Does Baron have positive or negative trade value?

Before you Kool-aid drinking homers jump down my throat..Let's go through the list of teams...
'
Tough to trade for Baron if you're not a Cali team...So I'm going to guess nobody east of the Mississippi would have interest.

Dallas might be interested since Baron destroyed them last season..but what would they offer..Harris or Terry and fillers? Naaaaa
..No thanks

Denver's a no go.

Phoenix is a no go..

Sacramento would only do it if we took back Bibby..That's negative value.

Lakers...I dont think the PJ would want Baron...Bad fit there...but if I'm wrong and they do have interest..Odom would be a nice pickup for GS

Seattle? Really they have nothing to offer us...

Clippers?...Maybe if Brand wants out this summer we could trade Baron there for EB....I dont know..I don't see it

Portland? No interest there...

Utah? lol

I think we have no options..Not so bad if Nellie can continue to keep Bad Baron semi-contained.

Baron's a great player at times...but how long will he stay happy here? Up until his free agency? Should we extend him at a price that keeps him happy for a little while longer? When is this Monta's team and Baron goes away?

Atlanta is probably the one team where Baron's trade value might begin to approach his on-court value for us.

Because of his contract status and the ugly negotiation pending, he's probably a bad fit for any team that is looking to keep him long term. I'm sure there are teams interested in his services, but all would probably want to wait out the FA process and get him at the final (discounted) value he is forced to settle for rather than giving up assets for him in trade and overpaying.

He's not a good trade chip. This has nothing to do with the game last night, but he's still several differnt kinds of risks, and he will want more money than he's actually going to get.

For us, keeping him 3 more years on a less than max deal would probably be maxing out the asset value. We're not going to get in trade what we can get from him on the court. It's just not possible.

There are plenty of suckers in the NBA. If Bad Baron returns, we could trade him anywhere we want. He doesn't have a no trade clause. We would need to fill the void at the 2 which isn't as easy as we thought it would be. Nice Story couldn't cut it for more than half a season.

I think we're fast approaching the day where Baron's presence here will be stunting Monta's growth...I saw it last night for the 1st time....Baron is not effective playing off the ball...Monta has to get out of the way for Baron..The team is starting to suffer..I think it's in our best interests to make the swich soon..I could see the warriors running the offense through Webber and Ellis next year instead of Baron and Jack...I think our fg%'s , assists and effectiveness would go up..I think it would benifit Biedrins and hoperfully Brandan...It's time to hand the keys over to the kid and the old man.

I don't fully agreed. Baron simply mailed it in last night, especially in the first quarter. When he was motivated he could move without the ball relatively well, but of course he's at his best when he handles the ball. Duh!

I think this is like a catch-22 for Monta. Yea we want to develop him into a full-time PG, but probably turning the reign over this season is still too soon. If we feed Monta the entire game then more then likely he turns into Allen Iverson, and we all know what a great scorer AI is, but he doesn't help his teammates at all.

We finally agree for once.

I can only see Baron going to teams that are contenders. Who else would take his bloated contract for a year? Makes no sense because it's not a long term fix.

I think he's going to stick it to the Warriors this Summer and hopefully Mullin doesn't play with him. Would be better to let him go sooner than later.

Careful LF, you are going to offend a lot of man-crushes on this board. People easily overlook the last 5 seasons of Baron coming in overweight, and wonder why he looks balky most of the game now. Carrying extra weight wears on your body. Baron can't run the Monta offense because he isn't spry enough, endurance, quickness, or effort wise.

As for trade value?

Baron is playing the best year of basketball of his life. Stats wise, he is a top 10 player in the league. His team is winning, he has leadership skills, and he draws a crowd every night.

Luckily, many GM's are as short-sighted and forget the past as easily as many fans, so we could easily find a trade partner for BD. Examples of potential assets: Kobe wanted out earlier this year, I would have traded Baron and 2 first rounders (and I am not a Kobe fan, though is a cold blooded killer). He is obviously not available now. Jermaine O'Neal wants out, though I am reluctant because he is made of glass. Kidd wants out, the Nugs would move Iverson, Carter can be had, Kirlenko can be had. All are just examples of tradeable assets, though most don't fit.

A prerequisite characteristic of franchise players is that they turn malcontents quickly, so every year you can be had, if you are willing to roll the dice.

Best case scenario: Boom kills it for the rest of the season, including playoffs. He postures all summer, but Mully stands pat. Baron takes his measly $17.5 mil next year but doesn't sign an extension. We can go into one year of lux tax. Mully can move Baron if he gets a good combo of young talent and expirings to match BD, or he lets Baron play awesome ball again next year and lets him reap the rewards in free agency.

We get two contract years/great production years from Baron. Keep Tay, Beans, BReal, and Stallone can do a couple more movies before he is needed for anything strenuous.

I say that we trade Baron and everyone else except for Monta, Brandan, and Andris. In their place we will add perfect players on minuscule contracts.

It's the perfect plan. So simple and yet so genius.

I'll bet you 200 realgm bucks, if Nellie's back for 08-09, Webber's back too.

CWeb played some good ball in that 3rd Q...Kind of got overlooked because we tanked soon after he left the game.

I'd guees there's about a 90% chance Nellie returns...He's already talking about how little he intends to play Brandan next year...

Webber's a great fit here with Biedrins and Ellis..We just have to get rid of Davis.

It's going to take the MLE to keep him. He's earned it.
