Crazy No Time TO Trade Beans

Post#1 » by killacalijatt » Sat Jan 26, 2008 5:57 pm

ITs Time, its clear Nelly doesnt want to play Beans alot.
Time to get that athletic PF with great blocking abilty and excellent rebounding. The other 1 man fast break.
Josh Smith

Nelly wants to go small, Smoove is the perfect player to do that with.
Great Weakside defender and 1on1 defender also. I just dont see Beans being better then he already is. Is he even really that good we consistantly get out rebounded we consistently allow alot of points in the paint. People like Kaman Gasol Boon Maxiell Crag Smith BOOZER always tourch us. How is Beans not averaging more then 10 rebounds when hes are best rebounder?
Time to trade the Beans. We would have so many mismatches on offence with Smoove.
We live off of quick hands and steals. Smoove is the perfect player to do that with hes basically Artest with more athletisicm.

This would make Al our starting Center.

If Atlanta would do a JS for AB deal (we probably include a #1), we'd have to do it. Smith protects the rim much better than Biedrins, would arguably rebound as well as AB here, and I've seen him man up some big guys pretty well in the few-to-several ATL games I've seen this year. AB is our only quality "big", but Smith is a game changer and a legit up-and-coming star.

A Harrington/Smith frontcourt might just be crazy enough to work, but we'd need a guy like Elson or Kurt Thomas to backup at C (unless POB can/will be that guy).

Atlanta might be interested b/c they can run a more traditional lineup with AB, Horford, Marvin at the 5/4/3. It would also probably allow them to more realistically resign Childress (as well as Biedrins).

You are on crack . . . that's almsot as bad as Parrish and McHale for Joe Barry Carrol.

And Josh doesn't "protect the rim" he roams the floor racking up blocks on SG's and SF's in help D and chasing guys from behind. He gives up interior position all the time and allows easy buckets in the paint. Beans is a much better post defender than Josh.

As much as I like Josh Smith, this would not be a good idea. We're already a mediocre defensive team. Trading away our best interior defender is just NOT intelligent.

Instead of splurging on another SF/PF tweener, we should just develop Brandan Wright.

You don't trade Biedrins until after he's signed, otherwise you don't get equal value.

Beans is fine, he just needs to play alongside someone better. Or we need a rebounding defensive 3. Beans can't do it all alone, he needs help. If Al harrington was a stud rebounder and a shot blocker, then Beans numbers would be even better.

I'm OK with Beans minutes this year. It helps to keep his price down a little. He's gone from a 10 mil per guy to around 8 or 9 mil per. That's fine with me because he'll only get better and better.

The kid doesn't even have a jump shot yet, he's only scratching his potential.

I watch Atlanta play a lot...That team is interesting...I'm not down on Josh like most on this board are..That kid is a rare talent who would fit in perfectly playing for Don Nelson...

The hawks have unbelievable young forward talent...They have the worst PG situation in the league....If you stick a Baron Davis with that roster? Wow what a team to watch...

Do it now and Baron makes the All Star game in his sleep.

Comparing a Biedrins/pick for Smith trade to the Parrish, McHale deal? That's a pretty weak comparison. I know it's sacrilege to suggest trading AB for anyone short of Dwight Howard, but you're going pretty overboard here.

I have witnessed Smith "protect the rim" many times, often sending away or changing a series of shot attempts. No, he doesn't camp out in the paint, but leaving his guy on the perimeter to help at the rim is hardly "roaming" to boost his stats or whatever you're accusing him of.

And what's so wrong with racking up blocks on SGs and SFs? It would be nice if Biedrins could stop the layup line more than occasionally.

Our interior defense is atrocious, and Biedrins's post defense is nothing to write home about. His quickness allows him to get over to help, but he lacks the leaping ability to be a great shotblocker.

I don't mean to knock Biedrins to build up the guy I'd prefer, but I think he's greatly overrated by many. I'm sure he would look/perform much better next to another real big, but I still don't think he warrants 2nd or 3rd best player money.

Josh Smith is a bit of a knucklehead, but I'm pretty confident his ceiling is much higher than AB's. It's one thing if you don't like the idea of a gimmicky lineup with no real C, but to accuse me of being on crack for preferring Smith to Biedrins is pretty ludicrous. See what they say on the trade or player comparison board.

NO.

Is Biedrins that good if we constantly get outrebounded? He's the only guy we leave in the paint on D! C'mon...Nellie won't even give him 30mpg, and we give him NO help at all. All those other guys you mention have other big men to help at least.

Josh would fit with us nicely, but Beans is our staple in the middle. He's our only big (so far) who can try to hang with many of the bruisers in the league. JS can't do that, which is what we need.

Its not a matter of preferring one player over another, its about considering how it will affect the team. Not questioning Josh's ability or athleticism, but to give up the only 'real C' Nellie will play is stupid in the big picture. Josh will get trampled by the likes of Duncan/Boozer/etc, because you know Nellie would play him at PF/C.

We have enough offense as is, how about concentrating on a big man (not a SF who will try to compensate with athleticism as a PF/C) on defense?

Biedrins and Smove? Now that get's me excited but Smoove without Biedrins, mo thanks. I'd rather stay with Biedrins without Smoove. Smoove (and I'm not dissing his potential) will need to have a solid Center for his team to go anywhere. He's no Lebron or Wade.

Even with some pretty good bigs and surrounding talent, look at where Atlanta's currently at. I'd love to have Smoove and Beans playing together.

People keep saying this, but Smith doesn't play SF for the Hawks--he plays PF/C, and he does it pretty well.

Exactly right Ryder.

But he should be a SF and he would dominate.

The fact that he's playing pF is fine and he's OK, but he'd be a world beater at SF.

Except for the part about winning only 17 games.

I'm glad your 1st post was here, and not on Atlanta's board :D

Smith's value, to ATL fans, is higher than anyone we have, plain and simple. He'd be a great fit for Nellieball, but that's counterproductive to what our future really should be...

Why pay extra just because the guy is young... do we expect Nellie around for 2 more years, really? Is Keith Smart really going to do the same thing Nellie is (God I hope not.)? May as well just find a late 20s early 30s vet to come in and do the same, and do it cheaper.

no way no way no way. I think the reason nellie isnt playing beans alot is so the warriors can low ball offer him this season. Theyre trying to trick him that the warriors dont need him as much and theyre goin to point to his numbers and offer beans like $30 million.
