The west could conceivably have ELEVEN teams with 40 or more wins this season.

I wonder if that has ever happened in the history of the NBA -3 non-playoff teams with 40 or more wins.

I'm still quite convinced that it's going to take 50 wins to assure a playoff spot, and that 47-48 might not be enough for even the 8th spot.

yeah, when they beat the hornets last night that got me really worried. if we could come back from being 9 under .500 and make it to the playoff last year anything could happen. the kings should not be taken lightly that's for sure.

i don't know if a conference has ever been THIS freaking good. but according to david stearn the east is not inferior - look at boston and orlando!

I know, i was thinking the same thing. And we play them next week...... no off nights in the west. Think Theus voted for Baron, hopefully Baron thinks he didn't.

they basically will need to finish the season with 15 more wins than losses..

the good news is that this false sense of hope - that they might make the postseason - will most likely keep them from trading Artest to a team like Denver.

could hurt the Warriors if there was any kind of chance that we might go for him, but I doubt Cohan would be willing to use the TE to get someone worthwhile.

They're 6 games back of the 8 seed, and need to pass Houston, Portland, and Denver/GSW to make it into the playoffs.

Kings will not be a problem, but winning 46+ will be a ticket to join the playoff race.

I think 46 wins is a little low to guarantee a spot.

My initial post was not so much that the Queens were gonna make the playoffs, as to how insane the West will be with 7 50 win playoff teams, a 49 win playoff team with the 8th seed, and then teams 9, 10, and 11 with 47, 44, and 41 wins respectively.

11 teams with .500 or better records in a 15-team conference.

That would be nuts.

In the West you are going to need at least 48 wins IMO just to have a shot at the 7/8 spot. San Antonio, New Orleans, Phoenix, LA and Dallas are pretty much locks for the postseason barring any serious injury. The Final 3 spots will be fought for by the Warriors, Rockets, Blazers, Jazz, Nuggets.

Being a Warriors fan living in Sacramento, I'm subject to (of course) lots of Kings radio and their games on local TV. Once over my initial nausea, I noticed from training camp that they are a different team under Reggie Theus. They hustle for him, they play, D, and most of this season, they've been without their star (K. Martin) or point guard (Bibby). Spencer Hawes has been serviceable (funny he's getting some burn while our #9 from a couple years ago rots, even though he's way better). Brad Miller's having an unconcious season.

That being sad, I don't think they make the playoffs, but they are better than their record. It adds even more mystery to this crazy playoff race.

me neither. I haven't checked the schedules, so maybe it can't happen.

The West is tough....and it really doesn't matter how well the Kings start playing because teams ahead of them aren't going to suddenly fall of the map.

Houston and Denver seem like the only vulnerable teams to me....and of course the Warriors could start losing more if they lose Baron to injury for example....

I think the Warriors have a nice run in them....and Webber will give them some initial momentum and land them in the 6th spot....

It will be interesting to see if the Kings actually still move Bibby and Artest while they are winning.....They should.....cause those two don't fit and Miller is have sort of a last push year...
