POB was not likely a messiah,or a guy who's only talent involves cheesecake. He has become-in our context-a SYMPTOM. A top 10 lotto pick MUST be treated as a precious and rare commodity to be used with careful design and then fully optimized and deployed. In all that...GSW gets a failing grade. What POB is or will be or can be---is still untested. However-in this incident Nellie and Mullin did expose their weak spots.

Well.....when we had Big Banger we were subbing him in for Beans while staying low power at the F slots. Harrington + Jax are EACH guys who relatively do not dominate in close or rebound at an above average pace.
That leaves whoever plays C to "cover" for those deficiencies. Mbenga was not that special,but was a decent C,however,he lacked the stuff to be the lone guy inside or to play some PF. Eith a minor tune up,POB could do anything Mbenga could and more. However...the prevailing phobias never let that option be considered.

As it turned out....Mbenga did more for us than Webber did. Considering how seldom Mbenga had played for the Mavs,I was a bit surprised he seemed as competant as he was.

DJ Mbenga's life story is such an inspiration. Even though he's not that great of a big man, he certainly has the heart, effort, and intensity to go along with his decent array of shot-blocking and dunking skills. I'm sure Warriors will find a competent big man soon

A lot of draft picks are busts, historically. Really strong draft classes have been cropping up lately though. No matter what, top 10 picks are valauable commodities. Lottery picks are commodities. The Warriors will never be accused of sound management, retention, acquisition, or liquidation of commodities. Adonal Foyle buyouts, O'Bryant waivers, Pietrus enablings, top-5 pick overbidding and slash and burn tradings. It's a long and bad story. The fairweather "it's better than it has been" crowd can shove off. This team is still pretty dumb, by the by. Marco Belineli changes nothing, brilliant draft pick that he was.

Do you believe in busts, Rem? I am a firm believer in the notion that certain players--especially big men--simply do not have what it takes mentally to become quality NBA players, despite all of their natural abilities and great measurables.

Its the same argument that can be applied to the many lotto busts that take place EVERY single year. To look at it deeper and to try to pass blame around to everyone but the player in question is a stretch.
