Not really surprised, I just hope he consistently gives Wright 25-30 of PT next year.

Figures, POB out, Nellie gets extended. Think there might be a connection?
All I know is he (Nellie) better thank his players for the effort they've put forth so far this year and as well as last.

I love this move, as I love to get high on burning rubber fumes, but don't like to move.

I want Nellie as a GM or special consultant when his contract is up.

I guess Ellision didn't make an offer yet. Cohan will have to keep the ringmaster on the books for one more season.
I hope this and another playoff appearance gets it done.

Time to start speculating on who the coach in 2009-2010 will be... today's odds: Warriors do well next year - Keith Smart; Warriors choke next year - the competition is wide open. Outside chance after next season: Nellie.
RealGM is relieved, as post counts were to drop 50% would the option have been declined

Are you assuming Nellie coaches the entire 08-09 season? That's a big leap in and of itself there.

I got my money on Nelly pulling an Avery type realtionship with Smart...

I'd also say this is a good indication on Baron opting back in for one more season with Nellie, or being extended if he opts out. (Not that I ever thought he was going anywhere anyway.)
If Nellie were to not finish 08-09 on the bench Smart obviously has the inside track as successor, but I'm honetly not excited about him coaching the team. Not because of any "Nellie disciple" issue, but because Baron and Jack are just too volatile for an uncredentialed coach. Through any rough stretch, it would be easy for an inexperienced guy to lose this team.
If Baron stays longer than next year, I'd still like to see Paul Silas coach here. No, not Stephen, Paul. The elder Silas is a native Oaklander, Mcclymonds grad, NCAA record holding big man, NBA pedigreed guy with a winning record as both a player and as a coach, and 3 championship rings.
It's ridiculous to me that this guy has been sidelined from NBA coaching for as long as he has (and twice fired with winning records after playoff seasons.) He is old, but he did interview for the Charlotte job last year, so he's not totally done with the game. I'd like to see him finish what he started with Baron before things got all screwy in New Orleans.

lol, he wants to leave the opportunity open to holding out for more money if they make noise in the playoffs.

Whoever the next coach is, and whenever that is, I hope they bring in a guy who has similar philosophies about running. Warriors have finally gotten to the point where their roster suits their style (still need some upgrades, of course), and I would hate for them to do a 180 with the roster, or try to force the guys into a system which does not suit them.

He wants to pass Wilkins alltime for wins.
hes currently 61 more wins away.
If we can win like 15 out of are 20 remaining.
Then hed be 46 away with out counting what happens in the playoffs Nelly Would only need 46 to take over Wilkins record. Plus with the surgence of Ellis, Beans, And Al Baron and jack all in there prime it shouldnt be that hard to hit that mark.

Nellie continues to hold the trump card over the Warriors' management. He will probably wait until the start of training camp to make his decision to return as coach. It's always nice to be a position where you can control your own destiny; being in line for a huge raise in pay doesn't hurt either.
