Who Stays?

Post#1 » by bill curley II » Fri Apr 11, 2008 4:21 am

Nellie?

Barnes?

Pietrus?

Buike?

POB?

Baron?

Jax?

Al?

Personally, wouldn't mind if they all left. Everyone except Baron and Biedrins was total crap tonight, and Baron was crap for most of the game anyways.

What a great offseason this is going to be..We've got all these FA's and player options..We've got the 14th pick..There's even hope the ODB retires...You got a great playoffs to watch..Then You have summer league and Olympics....

It's sad that POB is leaving my team..But I'm hoping he goes east so I can watch him play a lot on league pass..

Who would I keep for sure?

Wright, Ellis and Biedrins.

Who would I look to trade 1st?

Baron..But give me a team and I'll give you a reason why he's not going there...

.

3 keepers...The tall kids AB and BW and Monta....

Probably the 2 on the team Nellie most wants out of here are BW and AB..

Granted I lurk moreso than post here, but I've been a big advocate of blowing it all up for a while. This team isn't going to win a championship, and if you're not gearing towards that, what's the point?

Get rid of everyone except Monta, Biedrins, and Wright. Even then, I don't feel that's a championship core.

Eh, maybe I'm bitter from the game tonight, a big part of me wanted to be a first round fodder for at least one more year.

Baron won't be going unless we get a rediculous package in return. Even if most of the people on RGM don't like him management does and he sells tickets.

Nellie?
Hell no. This guy is responsible for the smell of burnt rubber all year... spinning our tires and getting nowhere. Nowhere this year, nowhere for the future. Be gone.

Barnes?
Depends. Vet minimum, sure. Anything else, good luck breaking Massenberg's record.

Pietrus?
Addition by subtraction.

Buike?
If anyone but Nellie is coaching, I hope he picks up his option. Otherwise, get rid of him.

POB?
Oh if only we could.

Baron?
I'd love to trade him, but what would we get? Surely scouts are seeing the same Baron we are. And what else could possibly motivate him? He's close to LA, he gets complete offensive freedom... still not playing his best all the time. We're stuck with him.

Jax?
See Baron. But Jax is much cheaper and plays better D. We are stuck with Jack until his contract is up - no one will give us what he's worth to us.

Al?
So long as Nellie goes, I'd like to keep Al. Using him 20-25 per as a F would be beneficial for us, as he can spread the floor and he's a very underrated defender. His contract means he can and should be shopped though.

Monta?
Definite keeper, more so than anyone on the team. Yes, length and height is rare, but what's more rare? A speedy guy who's a near automatic finisher and has a damn good midrange jumper. There are only a handful of guys in the league with Tay's speed (Barbosa, Ford, CP3, Parker) and of those guys, Barbosa can't pass as well or get to the rim as well, Ford can't shoot as well... CP3 and Parker are top PGs in the league, and Tay could be right there with him. He's untradable IMO, unless we get a franchise big back.

Biedrins
Try and keep him at all costs. I love Biedrins, I think he's got a ton of potential - but it seems we're disinterested in bringing any of it out. It needs to be a priority to get him some offensive touches - but if the draft is kind enough, and we can sell Beans to a team based on what he could become as compared to what he is, I do it.

Wright?
Unquestioned keeper... how can you trade someone with so many physical assets and such a feel for the game? On defense he showed inexperience but not misunderstanding... he makes me excited for the future.

Kosta? CJ? Cro?

Add Kevin Garnet to this team without losing anybody and the team becomes my pick to win the championship. Unfortunately that can't happen.

Fire everybody and replace them with who?

We can't get anything for Baron, Jackson and Harrington so we might as well keep them and see if 50 wins gets a playoff spot next year.

POB and Pietrus will go looking for some place else they would rather play.

Bring back everybody else. Try to find a up tempo pure point guard to bring off the bench for eight minutes a game, who's job it will be to try to get the team running when they start falling asleep on the court.

The team needs a back up center.

The 2006-2007 version of Matt Barnes could have helped this team; so the team should see if that guy can be found.

Give Nellie incentive money for playing his bench players. When nobody can hit there 3s and the other team is playing a sagging zone, try throwing Belinelli out there.

Get Wright 15 + minutes a game.

Don't draft any rookies, Nellie won't use them. Trade the draft picks for future draft picks. If we do draft at 14, look for the future back up point guard and then send him to the NBDL so he can get some experience.

You could say that about 10-15 teams in the league...

Phoenix...Nash/KG/Amare with Shaq off the bench
Denver...AI/Melo/KG with Camby covering the paint
Portland...can't even imagine Roy/KG/Oden/LMA
Orlando...Dwight/KG frontcourt? Goodnight.
Warriors...been there
Utah...Deron, AK, KG, Boozer, Okur
Houston...Yao, KG and TMac

Not to metion already legit contenders like New Orleans, San Antonio, Boston, Detroit, etc...

Hell even teams like Philly (Miller/Iguodala/KG/Dalembart), New Jersey (Harris/VC/RJ/KG) and Miami (Rose/Wade/Marion/KG) might have a shot to win it all if you add KG for nothing...something about getting a franchise big man tends to do that to a team.

Very interesting comments by some. For all his faults I still like Baron and hope he returns. What other PG option do the Warriors have. Monta is good at the tweener role but passing, court vision and setting up teammates is not his specialty. Watching this game tonight was frustrating and depressing as it reinforces the need for the Warriors to get a big man with a pulse, some heart and ability to defend and rebound. I say let the bust aka O' Bryant leave as well as Pietrus and Barnes. I think the Warriors are stuck with Jackson and Harrington for better and worse. The Warriors lived by the three all season and tonight they died by it. Small ball does not work in the long run, time to add some big bodies if the Warriors want to make the post season next year when the West will be even tougher.

Gone: Nellie, Pietrus, Barnes, POB

Stay: Baron, Buike, Jax

Al could go either way.

Of course this all depends who becomes a FA we could go after if we then dump Baron's money.

Will be here next year because there are no possible trades:
Baron
Jack
Al

Should be here next year or I'll pack some pitchforks and come over:
Monta
Andris
Wright
(Bellinelli)

Can stay if they come cheap:
Barnes
Cro
Azu

See you in Minnesota&Milwaukee:
POB
Pietrus

Who cares?:
CJ
Kosta

I've no :censored: idea:
Nelson... isn't he the best coach we had since... well Nelly himself? But it's more or less obvious that this team has peaked and needs a new philosophy to make it to the next level. I just really don't know who could replace him, so it could (!!!) be better to stand put. This team + Nelly should win atleast 44 games next year. Isn't that the best we can hope for?

Nellie will still be here.

Baron will still be here, though a trade at the deadline might be an option as he is an expiring.

Jack will be here until his contract expires, unless the Warriors give up a key young player to dump him...not worth it.

Buike...Earlier in the season I thought he would opt out, but I'm not so sure if he will now. He will be another casuality of Nellie's small balls...

Pietrus...gone.

Croshere...gone

Barnes...probably gone.

Ellis will get his payday.

Biedrins...don't be shocked if he isn't an S&T. Hopefully he is still a Warrior.

Wright...not going anywhere.

Al...the logical trade piece because of his salary. He has more interest from teams than this board gives him credit for...but what do we get in return?

The Warriors will have the cap space this off season to make things happen and the JRich TE. I could see the Warriors moving up in the draft or completely out of it if they find a trade that is workable. I think the team should rebuild around Ellis, Biedrins and Wright. I would keep Marco around for another season to see if he will ever catch on to the NBA game, especially if ODB is gone. I would like to see the Warriors resign POB if they haven't burned that bridge. He wasn't worth the money they would have to pay him next season had they extended him. However, the Warriors did lose their rights to him by not extending him.

Al needs to be traded for two reasons:

1. Wright needs to get as much court time as possible next season.
2. He sucks balls for a 10M/yr player.

Id trade him to the Knicks for Malik Rose's expiring contract, Renaldo Balkman, and their second round pick (#34).

Azu needs to be brought back. The guy is a fine backup SG/SF and I think his price is going to be quite reasonable. Of course, some other team might feel the same way and make his price not so reasonable. Sadly I think that he is going to be gone and that we are going to regret it.

Barnes showed this year that last season was a complete outlier and that he really is just a journeyman. If he wanted to come back for 1M a year, good on him. It might be the best offer that he gets anyway, so he very well could return. If he doesnt, fine by me.

Pietrus is a good player to have off the bench when considering his ridiculous athleticism and perfect SF body, but I think it is time for he and the Warriors to part ways. I dont think he will ever become much more than what we have seen over the past several seasons, so it wont be a huge loss.

Cro will come back unless some team in the West offers him more than the Vet minimum. Not likely, so he stays in his home state. There is the possibility he goes to the Lakers or Clips if they want him. I would really like him here, though. The guy is undervalued with that 3 pointer and his heady play.

Monta gets a shade under the Kevin Martin contract and stays.

Beans gets 10M a year and stays.

Stephen stays, despite his having a bad final two weeks he still averaged 20/5/4 on the season (for goodness sakes).

Obviously Brandan, Marco, and Kosta will stay. I expect Marco to play a bigger role next season and get at least 15 mpg.

Baron...I think he stays, but I could see him being shopped quietly. The guy is an all star caliber guard and will be an expiring contract next season so he has immense trade value. Only if we got a very high pick and some promising pieces would he be dealt. So he likely stays.

FA Signed: Anthony Johnson

Draft Picks:

14- Chris Douglas Roberts SF
34 (via Knicks)- Richard Roby SG
44- Joey Dorsey PF/C
My roster next season:

Baron/Anthony Johnson
Monta/Marco/Roby
SJax/Chris Douglas Roberts
Wright/Balkman/M.Rose
Beans/Kosta/Cro/Dorsey

The biggest problem with the W's this season was the lack of consistent bench production, rebounding and perimeter defense.

SJAX was clearly the player that if he shoots well, the W's will generally get the win--assuming that BD and Ellis were having good games.

What really disappointed me in last nights game was that we outrebounded denver 52 to 44 and still lost. The W's also shot like crap from 3pt land.

We will need Mully to address the problems of this team and get some players that can the job done.

If I'm Mully, I will try to get Francisco Garcia from the Kings. He's a much better shooter and player than Barnes is right now. I'd also want them to play Bellinelli more in the upcoming season. The same could be said for Bwright.

We really need to deal Harrington and do a MP sign and trade to get a stop gap PF like Gooden, Wilcox or CVillanueva, or even David Lee.

Lastly in terms of the draft, I'd like them to get CDR or Brandon Rush. We need a 6'6" SG/SF that can do it all and play smart team ball.

The part of me that is hoping we miss the playoffs is the part of me that wishes nellie into retirement. if you lead a team to its best season in 14 years, but still miss the playoffs - i just don't know that it'd be worth it to him to do it all over again, knowing he doesn't have another 2-3 year window of opportunity to make things happen.

I honestly think a desirable ending to this season would be to have the warriors miss the playoffs, but make the end of the year all about a nellie sendoff. kinda like what the giants did w/ bonds when they were busy honoring him before he committed to playing out last season.

just play it up like it may be nellie's last game on the sidelines. i'm grateful for nellie bringing us back to relevancy, but he's essentially a lame duck coach because of his age. unless they mortgage the future to try to land nellie a title contender next year (at the price of monta/biedrins, etc), what's the incentive? nellie accomplished what he was brought in for. the team is exciting. they have an identity. they're a winning team. they're playoff caliber. but the gimmick has to stop because the pieces won't work right under another coach.

unfortunately, nellie holds ALL the cards in terms of what direction to go in next. if nellie accepts the 3rd year, it will be the team built for nellie ball plus another draft pick that may or may not play.

if gs has the right successor that can maintain the idea of pushing tempo, but values what the bigs bring, then there's a shot at retaining POB (which is worth the investment, imo).

it's time to sever ties with all the free agent swingmen. buike has a player option & i'm fine with him either way. for it to work LONG TERM, nellie has to call it a career. missing the playoffs may help that.

Baron: Could get ugly quick. I'll bet he's back though. 18mil.

Tay: 9mil per 5 years. Fingers crossed

Jax: Not going anywhere. He just shot his way into staying.

Al: Toss up. You only deal him if the guy coming back is a no brainer. Good luck on that.

Beans: Resign for 10 mil per 5 years.

Barnes: Retire

Pietrus: Gone. No team will sign and trade. Miami has him next year.

Azu: Comes back and sees a future without Baron around, opening up minutes.

Croshere: Gone. Did OK, but the health wasn't worth it.

Wright: Goes nowhere. Cheap and the future.

Belli: Goes nowhere unless it's in a deal with AL.

Obee: Gone to Minny with Jefferson.

Kosta: Stays. He's to expensive to deal. Stiff.

CJ: Who cares?

Hopefully we get lucky with either a draft pick or in a Harrington deal. Likely hood of either................crap shoot.
