Wow! There's gonna be a lot of good players/coaches available this offseason. With all the teams getting "trounced" in the playoffs, there should some very good coaches out there once the season is over as well as a bunch of "star" players who are likely to be on the chopping block.
Possible "good" coaches available:
Avery
D'Antoni
Karl
Brown (likely going to Charlotte of course).
Especially players on Denver, and possibly Phoenix as well.
Other possibilities: Carlisle from Detroit if they wind up losing to the 6ers.
On Denver it wouldn't surprise me if that whole team goes on the block, particularly Camby, Nene, Martin and even Carmelo and Iverson.
I could see Barbosa going on Phoenix and Diaw probably for a 6 pack and a bag of chips.
I imagine there will be plenty others.
The should be some very good opportunities out there waiting for the Warriors. It should be a buyers market.

You're absolutely right. And I don't make trade/free agent predictions cause I'm always wrong but I do think our PRIORITY is a rebounding forward (if he could toss in 10 - 15 points that'd be great) and some toughness. I mean like a Kenyon Martin. Paul Milsap or Carl Landry. I can't really explain the "toughness" aspect of a team but we don't have it.
I love AB but he's not what I'd call tough. I'm an old guy but Maurice Lucas gave the Trailblazers toughness on their champiosnhip team. He wasn't a great rebounder or a very skilled player but he played physical defense and intimidated other teams all the way to the championship.

I doubt if it will be guys like Milsap or Landry (Milsap's is with Utah who's going to to do well and is a large part of their success, Landry's an overachiever and both are low cost). I'm thinking higher tier guys actually, especially those making the big bucks but arent' coming through during crunch time.
We will need to be patient and not just jump at the first opportunity because there's going to be a lot of "good stuff" out there and we should be in a fairly good position to get it without breaking our bank.

i don't dig D'antoni. his phoenix teams always seem fragile in some sense so that's perhaps partly due to the coach.
don't like avery either. what a control freak. (he's more of a JVG clone than nellie)
karl is Ok, but i really really don't like his current stint at Denver. he seems to struggle to instill any sort of chemistry to the team. bad mixed of players perhaps.
brown? he'll be here what, one year? 240 days?
let's keep nellie for another year or find a coach who can use legit big men, like paul silas.

Flip Saunders is the Detroit coach. Yes, he probably will be canned if Detroit does not advance.
Carlisle is unemployed. He's rumored as top Bulls candisdate but I dont think so,
warning on Carlisle: walsh of NY knows all about him from days at Indiana & is NOT considering him for the Knicks opening. That is NOT a good sign

You're right, I meant Flip. I always get those two guys mixed up for some reason. Thanks for the fix.

While it's nice to dream, I wouldn't get your hopes up. The huge problem is - How does GS get these guys??
For a big bucks guy to come in, either Baron has to go out or a Harrington + filler (Perovic, S&T Barnes or MP) package has to go out. Baron is as good or better than the big bucks guys actually on the block so making that trade wouldn't help (Baron for Redd isn't an improvement). Trading the Harrington package (even if the S&T logistics could be worked out and another team is interested) guarantees GS goes into the luxury tax - and there's no evidence Cohan is willing to do that.
I tend to find it dissappointing that several teams look to make stupid/panic deals this offseason and GS isn't in position to take advantage of any of them.
