Artest...??... if baron goes bye bye?
I know most would likely not have artest on the team.. but i actually like Ron, hes crazy as hell but those are the kinds of players you want on your team... thats why i like jack... minus the chucking.
what if we do the baron for maggette and the pick deal... and maggette opts out... as he likely would
would you be intrested in giving ron a 5 year deal starting at liek 6-7 mill per?
we could draft gordon at #6 ... and CDR or Rush at #14... or whoever?
Monta/Gordon/CJ (or wheoever)
Jack/Belli/(d leaguer)
Artest/Wright/CDR(Rush)
Wright/Al/FA
Andris/Kosta?...whoevr?
I mean i understand the building around wright beans and monta.. and we are techincally still doing that while also remainign competitve ... competitve to a degree... while artest is a risk i still think hes a hell uv a player.. he fortifies our defense post "sissyball"...
and our bench would be full of youth ready to step in if theres a ron ron melt down and we need to trade...
I liek the youth movement trade ideas and i agree we wouldnt be that much worse off playing the youth then what we have now.. but i still think 8th seed or not we need to make the playoffs so monta and wright and andris can be succseful in the future.

Just a side bar on this trade and to what i liek about artests game.
Artest is a competent defensive player that goes without saying...
On defense Ron's laterl quickness is above average for a man his size... i mean its pretty ridiculous.. and his strength is insane.. he gets a hand in the face.. almost as well as bowen does.. but his hands are sooo much quicker.. and hes soo strong...i digress
On offense he is very underated IMO, he is a big body and can post up all sg's and sf's... he is actually a good passer.. sometimes he gets a little bull headed and gets a little jump shot happy.. his jumper is pretty shaky...
BUT whose isnt?... with monta getting better at creating for others ... and with jacks ability to break down a defender.. i think we need that tough bull who is going to draw fouls... and not settle for chucking shots up...but that goes without saying...

I'm pretty sure the players (in this case, Maggette) would have to pick up his option for the deal to go through.
But, if the Kings were willing to swap Maggette for Artest, we could allow both teams to talk extension with both players, then have both opt out and complete a S&T. Or have them both pick up their options and trade em anyway. But I dont think they can opt out after being traded.

Overall I'm not thrilled with the prospect of Artest... I cant imagine he'd want to come here and play PF for a season, or want to ink an extension after that. And Artest does chuck a bit too...
If a Baron trade ushered in a new coach who would insist on those extra passes, I'd be for everything above... I can see another year of Nelson's ball making the end result pretty ugly for us.

I like Brad Miller for Al Harrington...We need beef, rebounding, outside shooting and passing from our frontline..Miller would fit in nicely with Wright and Biedrins...The kings have Hawes..I think this is a sweet deal..I believe Al's already asked for a trade..Kings need PF depth...We have a deal.
Check out Miller's numbers last season..13.4pts...9.5rebs...3.7ass..46% fg...85% fts...Led the kings in +/-..
This is the deal since we cant draft Love.

Dont want Sjax and Artest as leaders on the Warriors and going to night clubs in Oakland.
Baron
Monta
Sjax
Ron
Beans
Now thats a better lineup with more versatilty and a lot of mismatches
Look it up...Artest is no rebounder, less so than Harrington, meanwhile his ego and mood swings are just the spark that could melt down this team. Artest hasn't been "quick" since bulking past 255 lb.
Above....with 2 lotto guys we spend both on wing guys while letting Azu and Pietrus walk....meanwhile Kosta is the whole depth chart at C? We put our star SG into the learn on the job PG role-we sacrafice our speed advantage yet don't add real size or RBDs.
If Artest was in any sense "RELAIBLE" or a veteran "GOOD INFLUENCE",perhaps we could find a role. But then....the rest of the deal is we give away 3 midsize rotation guys..then spend a ton of assets on 3 midsizers, putting 2 rookies in the rookie-loving hands o0f Nellie while Artest becomes the role model for a team thinking young. We end up thin as hell at C + PG. We ADD a "poor shot selection" guy.
While Nellie is talking about the STRESS of it all...he takes on the top headcase...he loses 3 guys he used-trusted,has to assimilate MORE rookies on top of those he'd postponed dealing with....did I leave anything out?
CENSORED... No comment.

yea you left out the fact nelly wont be here after this next year.
what guys have we givin away?... pietrus, buike, and barnes are gone bro.
my goal was to add defense, and get bigger.. by not playing pietrus at PF. and having a bigger SG (jack)... we become better defensivly (on paper)... and as far as getting a big man.. we can draft love at #14.
drafting gordon at #6 gives us a backup PG.. and a Starting SG once jacks contract is done and if we opt not to keep him...it also allows us to not throw EG right into the fire right away.. and have posters here complaing about him being a bust or what not... where is the lack of depth?
im not gung ho on the deal.. and i also think Ron gets a bad rap on being "cumbustable"....hes a little wacky, but hes been fine in Sac... and he wouldnt have to play PF here.. f'nelly...
but i find this solution a whole lot better then twidling thumbs hoping we can trade baron for size... or hoping to trade al for "better" size
Monta/Gordon/Whoever
Jack/Belli/Gordon
Artest/Wright/rookie?
Wright/Al/Love
Beans/Love/Kosta.
how is that "lack of depth"?

i only want Artest if we have the following players on the team
Baron and Jack.
Baron, Monta, Jack, Artest, Biedrins...this is a capable lineup for the next 5 seasons
Artest- Id go into the 9-11M range a season. Hes damn good. Hes the bully of the league.

I'm hoping we sign Azubuike to a new contract starting at Laki's suggested price of 5 million a year...I like what he gives us at the 4 spot..I could see us beating LA and SA to get to the finals next year..How the hell can they stop Azu's 3 ball ? THEY CAN'T.GSWhoopfan wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

I personally think that Artest around a group that isn't as intense as he is, is a cancer. Put him with Baron and Jack---watch out. He's a spark in a good way in that instance. Put him at SF. Go big. Baron/Jack/Artest/roleplaying vet PF/Beans. Or you could put Beans at PF with a vet roleplaying C. Just for one year
