I feel jrich could have helped

Post#1 » by cdubbz » Fri Apr 11, 2008 2:31 am

PG - Baron
SG - Monta
SF - Jrich
PF - Jackson
C - Biedrins

I feel we could have traded jrich after this season to clear room for ellis and biedrins. Jrich gave us ANOTHER scorer to the mix, a post up player, a rebounder and just another option. The warriors always seem like they are lacking something almost every year. Sure someone would have to take a backseat if we kept jrich and i would tihnk it would be al harrington coming off the bench. Ellis could still develop with jrich in the mix...his midrange shot and post up moves gave us anotehr option that we are just lacking right now.

10 more mpg of bonafide NBA talent at any position could have helped.

Playoff teams don't look like this:

Thud
Mbenga
Barnes
CJ
Webber
Pete
Bukie

Trading JRich put the Warriors out of the playoffs this year. Don't know how the trade will look in the future.

Cohan spending the TE on yatch gas is what took us out of the playoffs.

I'd still do the trade again today. Wright is going to be a monster.

We won close to 50 games. We just got unlucky with how tough the conference is this year.

I still like BWright but yes, with a healthy Jrich, we'd make the playoffs. He'd easily be our best 3 pt shooter and would've saved Jax and Al's legs throughout the season.

on court production aside i still think jason would have helped us get to the playoffs this year. he's not the vocal leader that baron and jack are, but he was the guy with that history when we sucked so bad. he took that personally and it showed when he played. when we were within sniffing distance of the playoffs last year there's no way jason would let that slip from his grasp. these new guys don't know that feeling and they take games for granted. now it's too late. when jason screwed up he looked at the film and studied his mistakes cause he wasn't gonna do the same mistake twice. these guys will put a bad game behind them alright, but they won't try to correct the mistakes that made the game bad. so they end up repeating it. brandan is the future. but i wish we could have re-negotiated jason's contract to keep him - if that was possible, then give up al, pietrus and maybe matt. i don't know.

Maybe Barnes? He is a trainwreck waiting to happen. I'd rather have Pietrus than Barnes in that deal.

J-Rich, Monta, Jack, Pietrus, and Bukie are redundant. With the drafting of Bellinelli, someone (maybe 2) had to go. Because of the salary situation, and the opportunity to get a high pick in the draft, it had to be J-Rich. We actually won significantly more games this year, we just didn't have the push at the end like we did last season. Keep in mind that Jason was out most of the first half and so when he came back in the second half, he was pretty strong going into the stretch run, as was Baron to a certain degree as he had gotten a lot of rest due to his injury before returning. So if J-Rich were here, there's not telling where we'd be at this point (who knows maybe he even would have gotten injured) and we don't know what it would have likely done to Monta's development (he definitely wouldn't have been a starter. I guess one thing it might have done was given us a significantly stronger bench, since we'd probably have Monta as our 6th man.

JRich on the Warriors this year might make the playoffs... at which point, we'd still be dismantled and still be lacking a presence inside, and not have Wright at all...

JRich is a 2 guard that doesn't pass well, or defend all that well either... making a ton of money. There's just no positives to bring him back... make the playoffs... wahoo... ticket prices go up again and the team talent level takes a hit or stays the status quo...

I remember the trade as the day I thought Nelson finally got it... then the broken down Yi trade details became kinda obvious... so to summarize, thanks Larry Harris, and just know that even if you are a bleeding heart JRich fan because he was our lone decent player in a sh*tstorm of garbage, it could be a lot worse:

i hear you turk. but while monta picked up jason's slack no one's really stepped in and given us what monta was doing last year on a consistent basis. my thing with jason is that he was a different type of leader from baron and jack. monta is becoming a leader and a good one, but buike and MP don't mesure up to jason in that way. i'm thinking of jason the person more so than jason the player or what kind of physical skills he brings to the table.

but i hear you turk. you make good sense.

the way jason played this year with the bobcats i still think we would have been able to get something for him. yeah jrich wouldnt have avg 20 ppg with the warriors this season, but im sure some team would see something in him.
