Remember when the old coach said it's time to play Brandan?

Post#1 » by Sid the Squid » Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:41 am

What happened?

It's not like we cant afford to play him...Our bench is beyond horrible..We're playing D league small ball when the starters are not in...Yet Brandan is frozen out...Just a couple weeks ago the plan was to start giving him PT...This organization is sooooo f'd up...It's a sad sad warriors era.

There's no conspiracy. Brandan's body language during the game and inability to show his stuff in practice is the reason. He hasn't earned any playing time, despite the fact that we traded a fan favorite for the opportunity to select him with our new pick.

LF, how many NBA games have you won? Nellie's won 1000. How dare you question him? :curse:

Reading the Subject heading, I naturally thought you were referring to yourself as the "old drunk".

The problem has to be that he really isn't ready, but its definitely peculiar that he's not playing whatsoever.

His contract sure was...

What Cohan and Co. have done is street magic...

They traded one of the fan favorites for cash and a lottery pick that never plays. Yet somehow there was no backlash - because they made the playoffs and because we're a moderate team in a tough conference now...

What other team can get away with trading someone who's as beloved by the fans as JRich is, and not get any better and not be blamed for it?

While everyone's looking at one thing, Cohan and Co. have given us the slip...

It's all just too strange...Patrick has a big finish in helping us beat the clippers and that's the end of the road for him...MBENGA signed...

Brandan gets a start as Nelson begins the process of bringing BW along as an NBA player....Bam!! ..End of the road for Be Right..

The warriors have had an incredibly lucky year so far on the injury front..Because of that, we have a chance at the 8th seed...Next year maybe we can get lucky again and grab another 8th seed..Does 3 straight seasons as an 8th seed qualify as a NBA dynasty?

15 players are too many to play them all regularly. Nellie's biases are obvious with the 10 vets getting too many minutes and POB, Perovic, NBelli, Wright, and the injured THud getting none and next to none.

I'd guess Pietrus is being showcased for highest returns and leaves soon... Wright & Az should then get get more minutes. If POB leaves in the same deal Al & Perovic benefit.

Of course who comes back for MP will impact the roster and there is no guarantee that Wright won't be included.

**** PATRICK! Get over it.

Nellie asked the bench to step up over the last week or so, and has given them more time to prove themselves. Haven't they been pretty good? I've thought so.

The only reason for the Warriors to force minutes to Brandan Wright and Marco Belinelli at this point in the season is if the Warriors had already fallen out of the playoff hunt.

No mention made of the fact that we were outrebounded by 20? We were outrebounded by 15 against the T-Wolves yet managed to win that one.

Let's keep it to 15 or less ok guys? You know you're in trouble when Matt Barnes (our starting 4 today) is our leading rebounder and plays 35 minutes today (15 more than Biedrins and 6 more than Harrington). With Beans 5 fouls it would have been a perfect opportunity to play Wright or even (oh no! Heaven forbid!) O'Bryant.

Dude . . . on this board, in this little corner of Warrior nation, you are probably the person most responsible for no backlash. The posters on this board bought in to your arguements that Jrich needed to go, You personally peddled the trade to this board. You sold this cross section of fans on it. Now you're mad at them for not backlashing?

Take a break man. You've been working hard here. You've done all you can and you deserve some time off.

We can usually survive being outrebounded by about 12. We can cover 8-10 with turnover differential and the rest with 3 point buckets. Once it gets outside of 15, we're probably don't have enough dry powder to overcome it.

Also, when we do get outrebounded by 15+ it also coincides with at least one of the core playing like :censored: They all rebound better when their energy is up. If we're getting overly crushed on the glass, somone is having a bad night all around.

No... more saying that the incompetence of the FO has affected more than just one type of fan... I can't really see how anyone could be happy with the job they have done when the facts are layed out..

play brandan wright? har har har...its not like hes goin to help the team in any way, shape or form right now. Sure he'll get a tip dunk once in a while and grab a few hustle rebounds and move the floor well in a few minutes of play, but thats because the other team wont pay attention to him because he stinks! He just isnt ready.

now sure of course you would say well to get him ready he needs to play more in the games. but the fact is that he'll hurt the team more than anything. he needs to show in practice that he can handle al harrington and beat harrington out for playing time.

Yes, he couldnt offer anything better than Croshere's 3s, Mbenga's defense, Barnes ability to commit flagrants and countless "team TOs"... he's not ready to contribute on those players' levels yet... first Nelson has to beat all confidence out of him, get him to completely forget about our help defense scheme, and to be a nearly invisible part of the team despite only being (now) an offensive weapon. Then he'd be ready to play off the bench.

BTW he has to beat Al Harrington for playing time? He has to steal Al Harrington's PT? I really should clear my entire ignore list to get a few cheap laughs :D

Nah.....more like typically f'd up....even a bit less than usual. The freeze out the rooks/bigs is an old Nellie habit. It's always been counterproductive in the long haul and just looks worse when the talent wasted is high picks....but guys who got released or were not drafted get minutes.

Practice is just practice. Players need GAME experiance...not practice..not Garbage Time...not D League, because you got to learn to play with the good players and with NBA refs...and with 20,000 sceamin' drunks around the court and with the consequences that it all matters. A SMART team invests enough time in the talent to get them that experiance....will risk 2 losses in December to gain 3 wins in March. :vent:

That's just how it has always worked.

Besides....it's not about Be Right outplaying Harrington in practice,it's about him contributing as he learns the real NBA game. If we do not have Wright-Belli-POB-Kosta as anything more than stagefright kids with no real NBA time come the playoffs....we do not get out of rd 1.....book it.
