Marco Bustinelli vs. Daequan Cook, et al
Let me know when Busty posts 22 points, 6 boards, and 3 assists on 47% and 44% from 3 point land in an NBA game. I'm sure it'll happen real soon.
That's what the rookie Cook did tonight.
Busty is averaging 2.5 points per game as a rookie stud scoring threat, shooting a robust .366 and an elite-caliber .324 from three, his chosen milieu. This hot commodity is making Believers out of all of us. See how our future starting shooting guard measures up against his rookie class:

Cook was "voted against" along with Crittenton and Dudley by some Warrior folks at Busty's draft time but he gave every indication of being the superior NBA prospect at shooting guard. That may or may not prove to be the case but, for rookie years, Cook WINS.
This thread memorializes how ready and wonderful Marco Belinelli is following a classic Nellie sucker job (Billy Owens was a better snag).

One parting shot-- I'm sure I'm bringing on a hellfire awesome game from Busty tonight:
Belinelli ranks 50th in rookie field goal percentage.
Every single one of the dozen rookies beneath him are D-Leaguers or Wizards.
Ray Ridder has Bob Fitzgerald trying to tell us he does stuff other than "shoot" now but that's because they've recognized they may have a skeleton crew next year and fans won't buy tickets if they think Busty sucks at NBA basketball as badly as he does, among other pointless reasons to hype this hack.

I don't see how Marco can already be getting this type of negativity when he hasn't even played meaninful minutes (with the exception of the Memphis game). The guy rarely gets the ball and is practically forced to force up shots...if he passes it he'll never see it again. How about we let him play in the rotation a while (20-30 games) and judge him then? He's still a damn kid. And when I say rotation I don't mean with CJ running the point.
The +/- rating on Marco is complete BS because he's always playing with crap next to him.

It's a joke, nismoslos-- Poseurs who hate on POB, Lasme, and others because they blindly side with Nellie on everything are the ones who get most offended and silly about my Busty crusade.

Rowell just giving Belinelli some of the same treatment that other posters have given O'Bryant and Lasme all season long. How does that saying go, what goes around comes around?

give him a chance
Coming from a Heat fan, Cook was a solid pick and will be a nice piece for the team going forward, but he isn't without faults (still inconsistent)
Cook had some burn in the beginning of the year but when he started to struggle he got less and less PT and Riley even sent him down to the D-League. In fact he probably would have stayed in the D-League the rest of the year had the Heat not suffered a ton of injuries, legit or not
Belli would have benefited greatly from playing in the D-League, his confidence must have been shot at this point

there is a difference between hating on someone and being annoyed by the board being flooded by threads about their exploits in the nbdl and on terrible tanking teams.

Hi jaseda,
I like a lot about Cook and think, if anyone can get him to play strong defense, it's Riley. He was great last night. I saw him struggle along with you, it sounds like. But he's a nice late first round 2 guard pickup, no doubt about it.
Belinelli was opposed to playing in the D-League and in favor of keeping his NBA per diem/cheeseburger ration. He was a nice late first round cankle/stoned face pickup.
