pietrocious wants to come back

Post#1 » by GSWbandwagon » Mon Apr 14, 2008 3:32 pm

from the article...

"I think when you look at the team, I'm one of the fan favorites, and one of the team's franchise players, I hope, and then I would like to remain here if they are going to sacrifice for me."

"Yeah, I'm definitely open to that. Always have been," Mullin said. "I have great respect for him as a player and as a person."

I'm not even sure he'd make our "franchise" starting lineup. I'm thinking of the sort of lifeboat rankings we end up doing in the workplace at review time. Suppose there was an expansion draft, and we could only protect a limited number of players. In the absence of salary concerns, my list probably includes at least Baron, Monta, Jax, Biedrins, Wright. After that, the next tier of guys probably includes Al, Pietrus, and Marco in some order or another. If you take salaries into account, noone would protect Baron in an expansion draft I'd bet. You might remove Jax and Al from the list. Point being, though, that Pietrus is at *best* our 6th MVP, and our 4th young-ish cheap guy. He might be lower than that.

Hell, after typing all that out, if I had to throw Pietrus or Azubuike out of the lifeboat, I'm not sure who I'd pick. Based on what I expect they'd each expect to be paid, I would advise Pietrus to bring a lifejacket.

Does anyone else think that Pietrus is schizofrenic?

He's just trying to get some leverage on whatever deal he can get elsewhere. All he's done is basically telling the Ws FO that he's amenable to an S & T (if they can get it) and there's no hard feelings (Ws kind of shafted him and his agent). Of course the FO is happy with that, they may be able to get something for him. Just a little posturing on both sides, I wouldn't read too much into that.

Hey, maybe we can get something out of it. Now if we could do the same with POB. It's be nice to get something in return for two of our lottery picks and not just have them walk leaving us with an empty bag.

the only thing that's worse than Warriors missing the playoffs is if they resign their starting/backup/injured PF...

That makes me worried for Beans, not Pietrus.

Worst news this offseason... Pietrus' agent must be wise to what his market is outside of GS.

I might be a tiny bit open to keeping the French Connection here until remembering that the Head Coach thinks that playing a 6'6", 216 lb. Power Forward is a smart idea.

Hey, a whole page of responses on MP but none an Abysmal one? He must be asleep at the wheel.

If Biedrins and Ellis aren't inked to long term deals this summer, I'm out.

I still predict Beans getting the QO, and Ellis signing a 3 year - 31 something deal.. those have become trendy.

Look at Wade, LeBron, Bosh now... they have their franchises by the curlies... those 3 year extensions were a stroke of genius. Now the Heat either have to pay Wade crazy or risk losing him, like the other 2. It's a smart move to ensure that your playing for a good team, or at the very least, insanely rich.

I'll take the three years, but the QO will be unacceptable. Biedrins wants to be here, so there's no reason why it shouldn't get done.

 Here's hoping...

It should be interesting to watch Beans' saga unravel though.. what will win out? Mully's desire to keep his first succcessful draft pick, or his apprehensiveness to hand out long extensions in-house?

Prediction: Warriors initially offer Biedrens the QO (especially if Baron decides to take his option or FO gives him a long term deal) and unless it's handled properly by FO Biedrens agent takes a hard line (just like he did last season and asks for even more than he asked for last time).

Biedrens gets signed and traded for someone who has the money and is willing to give him a bigger deal and trade back some high paid vet. We get them to probably take Al off our hands. Look out, this is a very distinct possibility.

Some examples: 1) Marion + filler for Biedrens S & Harrington
Brand + Maguette for Biedrens (he moves to Power forward/backup center with Caveman) + Al + whatever filler required to make finances work. There's probably several others that might work.

Maybe even the Lakers might move Odom and Walton for Beans and Harrington. Biedrens ranks very high throughout the league (probably than he's ranked even here) but in a quiet way (something they don't publicize). Riley would do that deal in a heartbeat (Riley would also be an excellent coach for Al to play under). You have to ask yourself what is Nellie really looking for next season?

Tell "SPLIT" not to let the door hit him in the ass.

As for Monta 5 years 45 mil .

Beans 3 years 33 mil.

+1

The scary part is my natural replacement team would be the Heat, but if they sign Pietrus, I migh tjust give up on the NBA altogether.

If "Split" comes back next year and either Monta or Beans go, then I'm cancelling my subscription to "Warriors apologist"
