CAMBY FOR THE TRADE EXCEPTION

Denver needs to shed salary. Camby's rumored as odd man out with Nene on the books for a while.
Camby is the type of big that could play alongside Beans and is more than a perfect shot blocker if Beans sits down.
He has a declining contract which only has 2 years left.
A three big man lineup of Beans, Camby, and Wright would allow us to continue to run and also allow for maturity from the youngs guys for a couple of years.
This is a no brainer from Golden States standpoint and they should jump on it with gusto.
Whether or not the TE is enough for the Nuggets is the question. They want to save money and 8 million off the books helps out.
It would definitely be a hit to our cap, but would show that the FO is willing to do what it takes.
But alas, I don't expect the cheapos to take on the salary, so Camby will help someone else out.
Come on Mully work some magic.

I believe it was Gump who pointed out that Camby reached incentives this year that pushes his salary above and beyond the TPE. Even so, if you bring in Camby, I guess you would let Goose walk? Can't go 10M above the luxury tax.

I feel Camby has more value than just the cap savings a TE trade would give. Denver would probably want the Warriors' lottery pick as well, but I don't know if I would want to do that for Camby who is getting up there in years.
This team is focused on going young, and Camby doesn't fit the profile. Maybe if Mullin and Co felt Camby was the final piece, but he isn't with Denver, so I doubt he would be for the Warriors.

I would not let Goose walk under any circustance.
but this should is the type of player worth going over the Lux line. Camby is the type of big that could actually play alongside Goose because of that mid range jumper.
He makes 8 mil next year, so his incentives are over 2 mil?

Dude, are you challenging the word of Gump? Blasphemy.
BTW - we'd be picking him up on this year's salary, not next year's. Next year's salary doesn't go into effect until July 1 and the TPE expires before that.

What Hopper said is correct.
We are at nearly 48M in salaries before even re-signing Monta and Andris. We should be right at the luxury tax level, if not higher, when these guys are signed and we add our first round pick (lest it be traded).
Camby would effectively cost 23M next year considering that we would have to pay the luxury tax. Cohan not paying that gawdy amount of money doesnt exactly make him a "cheapo." Especially when Biedrins is already virtually the same player as Camby is.

We're not going to be able to compete for anything next year..We've got a lame duck coach and 4 or 5 rookies on the roster..Baron's going to get hurt..Jack is starting to slide back to his Indiana days with his chucking and partying..
TANK IN 09

..Start the slide in the middle of December...That's the old classic warriors way.

Nice of you to slip all that in there. I feel enriched after hearing your feelings on Marcus Camby and the idea of adding him to this team.

What if Philly wanted Harrington? they are under the cap?
not saying that would happen, but there are ways and your number is to high Nick.
Camby makes 8 mil next year and 7.5 the following.
Biedrins doesn't have a mid range jumper Camby does.
Camby is a prolific shot blocker, Goose is not as yet.
Those 2 manning the front court along with Wright would take this team to another level.
Protecting the rim is the main problem with our current squad. Protecting the rim will make our already good team that much better.
Getting Al Harrington out of the middle will allow for stops on the defensive end.
Camby will make as big or bigger an impact here than he did there.
The bottom line is not your inflated numbers with the tax line, but the unwillingness so far for our FO to pay when it counts.

I think just the opposite. Using the TPE on him would save Denver 10M in tax this year. It may even put them below the tax line, which could result in an additional windfall. I would think that would be worth at least one number one's from Denver to us. I'd prefer it be next year's, when Iverson bails this summer and leaves them in a high lottery slot.

Sorry Hop, do you know the incentives? and do the incentives figure into a TE move?
If it happened I'd hope they'd send us a number 2 this year.

I think one was for games played. Gump probably has all the minutia memorized. I have too many dead brain cells to remember such detail.

That would put our rookie count at 6

Answer me this Hop.
If Camby counts against this years cap, How much would we go into the Lux for this year?

Dont know if you saw my question at the end of page one, but.....
If we did the TE deal for Camby, what would our Cap be THIS year? How far over the line would we be?

Even if Camby could somehow be acquired, we need to the ask the question would Nellie play Camby and Biedrens together? I'm not so sure he would.
I'm not interested in Camby if that means that Biedrens becomes a bench player/backup again.
I'm looking for someone who complements Beans, not so sure that Camby would.

Shamsports says Camby is due to make over 11 million next year.

According to -bob-'s salary cap thread, we're at 58.5M this year. If we added 10M in salary, I guess that puts us about 1.5M over??? I don't think the luxury tax is a solid number at this point. They determine the exact figure in July IIRC.

Wright goes to 3rd string C..And for what reason? So we can bring in an old fart and make a run for an 8th seed?
Next year is already going be brutal enough with Nellie being a lame duck and all..Now you want to glue B to the bench for another season?
This could get ugly
