Andris out indefinitely(Get well soon, LF!)

Post#1 » by -bob- » Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:46 pm

**** ME! this sucks. :-?

Andris out indefinitely with appendicitis; MP still a Warrior
From Janny Hu in Oakland.

Some bad news from practice today:

As the trade deadline passed at noon, the biggest story for the Warriors wasn't that Mickael Pietrus was still at practice.

It's that Andris Biedrins was not.

The Warriors' starting center is out indefinitely with appendicitis that began flaring up last night. Biedrins is scheduled to have his appendix removed today and will likely out for at least several weeks as he recovers from surgery.

Warriors coach Don Nelson said Biedrins wasn't feeling well during Wednesday's win over the Celtics, though Biedrins still toughed out one of his best games of the season with 21 points and 13 rebounds. He got progressively worse overnight before the Warriors' sent him to the doctor Thursday morning.
"

We had so much flu going on that we didn't know it wasn’t just the flu," Nelson said. "But as he got home, it looked more and more like it could be something serious."

"He had such a tremendous, game, you never expected it, but that's the type of guy he is," Baron Davis added. "You just wish him a speedy recovery."

Biedrins' absence will mark the first time since Stephen Jackson's opening seven-game suspension that the Warriors will have to make do without a key player for an extended period.

It also comes at the Warriors' thinnest position, with the 6-11 Latvian serving as their only true center. Nelson said Chris Webber and Austin Croshere will play more minutes at the 5, while his younger players like Patrick O'Bryant and Brandan Wright could also see more time.

It's all a Nellie conspiracy to keep AB down.

This stinks. Speedy recovery, AB!

The next 4 at home and the ensuing 4 on the road over the next 2 and a half weeks is the last "easy stretch" in the schedule.

It really sucks, but at least it wasn't later in the season and on the bright side he'll be rested for the stretch run. Get well Beans.

The deadline has passed, we still have POB and French Trainwreck. Lucky for us. Now it's time for Nellie to put away his predjudice and play the kid. POB + Perovic will hopefully be able to fill in for AB15. POB and Pietrus now have the opportunity to be key players for the rest of this season. After last game, we now have shown that we can compete we a more conventional lineup. Hopefully that won't be put aside. Sad news. Very sad.

I said that AB had some physical problems going on this season. The way KG was thumping on him last night, it's no wonder he has to go in for surgery today. What a tough kid.

hopefully wright/POB can get some shine now....we really need Andris out there, but at least we could possibly have an opportunity to see them play meaningful minutes for the first time in a long time.

i hope wright gets the opportunity and makes the most of it. so much so, that when AB does come back nellie will have no choice but to play them both together.

all the best for andris though.

The curse is real...

I'll believe Wright/POB playing time when I see it... this just means the same type of game as last nite, but instead of Beans getting 40, Barnes, Buke, and Croshere will split the minutes...

:banghead: Damn the luck... smallball's back :nonono:

Undoubtedly the worst non-trade thing that could have happened to the Warriors...

When the injury bug bites, it bites hard. First Jack and now this.

Nellie poisoned his food.

Kosta will still probably not dress.

I'd say there's a 50% possibility that Obee is released, and Burke signed to a 10 day.

Don't f :censored: with Nellie. The man is positively diabolical.

i think POB sits more and BWright plays more. i'm thinking brandan will be in the same position KeBuike was in when J-Rich broke his hand. he played, he succeeded, we saw what he could do then sat in the playoffs. that's what i'm seeing from wright. i hope i'm not wrong though. i don't want to see more cro webb if it's avoidable.
