ATL / GS

beans , #14th

for

josh smith

would it work

would you want it to work

i already know both teams are high on their players , but if you hate it and the hawks hate it , then i think it's pretty fair in value.

i'm not a homer , i just think smith would be a better fit in GS , then in ATL , and the hawks need a Center in a bad way. we can't have horford playing C that much , he's a PF

is Patrick O'bryant ready ?

if this trade came thru you could pick up diop.

i come in peace

Patrick O'Bryant is perfect for the hawks..

I'd rather keep Biedrins...I love watching Josh and appreciate his game..But I'd rather have the AB15-BW32 combo..

That's a really interesting rationale for a trade. :)

Why do you think Josh Smith would fit here? He's athletic and blocks shots I know, but I think Wright could eventually do the things he does... and I think we need Biedrins for post small ball. I would say the same for POB, except the trauma he's suffered here seems to require that he leave.

If Baron bails, I'd like to see a run made at Josh. A front court of AB-Wright-Smith with Tay in the backcourt would be pretty sweet for the next ten years.

you can have POB by signing him to a 3yr/9m deal, with the third year as a player option. might as well, POB will probably be a very good NBA center....think rich man's Brendan Haywood. POB just never really had a chance to succeed here. Sucks for Ws. The Warriors' trash is another team's treasure.

Mully said that he's keeping Biedrins at all costs. No way that proposed trade would happen.

It might be fair in a vacuum, but wouldn't make much sense in terms of our team makeup. As you say the Hawks really need a center, if we did that, we'd immediately say the same thing and offer to trade back heh We'd end up with Smith and Wright, neither of which would have much of any business playing center, and would instead get in each other's way.

Your litmus test of, "If both teams hate it, it is probably fair." is a good starting point, but only covers the value proposition. Team A might hate it because they think their player is better, where Team B might hate it because it leaves them with a lineup they can't play.

Can I ask a stupid question here? What's wrong with Al Horoford? And doesn't Zaza have another year or two with you guys? Maybe you guys ought to be talking Baron here. Isn't Bibby going to be an expiring next year as well? I think Baron would be the perfect guy for you while you groom your youngster. How about a Josh for Baron deal? Maybe include Bibby somehow. I think Horoford can be a solid Center in this league (I think he proved that in the Boston series).

Josh Smith is exciting...thats all.

Hes the 3rd best player on the Hawks. Josh Smith isnt that good.

that's the response i would figure a gs fan would make , but if it was the other way around and your a atlanta fan , you hear the same thing about biedrins

a reply from another fan

"Biedrins would fit in this roster less than Smith. He is even more tied to a fast paced offense and relies on others to create his shot almost exclusively. Horford would still be guarded by the other team's strongest player because Biedrins doesn't often back his man down, he gets a lot of points by moving and catching.

Horford would also have to defend the other team's center because Biedrins is raaaiiillll thin.

He'd be a good pickup if we went to a more fast paced offense. Then again, Smith and Horford would better at a faster pace too.

If Biedrins is the best we can do we should just hang on to Smith."

as i said before if you was on the other side of the fence you wouldn't think the other guy is that good as your own.

but smith will put fans in the stands , he's a human highlight real , from a gm perspective i think he would do it.

id rather have Horford. I watch ATL all the time...Joe Johnson is my favorite player...by far. i dont see anything "special" that he does. his leaping ability is his best asset. id rather keep Biedrins and let Wright handle his business here.

we dont need him to fill seats.

Josh Smith deserves a "Where Amazing happens" T-shirt or commercial...ill give him that.

I agree to this deal, if we can preface it with a Three way deal that sends Harrington + Beli to the Sixers, AMiller to the Nugs, and Camby to the Warriors.

Davis
Monta
Jackson
JSmith/Wright
Camby

I like. However a Smith/Biedrins deal is quite complicated. From my understanding, it would have to be a double S+T with them both being BYC players. The 14th pick couldnt be included, because it would have to be done after the draft.

You don't see our guys over your neck of the woods offering Biedrens for Smith do you? You cam over here offering that deal, did you not?

yes , me personally i would love this trade to go down , but other hawks fan's is who i am referring to

same thing with the warriors fan's , some will love smith in a warriors jersey while others believe he isn't that good.

same thing with the hawks , i personally would love to have biedrins in a hawks jersey while other hawk's fans would not.

i proposed this trade because i thought it was pretty fair , and as you can see , some of you love it , while others hate it.

Biedrins >>>> Josh Smith.

If this is the trade...

Biedrins

For

Josh Smith
2009 first round draft pick
2011 first round draft pick
2013 first round draft pick
2015 first round draft pick

And MAYBE, MAYBE we will make the trade.

If we had another option at center, this is a fair deal without the draft pick involved. There's really no option to trade Biedrins at this point, unless it's for another quality center. But, signing Smith outright for about the same money as Ellis and Biedrins will get would be fabulous. :D

lol that's funny because i'm getting about the same response from the hawks board , just the other way around.

i know you guys are high on beans , as is the hawks is high on smith , some say smith is = to beans and your first this year , while others like this guy above me feels that way.

this trade wouldn't happen unless it was a double sign and trade , i posted it on the trade board , and it's getting a lot of hits , feel free to look for yourself , some love it , others hate it.

and now it's turned into a 3 way deal with philly with you getting smith and dalembert and the hawks get philly's 1st , not yours.

I wouldn't even swap Biedrins for Smith in a one for one trade, let alone throw in a lottery pick.

From the Hawks stand point it doesn't even make much sense. Keep arguably your best player in Josh Smith and just sign Diop or POB both solid defensive centers to complement Horford.

i suggest you subscribe to league pass and watch ATL all season next year...then let me know if you believe Josh Smith is their best player.

ATL doesnt need any real adjustments. If i am ATL, im all over a Biedrins for Smith deal. Why? Because Horford is the real deal at PF. Horford is a much better PF than Smith. It then comes down to trying to move Smith to SF. In my eyes, Marvin Williams is really up and coming and should be the starting small forward.

I believe ATL is in a great situation. Smith has value, and ATL wont be missing much if he left.

Interesting points there gswhoop. I'm not that familiar with the Atlanta situation. I thought that Horoford was a solid NBA Center but if as you say, they would rather play him at 4, then it makes sense to trade Smoove (especially with that whopping extension he's expecting to get). As you stated, I like Williams and they also have Childress (another guy who's pretty dynamite at the 3). So I can see them wanting Beans, he'd be a young Center who'd fit in with their program for many years to come. Too bad he fits into our program too (moreso than Smoove). If there was a way we could have Smoove and Beans, that would be something though.

Here's a deal I would do in the same vein (slightly modified from the T&T board version):

GSW out: Biedrins (S&T $60M/6yrs), Harrington, #14
GSW in: Smith (S&T $65M/6yrs), Camby

ATL out: Smith (S&T $65M/6yrs)
ATL in: Biedrins (S&T $60M/6yrs)

DEN out: Camby
DEN in: Harrington, #14

Warriors

Camby
Smith/Wright
Jackson
Ellis/Azubuike
Baron/MLE (Duhon?)

That's a sick lineup IMHO.
