Was it Nelson trickery?
The Pietrus/Barnes deal tonight was fishy at best.
If it was a slight oversight that luckily didn't hurt us, then fine. But I tend to lean towards something bigger. I always do because it's more interesting that way.
Let's just look at things though.
No Barnes, no Pietrus. Baron and company have no choice on the final game of their back to back road game against the Bucks. They know they're gonna be 2 men down in this one.
Perfect excuse for Nellie to have no choice but to use, one or some of the bench guys. Insert Patrick and Perovic. Perfect game for them to come in and show some of what they could do against another young big in Bogut.
Just as Bogut was feeling good and looking towards a career night, here comes two lengthy 7 footers to challenge his every move. Obee got the Whistles and Kosta got the rebounds and good fortune.
Was this a showcase for something bigger?
Was this for an interested team wanting to see some real game experience before pulling the trigger on a deal?
It was the perfect way for Nellie to justify to his veterans and also let another team see what these guys are capable of.
Now here's the problem. Warriors fans get to see what a 3 headed center looks like and it looks damn good. Beans gets to rest. We always have some length down low, and we can match up against size.
Whether we meant to or not, the Warriors stumbled into something that could be a huge help by the end of the year. Constantly having a big 7 footer on the floor is exactly what a weak rebounding team needs.
Small ball is our bread and butter, but 7 foot bigs clog the middle and change shots. They block out and rebound. They guard other bigs.
We needed this and it may be that it was just a means to make a deal. But if we don't then I like what happened tonight.

maybe it was.
but this way he doesn't have his main veterans looking at him and saying coach, we're busting our ass out here and you're putting these guys in.
With the schedule we have coming up, it's the most opportune time of the season to get a deal done.
Bringing in a new guy takes time to fit in and get accostomed to the new team. With the games we have coming up it will be a slightly easier transition.
The Barnes thing doesn't happen often, and we are rumored to be having something in the works.
Obee and Kosta play for the first time in many moons.
It all just fits so nicely doesn't it?

Pietrus was apparently feeling ill according to Fitz on the broadcast, which is why he was intended to be inactive.
My guess is that the Warriors, like our board, have also associated Barnes and Pietrus as one person (Barntrus) and had incidentally mixed them up (perfectly explains why Pietrus was on both lists and Barnes was on inactive...)

Nellie doesn't need a reason to do anything. He's screwing with us like always.
Maybe it was even a trade with Milwaukee, how convenient would that be? But after tonight I would not want CV, even for MP.
It could've been to showcase them for a trade, or maybe Nelson actually realized we needed the bench and he could take a chance against a team like Milwaukee. Or both.

too much porn.
Said Nelson: "Actually, Keith Smart left him off because he was watching the adult movie channel when he should have been concentrating on drawing up the roster. So we're going to take that privilege away from him for the rest of the year -- no more adult movies for Keith Smart."

Keith Smarts wife must be so proud right now.
Nellie has a call to make to smooth over Keith's marital status. Even though it's a joke, wives don't like that kind of humor.
It's nice to see that our so-called future coach has his priorities in order.
nellie kills me.
