POTENTIAL FREE AGENTS: good names on this list
ANDRES NOCIONI
LOUL DENG
BEN GORDON
CHRIS DUHON
JOSH SMITH - Atlanta should re-sign.
JOSH CHILDRESS
JOE SMITH - Good fit here.
FINLEY
STACKHOUSE - Great scorer off the bench. Spot starter.
McDYESS - good fit here. The running might be ruff.
WALTER HERMANN
CHUCK HAYES
TURIAF- Good energy guy. Can bang.
J WILL
RYAN GOMES - Target this guy. He's affordable and versatile.
CRAIG SMITH
CARLOS ARROYO - Arroyo would be able to back-up and occasional start.
STEVE BLAKE - Total pro. Good fit.
ANTHONY JOHNSON - Cheap and a veteran. Way better than Troy Hudson.
KURT THOMAS - For the right price a good stop gap for Wright.
There are some guys who'd really help us. From a big man standpoint I go after Joe Smith, Antonio McDyess, and Kurt Thomas. All 3 are affordable and can shoot the jump shot. The rebounding and D is a given.
For the back-up PG spot Blake and Arroyo stand out. Blake is well respected and Carlos has had some problems around the league. I'd take either.
Josh Smith should be retained. Deng or Nocioni will be out of Chicago, look for them to be out of our range.
From the SF spot, Gomes is good and affordable. Childress is versatile. Stackhouse can flat out score.
Other possible guys to be had are Trevor Ariza who makes 2.9 next year. With their glut of forwards and big men, Trevor might be odd man out.
Artest could opt out and leave the Kings with nothing. A deal with them is a possibility. Add Brad Miller as a King whom Nellie would love. He has 2 years left on his deal at 11 and 12 mil, but he'd fit our style.
Would love to go after Powe, but that ship has sailed.
Okafor will cost to much to have him, Beans, and Wright together.

LOUL DENG - To one-note. Can't consistently create his own shot... overrated for namesake. Good-great defender, but offense cannot be run through him.
BEN GORDON - Chucking 2 guard with minimal PG skills. Also overinflated value.
CHRIS DUHON - Worth a look, but shouldn't get more than a 1-2 year deal around the LLE, maybe 3m a season. Likely a 1 yr after his meltdown in CHI.
JOSH SMITH - Atlanta should re-sign. They will, if they like their fanbase at all.
JOSH CHILDRESS Never been a fan of F that cant handle at all. Add can't shoot onto that.
JOE SMITH - Good fit here. Agreed, at the right price. Also not a free agent though![]()
FINLEY - From watching him in SA, I'd rather have Buke. I said it.
STACKHOUSE - Great scorer off the bench. Spot starter. Also inked an extension![]()
McDYESS - good fit here. The running might be ruff. He's got worse knees than Harrington, but fortunately, he's not a FA either
WALTER HERMANN - I do like this kid. Tall guy that can shoot... he could be our Matt Bullard / Steve Novak.
CHUCK HAYES - YES! I love this guy, especially that he was born in my hometown... he's Reggie Evans minus the stupid multi year contract.
TURIAF- Good energy guy. Can bang. I like him as well. Not because of basketball, but because the guy's a Molotov... his fire spreads to the rest of the team when he's on court.
J WILL Chris Quinn is surpassing him, no joke.
RYAN GOMES - Target this guy. He's affordable and versatile. I dig him, but I'd have to assume the Wolves are trying to retain him over Craig Smith.
CRAIG SMITH - Fatty had a party and nobody came![]()
CARLOS ARROYO - Arroyo would be able to back-up and occasional start. Worth a look... I hate remembering his Olympic performance, but it was just so damn promising..
STEVE BLAKE - Total pro. Good fit. Inked a large extension pre-last season, hes in POR for 2 more years.
ANTHONY JOHNSON - Cheap and a veteran. Way better than Troy Hudson. Yes he is, but then again, so am I. AJ's not a bad stopgap though... I've always wanted a player without a neck.
KURT THOMAS - For the right price a good stop gap for Wright. Also interesting. I'd imagine SA wants to retain him though, after giving up a 1st for him.

I'd probably need a complete list to decide who to go after... Duhon looks OK for the right price, so does Herrmann and a couple others. After the finals we'll know exactly who's where.

Nocioni, Smith, McDyess, Blake, Outlaw and perhaps a few others mentioned aren't FA's.
And with the amount of money the Warriors have free under the luxury tax adding Deng, Gordon, Smith, or even several others would only happen with Ellis and/or Biendrins leaving.
Outside of Ellis and Biendrins the Warriors will strictly be budget shoppers for FA's. I don't see any other FA's getting a contract over $3M for next year, with $1-2M contracts more likely. There will be a lot of second tier FA's looking for $4M-full MLE deals. Some will get them. The rest will end up looking for any guaranteed deal, GS will shop among this group.
At that price extra post options would be Elson, Thomas or even Kwame (I'm thinking more center than PF as Harrington and Wright should cover 48 mpg at pf).
Wing options would center on retaining Bukie, and maybe Barnes if he has no other market.
PG options would be Duhon, Lue, Arroyo. None of whom should ever start, but could play 15-20 mpg off the bench if Davis or Ellis are injured.

Nocioni is not an FA but he is definitely available in trade.
Deng & Gordon are RFAs but they both want a huge payday. Last year Gordon was so insulted by a mere $10 million per year offer, that he had a horrible season. He may not get a single offer even close to that this summer
Deng later said he should have accepted the $10 million plus offer that he was offered, especially after an injury riddled, lackluster season. He may settle for 6 years, $60 million in my estimation.
Since both men fired long time agents to hire guys promising a big payday, they will not be easy to sign unless you want to overpay them.

Agree with giberish. We gotta keep in mind that the Warriors will be free agent bargain shoppers this year. I was thinking Thomas and Elson too, but definitley not Kwame. Don't want him anywhere near this team. And like you said giberish, the Dubs should be looking to grab a backup center, moreso that a PF.
I'm liking the Walter Hermann call too. That guy was sweetness two years ago, but he kind of fell off this year due to some issues and then got put in storage in Detroit. If a glimpse of that guy from two years ago comes back, he'd be a perfect fit here.
Another option that no one (anywhere) seems to be mentioning, is Juan Carlos Navarro. He'll be a good player and had a solid year, but it was entirely masked by the atrocity that was the Grizzlies. I really have no clue as to what kind of money he'd command this year. The Warriors probably won't go after him because I get the feeling that they think Beli will fill that role next year, but I'd bet that he gets a fraction of the MLE type deal, and if he gets on the right team, he'll become a great value real quick.

heres the guys i like if we could get them at a reasonable cost:
Turiaf - who better to energize a team thats success is so hugely based on emotion? to bad LA loves him, and he loves LA.
Gomes - gomes as backup PF > CroAzuBarnTrus as backup PF
Hayes - just to test Moncrief's free throw coaching magic. but seriously, the guy is a very good defender.
JWill - top 10 passer in the league, creates easy shots, actually feeds big men the ball, could easily run a nellyball team. terrible defender, takes bad shots... but who cares... baron gets rest, we get an actual backup PG, and Nelly brings back White Chocolate, rather than the paycheck collector that we see in Miami right now.
Gomes, Hayes, Azu, Jwill > Azu, Pietrus, Barnes, CJ
bring in those 3, plus Wright and Marco become rotation players.

and we'd be solid on the bench. And we'd get alot bigger from a Nellie standpoint.
Joe Smith is not a FA and there is almost no chance that we could sign both Gomes and Johnson using our MLE. Gomes will fetch at minimum 4M a year and Johnson more than 2M.

What about JR Smith. He would exel in our run and gun style. He has all the tools to be good defender but he hasnt put it together and he is already above average offensive player. Good 3pt shooter, faster legs and even more athletic than Kellena. Denver has very limited financial flexibility and we may be able to land him for full MLE. Plus this guy is still really really young - only 22
My favourite list:
JR Smith
Louis Williams
Eduardo Najera
Anthony Carter
Deng and Gordon are off the reach if we dont find the way to dump serius amount of salaries.

JR Smith= Rich Mans Mickael Pietrus...super athlete, able to put a great game together every so often, usually plays like a bone head.
Oh, and he doesnt have half the charisma and affability that MP has.
If he wanted to come aboard for one year and 3M, Id take a chance on him. No chance Id pay the full 6M MLE on him though.

Sure, you can get him because Denver doesnt want him. Karl has already benched & suspended him numerous times for ignoring called plays & for poor decisions on court. He even benched him in last year's playoffs for foolish plays
Even when he killed his friend in an accident last year by speeding around a car that was stopped for a stop sign, JR said that he accepts "that it wasnt his fault".
JR is just someone who shows flashes of greatness but wants nothing to do with discipline or responsibility.
The Hornets considered him a team cancer & made the Bulls take him in the Chandler trade. Bulls went to his agent (Arn Tellum) & told him to find a team for him. Within 2 weeks we was given to Denver for 2 second rounders.

Yes I agree but in Denver boards I have read that Karl is sometimes way too often too harsh with JR and many Denver fans seems to back up JR Smith. Karl even has asked JR to play PG at the end of some close games and then publicli criticise hib because of poor decision. Coah should try to bring out the strong sides of hes players game but not throw him in situation like this. Maybe new situation can change things for JR.
