We have two of the most efficient players in the League

Post#1 » by turk3d » Sun Feb 10, 2008 7:24 am

We have two of the most efficient players in the league at their respective positions, Monta Ellis and Andris Biedrins also at perhaps the two most important positions: Center and now point guard (as Monta continues to assume more and more of the point guard duties).

We all know of Biedrins proficiency (more than 60% now over 2 seasons) but Monta (who's now been significantly over 50% for a while now) has shot an incredible 30-37 his last 3 games (7-10, 11-12 and tonight 12-15) which is an incredible 81%. This is even more astounding than Biedrins considering how he's scoring them. Who says you can't score over 30 a game without shooting any 3 balls?

Maybe all our 3 point chuckers ought to consider this, you can score more points and shoot twice as good (81% to maybe 40% if you're good at 3's). Twice as many shots in at 2 points each is 25% more points than if you hit half as many 3s and this doesn't even count the extra points free throwing you'll get by getting fouled more shooting 2s. Maybe Nellie oughta do the math too.

let's hope monta keeps doing this, he's puts the true meaning of "shooting" in shooting guard.
let him stay there

Monta's a PG... I cannot believe how many people do not see this yet. 2 months ago he was a PG with limited opportunities... it takes a while for a stubborn old man to relent..

Just be damn thankful Monta's a G... Biedrins is the equivalent of a PF/C Tay and is getting jobbed. The only shining light is that there's no way Mullie lets his best picks, ever, get away...

Not at the expense of the rest of this roster :lol:

The future is here... its just a damn shame we haven't been getting Wright ready too... gotta love those Barntrus supporters :nod:

Quick stat:

G/F, highest FG%

Josh Childress (58.1%, 8 FGA)
Ronnie Brewer (54.4%, 8.2 FGA)
Jose Calderon (52.9%, 9.2 FGA)
Monta Ellis (52.8%, 13.4 FGA)

Only Calderon even comes close to what Tay has done... shooting 53% with that many FGA would be great for a PF/C, much less a midrange shooter...

Scarier still, the kid has not even reached his potential offensively at all... imagine this kid with a 3 pt shot... imagine him being the primary ballhandler...

Tay has superstar potential... no one (NO ONE) on this roster has that besides him.
