As I get over the hangover from last night, I honestly feel that not making the playoffs this year will be a blessing in disguise. This team was destined for a playoff meltdown even if we did make it. It has been proven that our style can win, however this team was just absolutely beat.

Signs of a tired basketball team:

A. Can't get legs under shot

B. Sloppy with the ball.

3. Lackadaisical on Defense

We were all of those things and more over this last stretch.

This team's number one priority in the off season (besides locking up Ellis and Beans) is get deeper. Part of this will be taken care of the development of this years' rookies, but we need to acquire at least two veterans that can contribute off the bench, as well as our draft pick. I'd also try and resign both Azubuike and Barnes. Barnes hasn't played well, but he is a great locker room presence, and he should come cheap. I don't see a high demand for Buike either, so there is no reason we can't sign him to a reasonable deal.

One guy that I would really like to target in the offseason would be James Posey. He has an opt out in his contract, and the Celtics are so cash strapped with their big three that we could probably offer more then they would match. He is a great defender, and has a proven ability to knock down the 3.

Next deal I would make, would be with the Sonics using our TPE. If they end up with Rose in the lottery, they are going to want to dump either Watson or Ridnour. We desperately need a proven backup PG to save Baron some minutes. They would gladly give Watson up for the TPE, and I think they would probably throw in one of their project centers to boot.

As far as the draft is concerned, we need to go with the BPA. A guy that I love is Anthony Randolph if he falls. There should be a ton of great options at 14, and we can really pick regardless of position.

Harrington/Wright/Draft Pick
Biedrins/Petro or Sene

Totally. In addition, after the top two picks in this draft, the talent between 3-14 is rather plentiful and balanced. The number 3-4 pick isn't too far talent wise from the 13-14. Since the Warriors are in a position to pick the best player available regardless of position, they are in a great spot to nab a big time talent that falls a bit on draft day.

I also think that the higher pick we will be getting adds some juice to perhaps making a deal for a player who could really help. Al + pick + TPE (prior to draft) might net us something worthwhile, perhaps we could make a deal to move up even higher. The 14 pick does give a much bigger "chip" to use whatever way we choose to and definitely increases our trade prospects.

I think you are right about the legs being gone. I blame Nellie. I don't believe this bench was so horrible that they could not be used.

Strange thing about Nellie is that when he was having his greatest success with the Bucks he played his bench including guys who were not very good like Paul Mokeski.

Posey will be getting old and might not be as good as Barnes and Azubuike by next year but he is probably getting his second championship ring this spring and that kind of experience would be a good addition to the Warriors.

Turk the trade Exception has to be used right before the draft I beleive, if used at all.

We can't combine it with another trade though. We'd have to do 2 seperate deals.

Exactly, we'd have to do it before the draft and you're right it would have to be two separate deals. It may take something like that in order to move Al and get something back that we'd really want though. I can't see trading him for something less than he is which may be all that's available. I say we'd be better off keeping him if that's the case.

I believe Nellie needs to have some faith in his ENTIRE bench and let them play (and learn and progress) during the season. Bellinelli can shoot the ball. He could be our Pargo or JR Smith !? POB can block shots and roll to the hoop just like AB, give the kid a freakin chance ! Now...we're at the end of the season and all our regular starters are tired. Baron's probably wondering "Why did I not miss 20 games with an injury so I could get some rest ?" My biggest criticism of Nellie is he doesnt use the ENTIRE bench. Why are they there ? Why pay them to sit ? I'd take 750K to sit on an NBA bench and travel in 1st class style , wouldn't you ?
