according to Khoee's *legit* source....

Could this work? Baron opts out..We sign Gilbert....Then we sign and trade Baron to the clippers for Brand? Makes everybody happy.

You mean another guard who's gonna ignore Beans in the middle? Perfect for Nellie!

I always really liked Gilbert..He's a good guy..A fun guy...He's young and if his light bulb ever turns on..GA could be one of the greats...

Arenas-Ellis-Jackson-Brand-Biedrins with our head coach Gary Payton.

Hmmmmmmm.

Wonder when Khoee started talking to people with at least the beginnings of half a clue (Book this).

Arenas and Baron are linked a little bit. Not sure quite the way he woulld like to think (and Brand remains a longshot) but enough to worry about one infringing on the other's free agency wishlist. Warriors big in the running for "both" (read: Arenas) if they both opt out. Baron's big expiring contract is out the door the minute he exercises his option if he doesn't come to the table sans BS expectations.

Ellis and Arenas is a nice plan, don't you agree? Who needs defense?!

Lots of math to be done there.

If Arenas does sign with us, I just hope for the Brand trade. I love a blocking/rebounding tandem.

With Brand here, I am more certain there will be more inside play than all these chucking I am seeing this season.

But I wonder how the Monta/AB signing would affect it. Would we keep one and trade the other for salary purposes?

I can only hope for these transaction in my dream. But I doubt it would happen.

No, no, no, and no...everybody is happy

id love Arenas on the squad but hes going where MAX money comes from and its not from Cohens checkbook.

You'd have to renounce Baron, assuming he opts out, to sign Arenas. Therefore, you wouldn't be able to sign and trade him afterwards.

Non-issue.

Arenas is a funny guy... but does he make us better? Is he a significant upgrade over Baron?

IMO same results from a different style... Baron is better for a gritty, angry 2 points... Arenas' eyes roll into the back of his head and everything he shoots goes in sometimes... each is extremely prone to an incredible clunker...

When it comes down to it, I think I'd prefer Baron, only because he actually gets the PF/Cs involved... if we had a different coach I'd be all for Arenas...

I wouldn't sign Gilbert, but I'll still be excited if he were to come. I still think we should develop Tay at the 1 and have him take over when Baron leaves.

Like I said, the Brand talk is a long long long shot for the Warriors and dependent more upon what can be done with players like Harrington and Jackson than with Baron.

It is in Baron's interest to work out maximum payoff this offseason, obviously, and part of that includes playing nice with the Warriors regardless of which uniform he wears next year. But the timing may not work out if he continues to hold a hardline while Arenas is ready to talk seriously. Arenas could be max-- but I doubt max money will be as free as the casual observer believes it to be based upon previous seasons-- but he is not necessarily on record as willing to handcuff whichever team he goes to (or returns to) if and when he opts out.

The Clippers are in on Arenas hard if they have the cash, too, so this is indeed a storyline worth watching.

As far as money is concerned, it all depends if we can "convince" Arenas if we're going to be a contender (heh), as he mentioned he'll take less to goto a possible championship.

it's either Arenas or Baron, can't have both... unless we give away Monta (oh please don't think about that Cohen please no)

and right now i'd take baron over arenas simply because he already knows this team. Arenas running a new team would probably start off sloppy just from trying to learn how the other starters play

I think its a non-issue and Washington will eventually throw the max at him.

I agree with you that the most likely scenario returns Arenas to Washington. Washington could have a lot of money and, if anyone is in line to have Arenas and Brand, it's them.

please believe it is a money issue.

if Memphis is the only team to offer him a MAX deal, he'll go there.

I would kill for Gilbert

But it's not happening :(

Arenas is a true contrarian. I'm sure he wants the max, but he is one of the few players in the game who I could see taking a lesser offer for some crazy reason.

LOVE to have Arenas as our shooting guard....playing Baron and him together would be insane (in a good way)! You can't deny he's a better shooting guard than Monta can you? Almost as quick....MUCH better range...

Anyway....it's a huge long shot...but it would be fun to have him on the team. And if Baron does go somewhere else...Gilbert would be just about the best option available.
