Let the "Summer of Terrible Trade Ideas" begin!!1!
ok ok fine... i'll go first
Golden State trades
Baron Davis
Al Harrington
Golden State Receives
Corey Maggette
Larry Hughes
Tyrus Thomas
Chicago Bulls trade
Larry Hughes
Tyrus Thomas
Chicago Bulls receive
Al Harrington
Cutino Mobley
LA Clippers trade
Cutino Mobley
Corey Maggette
LA Clippers receive
Baron Davis
Why for Golden State - by moving BDiddy, the keys are handed over to Monta Ellis... Al Harrington is a nice player, but Tyrus Thomas gives the Warriors a more athletic big with potential to throw into the mix with BWright and Biedrins. Taking back Hughes is the price to pay for Thomas. Under this scenario Pietrus and Barnes walk and are replaced by Hughes and Maggette... new lineup -
Ellis/FA backup
Maggette/Hughes/Belinelli
SJax/Azu/#14 draft pick
BWright/Thomas/Cro
Biedrins/Kosta
Why for the Clips? They have no PG to replace Cassell, and Livingston is a question mark next year. Baron teaming with Brand and Kaman could make noise in the West... and if it doesn't work out Sterling can wash his hands of Baron after next season and have a ton of cap space.
Why for the Bulls? This year was a disaster, and they're left with some key free agents and a terrible contract in Larry Hughes. By making this trade they add two stable rotation guys for almost the same price as Hughes alone. Mobley gives them a body short term if they decide to move Gordon, and Harrington gives them another forward in case they decide to move Deng... moving Thomas hurts a little, but him and Noah are a tiny bit redundant.

No to both Baron deals. I want a top 7 lottery pick if we're going to trade Baron Davis, so that we can have a shot at Eric Gordon.
Yes to every Harrington deal, except the one for Andrea Bargnani, who I am not a fan of at all.

Baron Davis and Marco Belinelli to LAC for #6, Corey Maggette, Tim Thomas, and Brevin Knight.
No need to throw in Marco. I am sure that the Clips have little problem doing a sign and trade involving Maggette and the 6 (plus filler) for Baron. Marco would just be a cheap toss in that does not sway the deal in our favor any more than if he was out. And he deserves a chance here, especially if Barons minutes needed to be filled after his departure.
Baron Davis to NYC for Stephon Marbury, #5
I think that New York wont do this. They are building a nice little youth movement with Lee, Balkman, Robinson, Chandler, and the lotto pick they get this year. I think their days of foresaking the future for the present are gone now that they have so many losers on that team who will ensure that they have another crappy season next year.
Baron Davis, Marco Belinelli, 2009 lottery protected 1st to LAC for Elton Brand
Brand could easily be gone after next season (as could Baron, I know). But the extras you put in are killers since this deal would take us into negative sum territory in 2009 if Brand is not retained. Not to mention, Beans and Wright want minutes next season. Adding Brand will plant one of these guys firmly on the bench definitely in 2008/9 and if Brand is retained--which is what we would want over a one year rental-- then Wright or Biedrins becomes expendable. Its too early to make that decision right now on Wright/Biedrins' future role with the team.

Yeah, that is terrible.
And Thomas is redundant to Wright...both being skinny, inexperienced PFs that need to develop some facets of their game before becoming reliable.
Well said.
I'd much rather get Noah than Thomas, and Fragile Larry is probably not gonna help much. Yeah...we THIN out at PF and PG way too much.

We need some Bad ass rebounder with muscle. We need a useable backup C. If there is a Baron swap-we got to get back a decent PG. While Monta CAN play PG..he's become a pretty high impact SG. Suppose we discover that he's okay at PG-but the bottom line is that the Baron+Monta G combo worked better than Monta and whoever at SG?
I feel Azu and Belli CAN make a lot of progress. Pietrus-who I assumed was a goner, has learned and improved,at last, and seems to have got respect from Nellie.
POB would be crazy to return. We MIGHT salvage something via a S+T.
I would not heavily shop anyone-but would consider Belli,Jackson,Harrington as possible trade chips.
I'd probably also look at possibilities for trading down from 14 . I still like guys I wanted at #20,and there's some projected ( ???) as late #1 or very early #2 who can be great bargains.
Trading Ellis or Biedrins would likely be stupid. While there ARE a few deals I'd do...I doubt we can get those players unless we really overpay.
We fish around. Every year there's a trade where some guy goes way cheaper than expected. Gasol fits that. We might catch some team being both cheap and stupid.
Keep in mind, some changes,or a lot of changes, mean we are back to the drawing board in terms of strategy. I saw an idea where we trade Baron-Harrington-Jackson. Even if we get equal worth-the new guys won't be the same fit in our tactics-and won't KNOW our tactics. Enough "revolving door" and you're like a playground pickup team.
As is,Pietrus and Biedrins are our "long term" guys. Only Baron remains from the starting 5 that began Monty's last year. Most good teams have a few regulars who played togather more than 2 years.

Do you realize that Camby is 10 years older? Camby might have 2 solid seasons left..Biedrins might have 12. Think about that.

Assuming Orlando ain't dealing Howard,Biedrins is simply not tradeable. Not since Nate Thurmond have we been in decent shape at C. I do NOT want a decade of fishing..drafting Washburn,Fuller,Foyle etc. to get back to where we are.
I don't know if they'd do Harrington for Camby, but that might work for us.
Given our DREADFUL history when it comes to filling the C role ( Felton Freakin' Spencer?) I veto pretty much all Biedrins trades.

The Hayes deal really isn't awful at all. I'm a Bjax believer, and chuck hayes has the undersized thing going for him to get floor time with Nellie.
It's also a good deal for us because we get two plug in rotation players for one. We need to get deeper.
Houston would almost certainly ask for more however, given the key minutes Hayes has contributed this year. We might have to pick swap rather than the 2nd, which I would do. (I would plan on trading out of this 1st round anyway -unless rush is there at 14)
If one REALLY wants to retain the 14 pick, then I think you kind of have to consider puttin Belli on the table, but I would do the pick swap first as I know you would too. If one is married to the idea of Hayes and the 14 pick, then you would have to be prepared to add something of value for Houston.
Nice job
