Honestly, How does Joe Lacob Look Curry in the Face?

Post#1 » by Romulus » Tue Jul 1, 2025 3:39 pm

Sure, he's paying him 60m a year now. But he's making BILLIONS in profit. And every other team with a superstar is currently moving heaven and earth to build a team capable of contending for a championship.

Having no center whatsoever, acting like Podz is a legit starting 2 guard, it's really comically sad.

So I ask, how does Joe Lacob go on TV/radio and PRETEND he's actually trying to win these days? How does he look at Steph in the face?

Trade him, by god, if you aren't going to try.

He just paid an over the hill Jimmy Butler 60M/yr. That was his move whether you like it or not.

Paying him and steph 120M/yr kiinda limits what they can do.

I think he looks steph in the face and goes, "how 'bout them 4 rings, huh? Who would have ever thunk it? and all with one franchise.. storybook stuff, man."

I'm really not sure how you can be this negative unless you started following this team when KD joined and think that is what reality is like in the NBA.

We added our 2nd star with Jimmy Butler and improved drastically as a team. All we need now is a center and we're competitive. I doubt we're going to compete for a chip with OKC but at least we'll have a very good team.

The salary cap is designed to do this obviously. They even tweaked it after the 4th title to further limit GSW, despite the extra money having been paid to a guy no one else wanted and whom GSW were ridiculed for signing.

I really hope there is some plan for the Center position though particularly now they have let Looney go, status quo there will rather limit any favourable outcome from the money they are paying Curry and Butler and the OP might be half right.

Mostly I'm confused why there wasn't a melodramatic, naysaying post yesterday. Hope everything is okay.

With Turner signing with the Bucks, it looks like all the quality 5's are gone -- especially if Ayton signs with the Lakers. With Looney gone, the Dubs are even more in need of a 5. I'm thinking that they assumed JK would have a market, but it looks like he doesn't. So if that drags on, they'll need to wait until the trade deadline, at least, to do anything substantial. Last year they were playing really well until Melton went down. With his torn ACL, he's not necessarily even a partial solution. JK, Podz, Moody -- the team has a lot of fair-to-middling players that don't necessarily move the needle, either for the Dubs or for trade partners. The Dubs history of bad draft picks is coming back to bite them.

Here's the problem...

When an already aging Steph continues to leave nothing on the table what do you expect??

While all the other teams continue to sign players and make meaningful moves, Warriors are forced yet again to sit on their hands during free agency. Sorry beds been made, that's just how it is.

How will a team ever build around SGA, Jokic, Luka, Giannis when they're all making the supermax and leaving nothing on the table. There's only 1 player that has ever won while playing on a supermax and it's none of those 4.

I'm laughing but that's probably the truth.
