Trade in the works?

Post#1 » by Twinkie defense » Tue Jan 29, 2008 10:50 pm

Just a thought...

Mark Stein on KNBR says Jason Kidd wants to go to Dallas, and it will likely take a three or four team trade to get him there. Reports also indicate that the Nets are more and more willing to blow things up.

Warriors have the ability to facilitate deals with their $10 mil TPE.

Keith Smart ran the Warriors' practice yesterday while Don Nelson was tied up in Dallas.

And of course, while there's some obvious bad blood between Nellie and Cuban, Donn Nelson is still running the front office in Dallas, and Nellie has made a habit lately of overcoming bad blood, with Cohan and now Webber.

I'd rather NOT facilitate a trade of Kidd to Dallas. What exactly could we get out of it anyways?

I don't know what we get (probably nothing) but maybe Cuban drops his lawsuit against Nellie. Warriors 10M TPE for Cohan to drop lawsuit, a fair trade?

They really don't have much to trade, except Pietrus. I wouldn't trade any of the young guys.

Who would we take with the TPE? Terry? Stackhouse? Not really interested in anyone they have to offer (unless Howard is coming to GS :droop:)

Here's another angle: If a Dallas/NJ/Portland swap is likely, bringing Devin Harris to Portland (while they keep Roy, Aldridge, and Oden)... doesn't that hurt the Warriors even more than Dallas getting Kidd?

Dallas right now is a bigger threat to the Warriors, but - especially if they look to Kidd to win now - Portland is the real team the Warriors have to worry about over the next few years.

Not gonna happen....wouldn't be prudent at this juncture (Dana Carvey - doing the original Bush)

I would be surprised if the Warriors assisted the Mavs in obtaining Kidd.

Nellie and his son own a bar here in Dallas.

This is a great time for the Warriors to make a trade. After the Friday's game, the Warriors have 6 days until they play again...a huge layoff for this time of the season. They also have a string of home games too, that make extra practices etc easier to facilitate.
