Thoughts on a Clippers trade
What are your thoughts on a trade package built around Maggette and the number six pick for Baron Davis in the offseason?
alright

alright
Just checking. I thought this was a possible trade GS could make if they decide to build around Monta Ellis. There would be a logjam at the swingman position but I guess the idea would be not to reup Pietrus, build around Monta and then draft another talented guard while creating a great scoring duo in Monta and Maggette. Maybe I have fan goggles on but I really don't see the trade of a borderline all-star and a high pick in a relatively deep draft for Baron Davis as terrible.

If and only if we dont make the playoffs and somehow we can get
Derrick Rose or Michael Beast!
So if that pick would net us either of the two I'd personnaly buy Baron the plane ticket.
Thats the only way. Baron Davis is not the future Ellis is.
We have lost as many games cuzz of him as we have won cuzz of him.
Then ship out Al and BrickNJack. And we are set forever.

WestBrook aint to bad either, plus if we can unload Barons,Harringtons,BricknJacks salarys we could make a real run for a another young SuperStar,
Just Look at the free agency
Josh Smith, res
Okafor, res
JO (if he Opts out
Brand(same OPT
Strawberry(OPT sign him for cheap great move
Igudula, res
Jose Calderon or Ford(either available
Deng, Res
Dont forget the 10mill TE
I wish I was the GM so much to play with.

How about a Maguette for Al deal straight up (Maguette would make the perfect Nellie Power Forward)? He can also shoot the 3 like Al does and probably plays better D. He'd definitely be better than Barnes, Pietrus and Bukie at the 4.

in case you've missed it. Davis hasn't missed a game this year and has been playing at near all-star level on a team that's going to win 50 games.
anyways i know Davis can be a pain in the a$$ at times, but still even the haters should reconize that he's helped this team far more than he's hurt it. i mean it isn't even close IMO.
however as far as the future goes though. Ellis over Davis.
just can't hate on Davis for what he's done this year.

Both players can opt out - and Maggette almost certainly will.
So if a trade is made now (in order to get draft pick), Clips must add a lot because there is a huge difference in salary.
Otherwise, a sign & trade is not possible until July 15 - and that is 3 weeks after the draft
Warriors would be idiots to trade now for a player that can opt out - and they wouldnt have any decent PG if Baron is dealt

For those defending Baron... that's the 1st defense he's seen since the AS break.
What a shame the media can convince you to give a free pass on him because he's on the front page of the ticket packets you buy... he has been absolutely horrendous, with spotty good play, since the AS break and is given a free pass... brutal that we hold our captains to such low standards.

The reality is that we cannot just send $30-35 mill in contracts into the void of space. We will get back some contracts....more or less the same since hardly anyone is so under cap they can eat salary. The J Rich deal was special in that at the time only the Bobs could do such a deal.
Smith and Okafor are so young and so good that their teams see them as absolute core, and IF somehow there was any chance either escapes-every team would try to cook up something. MAYBE we can melt down what we got somewhat and get a bit under cap-but $15-20 mill under cap?

Post season-the TPE and Pietrus-POB-Barnes-etc etc do could as cap until resolved, there's assorted holds that don't all show.
Brand...J O'Neal.......JO has had another season of playing just over half the games, and he often was just a shadow of himself. Brand didn't play and for all we know may not return at the same level-or may be a player more vulnerable to injury in the future.
The cost effective path is drafting smart, fast tracking, getting your prime picks into roles and then starting while they are still low $ rookie contracts.
Chasing the top$ stars who already hit or passed their peak risks becoming the Knicks. You don't ultimately base things on mercenaries and malcontents, with a revolving door roster and a master plan that changes with the weather.
The TPE? Well.....it does mean we can basically trade a draft pick for a player, but in most cases, teams are not trading away starters or high-end prospects for pure cap room. We can play the Charlotte role ( J Rich deal) in a trade of #14 (or ?) for player X. That is an instant payroll hike and depending on player X's age/contract,it might sacrafice a lot of future for a couple years of one more decent rotation guy.
Pietrus,POB,B Wright were LOTTO picks. Only Pietrus was much of a factor, and likely he exits with POB and we get zero for either. We didn't showcase Diogu well, and Belli has had a lot less showcase,so Belli right now probably has a lot less market value than at the start of the season.
There ain't no magic bullet. Draft and develop has to become an area where we are consistently B+ rather than typically D+. Trades CAN help-or backfire, and if the core is constantly changing, you have no roots,no identity. That's a big difference between the 49er's of a decade or 2 ago and the current team.

Absolutely horrendous?

Is there something I missed, like Baron < Jasekavicus? Does,in the Real GM vernacular of overstatement, Absolutely Horrendous= slightly dissappointing, like a messiah only good for a few miracles a week?
Baron,Jax,even Monta are not All Star regulars, are not HOF's. However....you have to go way back to find Warriors in either category.
Like most players, Baron can't deliver his "game of the year" on a regular basis, but average it out and he's pretty special. Monta has shown he CAN be a STAR at SG,can play bigger than he is,can be a matchup nightmare. I have no doubt he can be a real good PG too...that's been shown in spurts, but as-is, GSW has a dynamic G duo that is our main edge. Our coach seems to want to run at a 100 meter dash pace...and do it for a mile.

That trade wont work straight up even if both of them don't opt out.
This is about the only trade scenario I could see working.

I love it. Jackson has one bad road trip and he is getting run out of town, even though we would probably be under 40 wins at this point without him. Some people need to take a deep breath and relax when things aren't going 100% our way.

trust me not just the road trip we watching the same games here he hit two clutch shots angainst LA and the next day he lets Fisher and Shasha dick slap him around9-21 doesnt cut it.Other then that hes sucked pretty muched through the whole month of March. Look at his stats a leader a captain shouldnt be shooting 3-15 in a game.
Not to mention his defence is severally overrated he doesnt even bother putting up his hands on defence. Ship him while his stock is still high, thats all I can say.

Remember contract year, near doesnt cut it, since the AS break hes been slacking off and straight chucking the 3.
Team is the key answer to your own statement. He hasnt been playing like a team his assists are down more shot attempts less makes more hogging the ball. Same goes for Jack. You know it I know it we just dont want to say it cuzz hes the Captian but its true him and Jack are playing selfishly. Even Nelly addmitted it Monta was the go to man we should have went to him way more often, he should of had more shot attempts.
