joking, but it's baffling. I'd kill to know what happens when Kerr and Lacob talk. Or if they even do.
