I hope not. Bellinelli actually has talent it seems, just not getting playing time because nelson is weird. I would love to see bellinelli get the break he needs and show the league he is the italian stalion!

I wish we could go back in time and see what people were saying about michael redd when he was arookie.
considering the fact he couldnt shoot at all.
not saying marco is redd at all, or ever will be. but damn. jumping the gun on a rookie declaring him a bust is **** hillarious

Can't declare him a bust early... but it doesn't look good.
His style is a gunner, a showman gunner at that. When you have uber-talent like Kobe, it doesn't matter. Beli's not even all that accurate... he's a volume shooter.
Drafting him was a huge mistake, this guy is the biggest project on the team. He needs to rebuild his shooting style and get more comfortable taking set shots, and being able to dribble w/on-ball pressure... until all that happens you kinda have to hope that he turns on the intensity defensively, but he doesnt ever seem too interested in that.
I wouldn't hold my breath on Belinelli doing much here though. Probably ever until he learns to tailor his game to be more efficient and less showman.

i see your points, but i still think hes going to be good. he has other skills besides throwing shots up that can prove useful in the future ball handling, passing mainly.
if he was a 6'5 salim stoudamire/jj reddick, then id agree with you 100%.
but hes not.

Belinelli is not from Wales, he's from Italy.

It's not like we will ever figure out if he's a bust or not. He's not athletic enough nor does he have the experience for Nellie to put him in the game. I think Belli's biggest problem is coming in off the bench. For a shooter like him you have to get into a rhythm.
I think he'd do good in a Pacers type offense.
Too bad the trade deadline is over. We could have sent them more of our garbage.

I was not thrilled with the pick on draft night. My feeling was that Warriors could probably have still got him in the second round with the pick they used on Lasme.
If he really is a bust - and I have am NOT sure that he is - then Warriors can trade him easily before the next draft. There are a number of teams who would give a late first rounder for him.

He aint goin' nowhere. When Nellie claims greatness for someone, he's not going to budge and I expect we'll se a lot more of him next year. It's no different when he declares someone a bust (you won't see them getting any run unless it's an absolute emergency). It wouldn't surprise me if we see him some more this season before it's over.

he may not have lebron kobe athletiscsm but hes athletic enough to play in the nba.
hes more athletic then your average "Spot up shooter"
just based on what ive seen over the past few years, when he gets a bit stronger his game should be similar to Ginobilli... a little less reckless driving to the basket, but with about the same shot selection (bad).

I don't think he'll be as strong as Ginobli and can't imagine him being anywhere near the defender that Ginobli is (not too many who fit that category) but he may be able to shoot as well and perhaps wind up a better ball handler. Even if he does gain some strenth, he's still a few inches shorter than he is.

Until Beli becomes comfortable dribbling with pressure, his role is to just shoot. Didn't take Monta too long, but he was on the court a lot of the time.
Either way, from what I've seen, Beli's game needs a bit too much refinement... I really wish he would have taken the D-League stint and gotten used to ballhandling under pressure in an enviornment where the results don't really matter.

I think he'll be more like Brent Barry (the younger version), which isn't a bad player to be compared to.

other than both of them not being americans there's no part of beli's game that makes me scream jiri. i just don't see it. if he improves over the summer and really gets comfortable in the US and nba then he'll be fine. i think the young brent barry type player is way more accurate than the welsh one.

Maybe more Marco Jaric than Jiri Welsh if it has to be a foreign player comparison.
But I still favor Starks.
(Before I get accused of Hate again, Starks had a lengthy and productive NBA career. He never let the fact that he couldn't shoot stop him.

I'll be happy if he can turn into a Vinnie Del Negro 6th man type guard who can run a little point when needed.
