Props  to Billy Packer for becoming the 2nd bball junkie to state that OJ Mayo IS NOT a great player and NEVER WILL BE a great player..

Please ..If there truly are basketball Gods up there, never put Mayo in my Warriors sandwich...

OJ Mayo = a modern day Felipe Lopez.

 watched the UCLA game huh?

Davon Jefferson opened my eyes... also dont care what he did in the game, but LRMABM, UCLA's tweener F, is going to be a smart player... no idea where he goes in 08 or 09 draft but I'd take him too.. his learning curve has been crazy as far as positioning and defense goes since his frosh season (last time I saw him)

I would rather have Derrick Rose than OJ Mayo. Damn, it seems like i've been hearing OJ Mayo's name for 4-5 years already. That's how hyped up he is.

He'd better stay in college a few more years. To say his stock has plummeted is an understatement. Man, the league's age rule change really hurt Mayo. Because he would have been selected highly based purely on hype if he didn't have to go to college.

I think its pretty obvious and has been since last year that oj mayo is nothing special. He isnt overly athletic, doesnt have great moves, isnt a great shooter. He was above average as a sophomore and thats where the hype came from...or was it earlier than that ? I think its mainly because he reached his growth peak really early so he was able to dominate early.

Its not the kids fault he got hyped up by the media so much and most likely isnt goin to live up to it, but he IS cocky and thinks he can take usc over the top.

you guys are hella dumb. the reason why he's not putting up better numbers is that opposing teams have made him the focus of their game plan by double teaming him

so true, he's hyped way tooooo long...
remember an article in slam magazine some years back about oj mayo, derrick character and another 7-footer or so... think they were 7th grade or so back then... anyone remember that article as well and knows who that 7footer was?

Yeah, doesn't really seem to have a high IQ. He's real inefficient and takes horrible shots. He's real talented, much more than Lopez, and will definitely be the better player but he's far too hyped, though his stock has fallen as of late.

I like Gordon from Indiana..He's got a big strong Baron Davis-Mitch Richmond type frame..Really good court vision and a sweet long-distance shot...Weak handles though...He's going be a excellent NBA 2 gaurd..A sure thing...But still he's just a 2 gaurd..I don't know how high I'd draft him...From what Ive seen, the rest of the 08 field is looking bad...Beasley will be the #1 pick..Right now I'd take Gordon 2.

The thing that stands out is how much better USC looks when Hackett (or to a degree someone else) runs the team and Mayo is just one of the scoring options as opposed to when USC becomes the OJ Mayo show dominating the ball.

Mayo has NBA talent as a SG, but not the star level people thought he had. The question is whether his ego can handle being a secondary option at any level.

30+ points and something near 9 asst,8 rbd per is a bit more than above avg if yiu are a Siph. Winning State titles 3 straight years-on 2 teams in 2 states ain't bad either.

N College Hill in Cincinnati was a Div 2 team with no Sports rep,My old HS won the state's Div 1 title in OJ's jr year..and a team from our league beat N College Hill. So far....Mayo is a freshman on a team with some good upperclassmen. Perhaps more significant is that Mayo is best as an all round player and a PG..rather than a shooter or SG. Rose? He's good but not nessescerily better than Mayo or Lawson or the kid at Texas. Beasley is the clear star this year. While Mayo has yet to match some sky high expectations,he's had pretty good impact so far and the season is just now getting serious.

weak handles and hes going to be an excellent 2 guard...i think you need to think about that statement again.

excellent players dont have any big flaws...weak handles is a huge NBA flaw.

I dont have to rethink it..I'm so hot with my player projections :onfire: ......From Yi to Durannt to Al Thornton to Belinelli...I'm really quite incredible.

wait...whats your take on Durant? i really would like to know. ive heard some contradicting views from you.

oh, you better call Nellie on his cell and demand Wright get some minutes, since you work in the scout office for the Warriors right? cause everyone knows Wright is ready to contribute heavily this season.

so you can have a major flaw and be excellent, not good, but excellent...amazing.

man, have i been watching the wrong game. Kobe, LeBron, and KG just must be lucky that they are excellent players and coincidently they dont have any major flaws.

Excellent has a concrete definition now? I could say Al Harrington is an excellent PF and be right...

People won't agree but what I've seen from Thabeet lately makes him a lotto pick in my mind... whats been amazing is his learning curve. This time last year, he just a tall guy... he's positioning himself now, gets good position on both sides and because of his size it leads to easy buckets... I'd take him over Hibbert and DeAndre...
