I have a great idea...

Let's get so wrapped in our own egos and opinions that we root against our own team to validate them.

Anyone who actively roots against their team getting in the playoffs for their own personal agendas is the fan equivalent of Pietrus.

 I was waiting for that name-drop :D

Everyone here is rooting for the team... some believe it would be more beneficial to our team to get the 14th pick rather than have a dead-legged team make the playoffs....

Having any kind of original thought or outside-the-box thinking is forbidden by the pessimists here... the extreme irony of that is that they completely buy into Nellie's gimmickball :dontknow:

I don't care either way... playoffs are personally more entertaining, so selfishly I want them in... obviously its better for the franchise as a whole if we don't get in. It could necessitate a coaching / personnel / style change, a much better draft pick, and serve as motivation for next season being a 46+ win team that was on the outside looking in...

Bottom line - the fact that people are criticizing people's fandom is beyond ridiculous... the line "You're not a true fan unless _______ " is high school crap or drunken sports bar talk.

Can I root for the team and still want Pietrus to fall into a wood chipper on the way to his car after our last game of the year?

Yes. He's technically not our problem as of that date and time.
But I smell a re-signing. Petey has been dyn-O-mite. Gotta retain your drafted talent or what are you building toward?

Am I right?

I am not opposed to trading Pietrus-mulch for a conditional 2nd.

I agree with everything but the last paragraph. I'm not saying people aren't true fans, I can just feel that people are arguing points and rooting against our players and our team to validate them. It makes this board unreadable at times. But that's just my opinion and I know I ain't anything special.

+10000000

i've never used my iggy before until recently. Its the only way i can tolerate some of these threads (unfortunately i still have to see a bunch of Jam thread titles, etc.)

It's become so much of a pissing contest (nellie's an idiot, i'm coaching genius, if you disagree you're a homer and a basketball moron).

There are some players that i don't care for: POB & Pietrus. But if they wear the uniform i associate with, i still want them to make their shots, rebound, and block shots.

If we don't enjoy the failure of the players on our team, why do people enjoy the failure of the coach of our team? Even when Nellie plays Bwright and Biedrins, there's never any post saying. "Nice move Nellie"

The Warriors board has really become a complaint department, not a place to root for the team. Sadly.

Do i think Pietrus will turn into a pumpkin? Yes.
Did i love every moment of his monster block on KMart with his kidd n play haircut? Hell yes.

I certainly feel it's important to build up the talent pool and especially to cultivate the guys who began in the system. It is not cost effective to get in a bidding war for a big ticket FA,and even if you do,you can't expect to do a whole roster that way. Some folks have got snow blind when it comes to bashing on a player, and Pietrus had become a target of that. Granted....at times he did suck. However...he has been playing quite well for awhile, something of a breakthrough, and if he stayed at a reasonable price....lucky for us,because those star quality stretches like he had vs Sac will become more frequent while the "dumb rookie" moments become no worse than any player. I think us leaving him hanging got him thinking he'd be more welcome elsewher, and gave other teams the idea they could grab him for free once he's a FA and have a starter with rare athleticism. Could be it's too late for GSW to keep him.

For him to just exit is not a good thing. At the least it's a case of us having a roster that turns over every 2 years. It says we lack some essential competance in the whole draft + develop process.

Why after our last game of the year and not now? wood chipper is an awful way to go, has Pietrus done something to any of your closely related female relatives?

He still owes me and every other W's fan 390 minutes of decent play to make up for pouting his way through the first 45 games of the season.

I think everyone here wants the Warriors to do well.

We want every player to play well.

but when the team has a comsistant area of struggle, then your human nature is to try and figure it out and then point it out.

Asking people to blindly ignore problems is not normal.

Some of my own complaining can be over the top sometimes, but certain issues continue to be ignored.

Rebounding, shot blocking, and back-up PG, have been a consistant since last years trade.

Why we haven't taken care of them is tough to swallow and therefore the fingers get pointed.

But we all love the Warriors and root for even the guys we don't really like.
