KG to GS revisited

Richardson told people the night he was informed of the trade that Garnett was being included as part of the deal. Instead, Golden State traded Richardson and the draft rights to Jermareo Davidson to Charlotte in exchange for the draft rights to Brandan Wright. Garnett never made it to Golden State in what would have been a three-team trade with Minnesota and Charlotte.

An ESPN.com report at the time said the Warriors got cold feet and decided to make a straightforward trade with Charlotte. It's questionable whether Garnett would have signed a contract extension with Golden State, which wouldn't have had a great supporting cast following the trade.

The Boston Globe reported that the Warriors' trade offer to Minnesota for Garnett included forward Al Harrington, center Andris Biedrins, guard Monta Ellis and a first-round draft pick. The Globe also reported that the Wolves would have pulled the trigger on the trade if Golden State would have drafted Al Thornton and included him in the trade.

But Golden State drafted Wright and subsequently tried unsuccessfully to trade Wright's draft rights to a team drafting after it in exchange for Thornton, according to the Globe.

In retrospect, Golden State's reported trade offer to the Wolves didn't include a franchise player. The Wolves have one now in forward Al Jefferson, acquired from Boston.

Biedrins, Ellis, Wright, Jrich, Harrington?? Haha. This can't be real.

There've been many conflicting accounts, so just because it's in print does not make it so.

Seems like an awful lot to give up, no wonder Mullin "got cold feet."

Would've been the ultimate win now move.

Baron/Jackson/Garnett... could that be much worse than Boston's Big Three?

"no franchise player... " I'd think Minny might rather have Biedrins, Monta, Wright than what they got. We can compare records in a couple years and see who's better.

The biggest impediment was probably KG's hesitancy to extend his contract.

I wouldn't have done it. I might have done Monta + Wright + J-Rich + Al though. As it turns out, just Monta alone would have been tough to give up now that I've seen what he's becoming.

AB
Garnett
Jack
Baron

That would have been something to reckon with.

It explains the almost nonsensical Bellinelli pick.

With our's and Nellie's luck, KG would have had a season ending injury. This would have been another "mortgage the future" trade just like the original Webber deal, except in this one, we weren't just giving up anonymous picks.

I very glad this deal didn't happen.

I was never willing to trade both Goose and Bullet for anyone.

Hell no. Monta, Wright, and Beans is too much to give up.

I was willing to give up one (Biedrins/Ellis) of them, but not both.

i said yes.

KG makes everyone better, including the dude selling hotdogs. Hes made Rondo overrated. Hes that good of a player.

if he didnt resign next season...oh well. Elton Brand is available. Theres a big free agent pool coming up.

So you'd wanna stick to 13 more years of lottery laden years for 1 year or possibly 3 years of KG?

no we'd have a lot of money to spend on FAs.

No guarantee anyone would come to play here. And I'd rather have AB, Wright and Ellis than any one player out there that would come here in FA. We ain't attracting LeBron, Wade or any young player. Maybe Brand but what we put around him? Baron, Jackson, Harrington would all be gone by that time probably.

$$$ will attract them. Baron (said hed stick around), Jack and Al are on contract for next season. I believe Brand is due for a new contract. FA's like money and we'd have a lot of it.

Losing Al, Beans, Wright, Monta, and JRich (Wright)

We'd be left with

PG Baron
SG Azubuike
SF Jack
PF KG
C POB

That team is not good enough to win the West.

In a couple of years....compare our record to BOTH Minny and the Celtics. We'd have given Al + 3 guys who can each start for 10+ years for KG's twighlight and massive cap impact.

Who plays C? KG? KG does not WANT to be a C. If KG is at C....Harrington + Wright are gone so....Barnes is the PF? Without Monta....it's your choice at SG...Azu or MP. Backup PG....I guess we'd have kept Jasekavicus and if Baron or KG was hurt a few weeks...we think about who to use our lotto pick on.

On the other hand...if we knew Gasol was going dirt cheap.....

KG was gonna either stay a T Wolf or agree to some deal. Nobody could give up a lot of their franchise and just guess MAYBE things work out.

Not only wouldn't I have done that deal, I really can't imagine that Mullin would have, and if he would have, I can't imagine Minnesota would have said no.

If it involved either Monta or Andris, it would be an interesting discussion. Including both of them is just goofy.

I can't fathom how bad this deal is for the W's in retrospect.

Monta has blossomed, showing he can score 25+ ppg on a regular basis while shooting INSANE percentages...60%, even for a month, is spectacular.

Wright has shown a lot of promise, putting up a couple of double digit games already as a "project" 20 year old.

Birdrins is still averaging a double double and 1.5 blocks per game in under 30 min a night.

We'd probably be worse than we are right now with a lineup of Baron, Jackson, KG, and scrubs.
