Kuminga options if traded
Looks like a re-signed Kuminga might work in a few deals where team might actually want him:
Kings, Miami, Bulls.
Of these options, which would you prefer?

Gafford extension at 3 years $60m is JK’s ceiling. 2 + 1 PO deal is what we should offer JK. We can trade him during the season or next offseason.

Por fans seem to think they're flipping Jrue. Kuminga for Jrue would make sense in both directions.

Malik Monk would be the best get, but good luck with that.

Of these options I would probably prefer Wiggins, but in order to get Wiggins you would need to add Moody which doesn't give us great value. I wouldn't mind Coby White as a JP type replacement but do not want Vuc since Kerr would be forced to start him at the beginning of the year and we'd have all year debating whether he should be a bench player. TBH I just can't see Lacob trading JK for any of these players when he's said no to much better players. His ego would take a massive hit and he'd realize he's been wasting the last years of Curry's prime.

Monk is supposedly on the block. He most likely is coming off the bench and they have 2 young sgs (Carter and Ellis) and Lavine already. Would probably have to be a larger trade and not straight up, but is possible. Something like Vuc goes to Sac, Monk comes here and JK goes to Chi or something like that.

Why not just moody, podz and contract filler (TJD?) for Monk. He makes 18.8, so moody, podz, tjd, and santos would work, salary wise.

Here's what I predict will happen
We bring him back, and then decide to play him more minutes to increase his trade value
His numbers predictably go up, and at the trade deadline Joey becomes enamored again with Kuminga due to the new increased numbers (as do many fans) and decide not to sell again
Playoffs come and we get bounced in the 2nd round because he is the same empty calorie player he's always been
Someone makes a thread that we should've traded for Caruso in 2024
and on and on we go

Keeping Kuminga to get 1:1 salary value for his trade during the season is somewhat smart but keeps the overall cost very high for the payroll, now if GS can get a good player on 1/2 the price of Kumiega's, that brings in a player they think will fit with this group and drops the tax bill considerably.
If ownership doesn't care about the money, pay Kuminga where he's happy, say his time is coming (to keep him content) and then decide later in the season to either go for it with Curry or rebuild because the team isn't close.
If it's me, I'm trying to slot Kuminga in as a scoring 6th man for GS to keep him happy with his touches, it's what Miami did with Herro.

For this team? Particularly for the next two seasons? I would disagree but I do think yours is a reasonable position. Which is why I didn't include picks going in either direction. I can only hope Sac agrees with you and we can get a late 1st or early 2nd out of it. I think Monk's shooting and ball handling would be great next to steph. Like a smart, feisty, ultra-competitive JP. Can run the 2nd unit and play a little pg (not enough to start but more than podz). Not a terrible defender but podz could improve to be better than monk. I also think monk is good rebounder and we wouldn't lose much there.
Seems like a good consolidation trade but, again, I can see how other fans/gms/etc. would value podz/moody more than monk. Is it the continuity and 2 rotations players vs 1 or something else? I'd rather do Moody and a future pick for cobi white but it's chicago, he's expiring, and I like monk more. By enough that I'd send out Podz to do it. It's probably selling a bit low on both moody and podz but I haven't been a believer in either for a while so I will admit I'm a bit biased. Mostly, I just don't believe that either will consistently shoot the ball.
