1140's making me feel bad for math teachers all over the world.-bob- wrote:even if the 1st year salary is $9 Mil vs $7.5Mil, thats $1.5 Mil!! it doesn't make a difference. we're still way below the luxury tax with 10 guys under contract. still plenty of room to sign Barnes and a couple vet min guys.

Wait, correct me if im wrong, 1) dont you have to sign your own players first before goign to other teams free agents?
and
2) if the 58 million dollar number is correct before signing ellis how are you WAY UNDER THE CAP? Once you go over the cap which was what 53 million this year? You cant go sign other free agents on other teams?
If I'm wrong please correct me?

We already tried that...You didnt grasp the concept of CBA provisions made for teams over the cap.Sports_1140 wrote:Wait, correct me if im wrong, 1) dont you have to sign your own players first before goign to other teams free agents?

Sarunas and Zarko have been key members to our team this year..I think you're right after all, we're going to have to sacrifice Monta in order to keep Jasikevicous.Sports_1140 wrote:Edit they have the warriors down for 62 million heres the direct link.

They also list JRich at 12m for next year. I don't think he works here anymore...

Huh your LOOKING AT THE WRONG YEAR. Look at 08/09 those players arent on there. So your DEFINTELY BEING A SMART ASS but the funny thing is your not lookign at the wrong year.
Ok so if foyle is 6 million thats 3 million coming off, and also obryants close to 2 million off.
So that brings your guys cap to 57 million before signing ellis, right?

I understand the cap and lux tax.
The cap just stops you from signing other teams free agents.
The lux tax makes you pay dollar per dollar after going over the luxury tax. I think this year its like 66 million?
I dont know why you guys make it sound like I dont know what I'm talking about.you guys are nearly at 50 million dollars, even with richardson off the books. That leaves you probably what 5 million to sign free agents?
And then about 10 million to sign your own free agents b4 going over the cap.
LIke I said It would be nice for people to actually POINT OUT factually if I'm wrong and where. Instead of making smart comments or just saying oh your stupid we can do it.

1) If a team is over the salary cap after summing up all players salary, exceptions, and cap holds, they get the MLE, LLE, and as many minimum salaried players as they want. This is the situation that 90% of the league is in.
2) Kelenna will opt out because he's got a player option for the minimum next year, and he'll command more than that (and LF will owe me a cyber-buck ). The Dubs total team salary will be about $46.3M. They'll have a cap hold on their 1st rounder (assuming they don't trade it), and assuming that they make the playoffs, the first year salary for that will probably be about $1.2M. The luxury tax threshold has gone up about 3% per year since the 2005 CBA, and if that continues, the lux tax threshold for 2008-09 should be about $70 million. So they've got about $22.5 million to work with underneath the luxury tax threshold. If both Beans and Ellis get $10 mil per year deals, they'll both be owed a total of $17 million next year, meaning that the Dubs still have about $5.5 million to re-sign Barnes and bring in a bunch of D-League scrubs/minimum salaried vets. Got it?
EDIT: Okay, so bob is waayyyy quicker at this stuff than I am. I fail.

Thanks bob thats a perfect post, I apperciate that. Now my issue where I differ is that ellis will get more then that for sure, martin is getting 9 million his first year so raise that cap up to 66 million... thats probably about a 2 million or close to that before hitting the cap.
Next Your assuming barnes would play for the same or less. I believe he is gone for sure, He wont take a cheaper/ same deal. Thats my oppion though.
That puts you guys at 66 million with about 3 million to sign 2 or 3 more players to fill out your roster.
Where is this wrong?
