He needs to start. When he sits on the bench, he comes in cold and couldn't hit his must have threes we really need.

Didn't he start tonight, and suck, and the other night come off the bench, and play well?

I'm fine with starting him alongside B-Wright until Andris comes back, then I hope it's back to the bench with him... except for when we play Houston.

Al had been climbing everyone's charts throughout February as one of our most important pieces, and turned in a succession of really good performances on both ends. That he's less effective now is again a function of him struggling with almost daily changes in his role/positions. The real problem Al is having right now is that he can't keep his fouling under control. It's like he's had a defensive lobotomy since Dre went down. Getting in early foul trouble limits his minutes with the stronger units and puts him in a position where he has to come off the bench hot in limited action or he ends up useless. Starting vs. benching him probably doesn't solve the fouling problem anyway. It's not having Dre that's got him pressing on D and trying to do things he can't do well - some of those things Wright does instinctively. There few alternatives with Dre unavailable. He just needs to soldier up and pull it together.

I've been the biggest proponent of Al starting all season. But Wright is already credible at the PF position, fits in a running game and provides the shotblocking and length that we can't get from Al. I have always maintained that I want Al starting at PF as long as he's our best PF. Wright is already better than him defensively and on the glass.

Soon after Dre gets back, it might be time to make the change permanently. Of course Al is also better and more effective when we have Dre on the floor next to him . . . everyone is. Whatever move is made with Al vs. Wright starting, I just want there to be some consistency to the minutes and rotations, and I do want our BEST players starting - be that Al or Wright (i.e. no Pete, no Barnes.)

Speaking of Houston . . . with us being forced into playing Al at center more recently, how come we haven't been fronting anyone? It's like we lost that page of the playbook. Weird.

If al starts, he gets hot, and everybody on the warriors get hot. AL is important in starting the game. I've seen it alot of time.

I still can't take you seriously, but yeah, Al has played more of his better ball when starting this season, and everyone on the floor seems to get up when Al is hitting for them.

But Wright just may be a better PF.

I think Al will be fine in whatever role, if it's a rile with consistency. Al is a glue guy more than a feature.

And you're still hilarious.

Wright is not a better PF (yet) - at least not in Nellieball. But he is a much better C than Al.

Al is destined to be shipped with belinelli for the suns lottery pick this year (via the hawks).

That's not nearly enough. A trade like that had better include a guy who can play NOW and the pick.

True . . . but it all comes back to Dre being out. Al is over his head on defense without Dre, and the foul trouble is killing his production. Weather or not your calling them PF's or C's, Al can't stay on the floor right now, and Wright can.

The fact that Wright can rebound, block AND run could make him a better PF fit when Dre returns, even without the spot up shooting. Heck, it's not like Baron or Jack are passing the ball anyway.

I think Al needs to start and I wouldn't mind Wright coming off the bench and providing hustle and energy.

Wright will continue to play hard even if the shots don't fall.

Al needs the shots to fall or he forgets about the total game sometimes.

Nellie needs to get Al comfortable again by starting him night in and night out. We played some of our best ball when Al was consistantly starting.

The good thing now is, when Al goes to the bench, Wright provides the type of energy you need from your bench guys. Plus Wright would be matching up with more of the back-up players that constantly kill us around the league. Milsap, Chuck Hayes, Maxiell, Landry, etc. those guys will outwork Al, but Wright will bother them with length and athleticism.

I'm for Al getting comfortable, because when he's going we are very tough to beat.

I think we are saying the same thing. Since POB and Kosta effectively aren't here, Wright is our only C. So of course he should be on the floor.

But when he is, there is no reason Al can't be playing Pf. In fact, Al is our best PF available then.
