Kenny Smith:

The Warriors are probably, out of the 9 teams, the team that probably has the most likely chance NOT to make the playoffs...if you had to put your money on a team not making it, Golden State would be that team.

I thank the Lord every day for the media as it relates to the Dubs, because it's stuff like this that you KNOW drives them, at least on some level. Smith talked about how we enjoyed success in the postseason last year, but didn't have a great regular season, not really mentioning this regular season, of course.

But he's not alone...every analyst that I can think of not named Marc Stein hates the Warriors and continually sells them short. Good. No All-Stars, no MVP talk, no respect...it's all adding up.

I don't know why no one seems to think much of the Warriors, but I wouldn't really want it any other way. Something about rooting for this team makes me feel like I've got a middle finger to the entire sports world, and I love it.

I don't think Kenny Smith hates the Warriors; in fact on one TNT broadcast he said that the Warriors were his favorite team to watch.

I would have made a similiar statement two weeks ago, however there is a good chance now that we could end up wth a better record than the Suns and Mavs. The Nuggets are struggling and I think they have the talent, but for some reason just can't put it all together. The Warriors road win at Denver was huge.

Actually, Baron's getting tons of MVP talk, and everyone was shocked by his snub. This sounds kinda weird, but if the Warriors were in LA and the Lakers here, they'd (Dubs) be by far the most popular team in sports, and it would be Baron doing all the commercials, and the Lakers sitting in the dumps of the media.

IMO Kenny, unlike Barkley, has never been viewed as a Warrior hater. He has always been fair to the team and, especially Baron. The Warriors are in a position tonight to make the doubters into believers.

Its definitely good fuel to the fire. We're just not a team that anyone easily associates with winning. Hell, I have a hard time with it. If we make it into the playoffs again, and do some damage, we should get our due respect then. The league and the fans are catching on slowly...there's nobody out there under the age of 80 who doesn't enjoy watching the Warriors play.

I do think there is a lack of respect, and agree that the disrespect is adding to our "underdog" nature. Which is all good.

I think the thuggery factor can't be ignored. Even though we know our players are all have good character, I have relatives in Texas and Chicago, and they still think of us as a "thug" team. If you're from Connecticut and watched 5 minutes of a game where Baron is jawing at the refs, and you see Barnes, SJack, Harrington, with all the tats, you would think this team is fairly thuggish. But I dunno, I'm rambling. There's also AB, Monta, Buke, and BWright that look like clean cut chaps..so who knows.

wow that's pretty surprising to hear from him. I always thought that Kenny Smith was knowledgeable about the Warriors.

We're like what, 40-17 since our 0-6 start? That's good for the 4th best record in the league and Phil Jackson says that ELITE teams get 40 wins before 20 losses.

I think it's just that when people look at the standings and see that the Warriors are in the 8th seed, they tend to view us as a bad team who's on the verge of falling out. :lol:

I would have agreed with Kenny Smith's quote 2 weeks ago. Now picking Denver as the team that does not make the playoffs seems correct. How old is the quote?

Barnes tats are not what make him a thug, but rather his constant cheap shot flagrants. Also as far as the rest of the team goes, it's the high number of techs and constant whining by Baron and Jackson, which I will say is a bit better of late.

Agreed.

We are new to this winning thing and it takes the media a long time to have an original thought and go "out on a limb" to make an accurate rather than safe prediction.

But we know that because we watch every game. If you are a conservative person, who only sees a small glimpse, you will see tats and think thug. That idea about tattoos is changing in our society...moreso in the Bay area and California than the red states so to speak.

That was pretty thuggish. Lot of people saw that. But I liked it, what's wrong with a little theater?

Tattoos have gotten pretty commonplace. All the Ts last year played into the thugishness, as did the off-court history of Jackson. But play hard, play clean, play with emotion, have fun. If anyone has a problem with that, they can watch church league ball instead.
