Deals for Al......

The market is limited from what I can see unless there's a mystery team that covets him, but here's a few possiblities.

CLEVELAND:

They need some offense and Lebron needs help. We need a front court player with some savvy.

Al for Joe Smith and Damon Jones.

Both will expire after next year. Smith give us another front court guy to help us transition to the Wright Beans front line. Damon Jones gives us another 3 point chucker.

Al gives the Cavs another scorer. They can afford to lose Joe Smith because of having Side show Bob and big Z. Al can play some 3 and 4 for them and never have to venture into the center position.

MAVERICKS:

Al for Stackhouse and Eddie Jones.

For us Stack really fits the sixth man role. Eddie Jones may or may not play, but his defense is still damn good and he could pass on some knowledge. Both expiring next year.

For Dallas Al gives them a slightly bigger player than Stack and gives them another PF to run with Dirk and Bass. Al, JHo, Dirk, Bass makes for a good forward rotation.

Not likely.

PHILLY:

Al for Andre Miller

This only works if Philly sees Louis Williams taking over at the point. Al fits them as a guy who they might like to keep around for a while. He fits there new running style.

The Warriors will have to take on a little salary, but Andre's expiring. This would only happen if Baron was being ushered out of town.

NEW JERSEY:

Al for Stromile Swift and Nenad Kristic

Al is from the area and would fit in with the change going on in NJ.

Stromile is expiring and for one year might provide Nellie with either a huge headache, or some rim rocking dunks. Kristic hasn't been able to get back to where he was before his injury. but if he can, then this could be a steal for the Dubs.

Kristic showed that he was among the best centers in the East a few years back and would be a nice compliment to Beans if healthy. He could move Beans to PF and along with young brandon could make for a nice front line. He's expiring next year also, so it would onlt be for one year if things went bad.

WASHINGTON:

Al for Caron Butler

If Brandan shows that he is ready to step into the PF role on a FT basis then I would be willing to do the deals for expiring contracts. First I would need to be convinced about Brandan after 20-30 regular season games.

Al for Krstic and Swift makes no sense for NJ. They are stacked at SF/PF with Jefferson, Boone, and Sean Williams. Adding a 10M/yr guy there doesnt really do much for them.
Also, Krstic is good enough for NJ to give one more year to recover before throwing him in on a deal for a guy that isnt a star.

Al for Andre Miller will not happen. Dre just guided that team to a very exciting season and also has an expiring contract coming up. No chance Philly would want to add Al for him, especially when you look at their depth chart at SF/PF (Thad Young, Reggie Evens, Carney, Jason Smith).

I would be happy to take the Harrington for Butler trade, though. Any chance Kupchak might take over in Washington this summer to hook us up for a Kwame like deal?

I don't like the Mavs deal. Primarily I don't like Stackhouse and his low basketball IQ.

I think the Clips, Bucks and possible Bulls and Magic might have some interest in Al. I haven't really looked into any trades, but if the Warriors could add two rotation players to the bench; a back up PG, along with a foward/center I would be happy.

NJ may have holes to fill after dealing with Denver. RJ is their best trade chip and getting Al in with Carter Melo and Camby might be a nice fit.

Plus Al's at home in the NJ area so he may be a fan favorite.

As for the Clips, the only guys who fit without out us sending more are Mobley and Maggette.

Mobley's to old to be dealing for and Mags is looking for a payday. If we're dealing with the Clips, then I want that number 6 pick. You're not getting that for Al.

Orlando has nothing to give us for Al.

The Bucks have nothing to give either.

The Bulls are intersting and may be willing to deal, but I doubt Al would be their target at almost 10 mil.

I only see Desmond Mason as a possibility and he sucks. Bogut is cheap enough, but come payday for him we wouldn't be able to re-sign BW.

Charlie V most likely if they've decided to give up on him. Maybe an exchange of draft picks as p/o the deal. There would also have to be filler to balance the deal (doubt if the Bucks are willing to eat Al's salary). I don't really know how much they like Al either.

The only one on your list I wouldn't mind is Joe Smith from Cleveland. Even though I believe that Al would be an excellent fit over there, I'm not sure if Cleveland sees it.

And I like Al too... when his legs are there hes a solid player and a great hustler.

Any deal for Harrington will likely return lessor talent. He'll opt out after next year. I'd rather keep him than do any of these trades.

How in the world will someone with so many miles on his legs walk away from 10m, knowing his next contract might not even hit that much total?

Watch and learn.

Even if he doesn't opt out, he'll be worth more as an expiring contract than the crap being thrown around.

What does that mean? Watch and learn what? An old man pass on 10 mil?

If he becomes an expiring contract, it will be in 2009-2010. While I'm not against the idea (big exp's are crucial for garnering big time players in trades), I'd much rather have the expirings going into 08-09... expirings have value once the season begins, but those TPEs are to die for in the offseason, when I'd hope they'd be making a deal...

I honestly think Al's the type of person who would sacrifice short term dollars for playing time. Perhaps it's wishful thinking since I hate seeing us lose on the talent side so Cohan can win...again.

I think Hammond will be too smart for Al, even if others in Milwaukee still want him badly. But if Skiles still wants Al, too, some of the stuff that was on the table before and the pick is not out of the question.

The more I look at this idea, the more I don't believe Milwaukee would ever do something like it-- no one can like Al THIS much-- but I'll defend to the death against all challenges on player and contractual bases:

Al and Kosta for Villanueva, Mason, Storey, and #8.

I'd target teams that have two first rounders like Seattle and Memphis. Seattle needs more proven veterans and Harrington could provide either team with some leadership/experience.

Seattle Deal: We move Harrington and the JRich TPE for Wilcox,Adrian Griffin(EC) and #24th pick. Seattle does it for two reasons. Harrington can provide them some scoring and mentor Durant or backup Green. Seattle does it to get and save $$$.

Memphis deal: The first deal is we move Harrington for Mike Miller. The next deal is move the Jrich TPE for Hakim Warrick.

NO needs Brandan included in any deal for Paul. Unfortunately W's fans reject because Wright is young and a future HOFer.
